Maybe others understand them better but to me they are a challenge
Have been using Mikrotik products for about ten years. They really are the affordable "Swiss Army knives" of networking. But configuring them can be challenging. I am probably at the Novice level at getting them setup. The firewalls rules are sometimes maddening. Maybe others understand them better but to me they are a challenge. My first trip through this book gave me a better understanding of how the rules work and how you should approach them. It was a little different that what I had imagined. This book is not a super-in-depth book about RouterOS. But it does present some good information on how to do the basic things. I recommend it, even for first time Mikrotik RouterOS users. It will save you some hair pulling.

Fantastic work and I look forward to reviewing more resources ...
I have worked with Mr. Hart for a number of years seeking his expertise in networking industry standards. This text offers a very comprehensive overview of the MikroTik Certified Network Associate (MTCNA) Certification with resources and tools for the reader. The outline and flow of the book provide a unique learning experience and the Chapter Review Questions offer the reader the opportunity to demonstrate and reflect on their understanding of concepts.Fantastic work and I look forward to reviewing more resources from Mr. Hart!

This is not only a great reference guide for everything Mikrotik
This is not only a great reference guide for everything Mikrotik, but good in-depth reading, as well. The flow and language is easy and comfortable to jump into without being overwhelming and each section is packed with lots of accessible information.

Very useful book for Miktotik RouterOS
There's quite a lot of useful tips and tricks in this book although a lot of the examples are not particularly complex so probably not so beneficial for advanced RouterOS users. I found the Firewall section particularly useful for me at explaining some of the concepts. Although the RouterOS Firewall is based heavily on *NIX IPTables it's not something I have had much experience with and it's considerably different to other hardware firewall implementations I've used in the past (i.e Cisco, Fortigate). What's really good about this book is the review questions at the end of every chapter which test your knowledge on the chapter's contents. Whilst I'm not planning on studying for the MTCNA qualifications I wanted to improve my understanding of the fundamentals for my own benefit. It's actually surprising how much I've already learned about RouterOS just from playing around with it but this book will be a useful reference in the future to go back to.

I'm really pleased with this book
Decent examples, teaches everything you need to know about Mikrotik RouterOS. I bought this because I needed to create a VPN tunnel IKEv2 between a Routerboard Hex and a Juniper firewall. I worked it out with the help of this book. Thoroughly recommended.

Not readable on a Kindle
An ebook from Amazon, but not compatible with my Kindle. Waste of money.
