Shock & Awe (Sidewinder Book 1)

Another hard not to love book by one of the best authors.and serial writers.This one is a very touching love story between men who have knownand cared for each other for a long time.but not in the way they thoughtWhile helping out and caring for his badly injured friend something changed between them and the way they felt about each other,which they both found difficult to deal with.neither looking for love they were left trying to sort out their emotions.The book is so well written that you can almost feel the love between them.and knowing that the love that their friends shared was clear for all to see they neverhid theirs from them.A beautiful story with a lot of love and feelings A book with a very touchingstory and hard not to love.

I bought this book immediately after I finished reading Ty and Zane's story in Touch & Geaux and found this to be the perfect companion to follow on the events of that book. It's great to be able to hear from Nick and Kelly as main characters, the story is seamlessly crafted between the two series and I cannot wait for more books from these guys! I hope even after Ty and Zane's story comes to an end this series will continue and we'll get to learn even more about the team, catch up with Ty and Zane and see where this relationship goes! Strongly recommend!

Excellent twist throwing Kelly and Nick together - a little unrealistic to now find the majority of the team are non straight but this can be forgiven for the sake of double bubble hot sex and heart wrenching storyline of separation by nasty Government baddies .... A really hot titbit to tide me over until the next book arrives ;)

Original a short fanfic on Abi's tumblr, it has been fleshed out, and had the added Bait&Switch at the end of the novella. I loved this story, as I have loved the entire C&R series. Read from the start if you've not read any of them so far. Enjoy this one for the awesome that is Nick and Kelly, over and over again.

Spin off to the amazing Cut and Run series set between books 7 and 8

This gives different perspective on the Sidewinder boys but I missed Ty and there was only a little Zain. Still Nick and Kelly were a pretty good replacement and the story moved along well. It didn't quite hold my interest as the Cut and Run books do but the characters are sagging and I would be happy to read more about them.

Loved it loved it loved it!!! I always loved a good love story. The fact the characters Is all macho men makes it even better. I have lots of friends that love to read and can't wait to tell them bout this fantastic book.

Un premier tome génial dont l'histoire se situe entre le tome 7 et le tome 8 de Ty & Zane, ce que j'ignorais avant de lire ledit tome 8. Du coup, j'ai enchainé avec ce tome afin d'en savoir plus sur Nick et Kelly et j'ai adoré! C'est adorable, beau et... "muy caliente"! Ils sont vraiment sexy ces deux-là! Les voir prendre conscience de leurs sentiments et faire face à leurs peurs et leurs doutes m'a permis d'en apprendre encore davantage sur eux et ce sont vraiment des personnages intéressants. Je les aimais déjà beaucoup avant mais maintenant, je ne peux que les adorer, que ce soit Nick, qui est juste génial et qui est bien plus que ce qu'il ne laisse transparaître, ou bien Kelly qui est complètement barge et qui ne s'arrange pas au fil des tomes ;) J'ai hâte de lire la suite!

Ich liebe alles an diesem Buch . Den Humor , die Romantik, den heißen Sex , die Dramatik , die Angst , einfach alles. Nick und Kelly sind eine große aber auch sehr gelungene Überraschung.

This story was incredibly sexy. It was wonderful to get to know more about Kelly and Nick.Kelly is outgoing enough to get Nick on board with his crazy plan of experimenting together.What is a week of 'playtime' turns into something more, as they both slip easily into acknowledging how much they love each other.Recommended for those who want a feel good story.Please note, this story ends on a cliffhanger.

This was my first Abigail Roux book and as book 1 of a series I thought it would be a good starting point. However, while I enjoyed the book and felt like I was missing a whole lot of background story.Gay-for-you, friends-to-lovers story. Truly enjoyed reading about Nick and Kelly’s discovery of their feelings for each other, but could have been longer. 4 stars because I was really into them while reading this and the sex was superhot.

I have been a fan of Ms Roux work since I first picked up Cut & Run. I worked my way through the series and was ecstatic to find out that this novella was based around Nick and Kelly from the Sidewinder Recon Team. I love Ty and Zane and didn't really think she would be able to give another couple that would be different from them but WOW, Nick and Kelly taper nothing Like Ty and Zane yet still I found myself falling for them and they have now become My guys too. Just like Ty and Zane are my guys.

Although not as good as the Cut & Run series, mostly because Zane is hawwwt, I still enjoyed this story. Found it a little difficult as I read it after I finished the complete Cut & Run series so the result was a little spoiled, but that didn't matter too much.

The Sidewinder series is just great. I love Nick and Kelly and the adventure they continue to live through as they build a life together. Well done.

