20 years of wearing these Cole Haan shoes and I can tell you the differences!
I have been purchasing and wearing Cole Haan Pinched Tassel shoes for 20 years, I always get 10.5E for a wider width and these shoes are the same as I have always purchased directly from Cole Haan. Having said that, I will say these shoes I purchased are the "older" style of soles, these are all leather uppers and soles, the "newer" Cole Haan Pinched Tassell shoes I have purchased over the past 3 years, have a half rubber front sole and half leather heel sole which gives better grip on the streets, carpets, tile, sidewalks, etc. A few reviewers said these shoes are slippery on the bottom soles, that "IS" correct, the older style, which is what these are, do slip slide and you must rough them up in the beginning. I put my new shoes on and go out to my sidewalk and kind of do the twist motion on them a few times. This roughs the all leather soles up enough so they don't slip and slide. If you don't rough the bottom soles up, you are in for a fall somewhere in your future, either on carpet or even on the street. Rough the bottom soles up first and you will be good to go. These shoes fit the same as all my other Cole Haan shoes I have purchased, there is nothing different, at least to me, about the size of these shoes compared to others I have purchased, the 10.5E always fits as do these. Cole Haan probably had enough calls about people slipping with the all leather soles that they changed them to half rubber soles for better grip, which is a lot better in my opinion. However, to get the "newer" shoes, I'd have to pay $70 more than these through Cole Haan, I can do a lot of roughing up of the all leather soles for $70 and having had both the all leather soles and half leather half rubber soles, I can tell you for me, they wear the same, neither pair last longer or shorter than the other. I also use Cole Haan restoration services. Those services come with the new rubber half soles and they cost $95 to restore the soles and I have to also pay for shipping, so for the price of "brand new" shoes, I'll stick with these and just watch my step! ;>) These shoes are a great price! The least I've paid for Cole Haan over the past 20 years has been about $100 so these are a great buy! I love these shoes, I wear them everyday, all day. I'm a sales representative going from one office to another and I love Cole Haan shoes, except for my tennis shoes, Cole Haan are the only shoes I have worn for work for the past 20 years, very satisfied with my purchase at an excellent 1995 price tag ;>)

Too big/scuffed floors/hassle factor
How disappointing. This was w/o a doubt the most disastrous Amazon purchase ever. I had three pair of this exact model purchased on internet from Nordstrom. Black, cordovan, calf skin. All are great. I just wanted a back up pair. So, Cole Haan is changing the model specs (my guess)--I could not acquire them from any high-end store-and I was forced to buy from Amazon. They came, and were too large. I knew about the 'don't return if you wear them'----OK. I thought about it, then put in a tongue pad/spacer. It helped. Manageable only. Still a little loose. I hate to return stuff.I wore them to work. After a hour or so, I noticed they were scuffing the floors-copiously. Total bummer. After much back and forth w Amazon, I was forced to pay for shipping up front, and now am waiting for a qualifying item (sold and shipped by Amazon) to get my $15 shipping back.(My cobbler looked the shoe over, and said it looked fine (before I wore it in public)I thought the press die to put "COLE HAAN" on the sole was not as crisp as the other 'real/authentic' pairs. All the shoes, the good three pairs, and this sorry one say made in India.)The outfit that sold the shoe did credit my account-but they didn't like it.The entire affair was way way over the top in aggravation. I will never ever buy shoes from anywhere but a super quality vendor like Nordstrom, Niemann-Marcus, etc.Bottom line----Shoe too big, and scuffed floors (note I have three pair of exact same shoe that were perfect.)....plus no shipping label given to me.

I've worn this exact pairs of shoes for 20 years ...
I've worn this exact pairs of shoes for 20 years or more. first time from Amazon. After wearing it for a few days I noticed the height of the shoe (part the rubs on the Achilles tendon) is a bit short than typical. I compared it to the black colored version and visually I can see the difference as well. Still wearable but quality control seems a bit off. non tassel version of this shoe had defective leather seams inside. we'll see how long these will last. I already had Vibram sole protector and heel protector installed as well. to me Vibram sole protector is a must otherwise it's too slippery on carpet and smooth surfaced floorings

Not the shoe it used to be
I have worn Cole Haan loafers for years and have always been more than satisfied with the way they hold up and wear. It would not be uncommon for me to have a pair re-soled and -heeled many times because the top side aged so well. Something has changed - the leather is thinner and has less structure to it; the sides in the area in front of the heel and below the ankle almost immediately developed a warped or wavy appearance. I sent the first pair back and am now breaking in a second pair with the hope that it will do better than the first. However, the same problem, to a lesser degree, appears to still be there and it is apparent that the Cole Haan loafer that I enjoyed and got such good wear out of in the past is no longer being made.

Nice, but, run 1/2 size large.
These shoes are not to be mistaken with the "Grand Pinch" brand. Good quality, but, run half size too big. I ordered size 12D twice. First time the left shoe was too big. Second time both shoes were too big. Because I like the shoe allot, I ordered for the third time. The third order was 11 and a half. The shoe fit perfect the third time around. BTW, size 12 is my normal size. Amazon was great with the returns and refunds. Save yourself some time and order one half size down.

Not bad but not great
This review is for the Pinch Tassel Loafers. I'm comparing them to the Cole Haan Nike Air loafers which I've had for several years. Although both shoes are the same size, the Pinch Tassel Loafers are somewhat larger than the Nike Air loafers (which are tight on me). Also the sole on the Pinch Tassel loafers is leather and slippery, the Nike Air's have some rubber on the sole. These are okay shoes but not as comfortable as the Cole Haan Nike Air shoes. I'm going to get an insole and see if that resolves the looser fit and comfort issues, if it does I'll probably buy another pair of these.