Shock & Awe left me in a state of a slight shock.And I mean it not like a sensation. Quite the opposite.Yeah..all my dear not mm-books, you can give a cheer!I am maybe not totally lost for you.Because it is not enough for me to have more than one p***s in a book to make me delighted and perfectly happy.This book is the conformation of it.It started very promising and I hoped I would like it as many other readers.But I didn't. It has a very good rating, then let me just say,that it didn't work for me, that I was NOT in the mood for the endless sex scenes without any plot and that I - it was the worst for me- didn't feel any chemistry between Nick and Kelly.I could be a picky reader. I could me a moody woman.I want everything: a good story, great characters, steamy HOT sex and fantastic chemistry between them. And the writing style.I like Cut & Run series. I like the characters. I like it's easiness, I like it's humor, I like it's absence of drama, I ADORE Zane and Ty, I like the chemistry between them, I like the development of their relationship, I like almost everything in it and I like the writing style.I am not sure about Sidewinder. Did I like it? Not really. Maybe. Sometimes. But I rolled my eyes definitely more than twice.Kelly as a character. Hmmmm....He is WHO?! A Marine? Every time I had to remind me Kelly is not she, Kelly is he. Kelly's POV...Nick. He refused to accept Kelly's "proposal" for a long 20% of the book. It is almost awkward.Sex. More like a handbook on how to turn a straight guy to gay.Let me try the next book in the series, then I can decide if I want to read more of it.The last question: Why for god sake, dear Mrs. Abigail Roux, you spend your time for something like Shock & Awe instead of working on the next sequel of Cut & Run??????P.SThe length of the novel is not an excuse.I've read recently a short novel with only 32 pages that gave me so much more than almost 100 pages of Shock & Awe.

本書は『Cut & Run』という米国における人気BLシリーズのスピンオフ小説。私は何も知らずに頁数と値段だけ見て「アメリカンBL研究でも」と本書を先に買い、本シリーズの存在さえ知らんかったもんでイミフの極みだった。「ニック」というのが登場して最初からえんえんと喋っている。何の設定説明もない。何が何だから分からない。後日、人気シリーズから派生したモンだと知り、腹を立てつつそちらを読んだら、本書の辻褄も見えたという顛末。本書は『Cut & Run』シリーズの七巻と八巻の間に来るお話。本シリーズ登場の海兵隊青年たちの再召集の前後の話『Cut & Run』は、超タフガイのFBI捜査官二名を主人公にしたBLだが、大きな脇キャラに、主人公の元海兵隊青年（タイ・グレイディ）の戦友の「ニック」ってのがいた。スピンオフの主人公がこの「ニック」君。さらに言うと、本シリーズは全九巻のうち七巻まで傑作で八巻以降で崩壊し、「トホホの八・九巻」になって急に準主役級として扱われ出したのがこの「ニック」君であった。作者は「ニック」君を好きなのかもしれないが、私は「粗末な扱いやなぁ」と感じる。脇キャラにだって魂はあるからして、粗末に（作者の都合良く）扱えば応えてくれない。本シリーズにおいても、本書においても、「海兵隊のイイ男」のはずの「ニック」君は生きていない。そこらへん、小説の神様は深遠に動く。で、なんで生きてないかったら、単純な話で「ちゃんとしたストーリーを与えられてない」から。本シリーズ同様、会話部分はホント上手い。作者はきっとイギリスのコメディとかユダヤ系コメディが好きな方だ。「面白い会話」に命を懸けている感じなど、非常に好感する。しかし小説なんだから、まともなストーリーがなくちゃダメや思います。会話部分の魅力と、戦地に赴くタイ君と「ニック」君がカチリと敬礼して搬送機に乗り込む場面が美しいので三ツ星を進呈するが（甘い）、内輪受け同人作家でもないのにいい加減なスピンオフやらやられるとガッカリである。という訳で、勝手に日米BL比較論をば。日本のBLにもスピンオフ物はあるが、初心者を想定した背景説明くらいはある。それから大きなマイ仮説が一個ある。ジャパニーズBLをご存知の方々、重々承知なさっているでしょう。日本のBLにはレイプが物凄く多いと。アメリカンBL…といっても『Cut & Run』しか読んでおらない身なのでかなり乱暴な仮説になるんだが（しかし人気No.1シリーズらしいので良いサンプルではあると思う）、アメリカンBLではおそらく「レイプはタブー」だと思う。ここは日米のBL比較として衝撃的なほど大きな違い。同時に、レイプが花盛りの日本のBL小説はたとえ翻訳されたにしても（されないだろうが）、アメリカでは受け入れられないであろう。日本のBLは病的か…？という疑問も湧いたりして（そりゃ病的や）。という訳で、両国のBLを読み込んでいる方の論駁をお待ち申し上げます。

CUT & RUN　シリーズのスピンオフで、タイの海兵隊時代の戦友で親友のニックが、同じく戦友のケリーとできちゃうお話。時系列で読むと、おもしろい。ってか、これ、短くて、そういうシーンばっかりで、薄い同人誌って感じなのかな。スピンオフの２巻はそれなりの長さがあったけども。ケリーが男同士ってことに好奇心旺盛にぐいぐい攻めていって、（ケリーのけがもあって、ニックは最初は引き気味）、よい味を出していた。それまでぜーんぜん注目してなかったけど、なかなかいいキャラかもしれない。タイとゼインのカップルとちがって、この二人は受け攻め固定のよう。私はどちらかといえば、リバってくれたほうが好きだけど、これはこれで、ありかなとも思う。

Ich liebe ja die Cut & Run Serie also war auch die Sidewinder Story ein MUSS. Abigailstyle geschrieben und man sollte vorher zum Besseren Verständnis die Cut & Run Bücher lesen, da einem sonst Erstens eine wunderbare Geschichte entgeht und Zweitens die Vorgeschichte zu Nick und Kelly.

Es war wie immer ein Genuss in die Welt von Ty und Zane bzw. jetzt Nick und Kelly einzutauchen.Leider war das ganze viel zu kurz !!!!
