ORCATORCH D710V MK2 2300LM Tri-Color Scuba Flashlight for Dive Photography

I've owned the original version of this light for years, so I was excited to put the updated model through its paces during my recent trip to Cozumel. OrcaTorch managed to make it noticeably smaller while increasing the output, and the difference is immediately obvious underwater. The brighter, more focused beam was excellent for illuminating Cozumel's swim-throughs and caves during the day, while still being compact enough that I hardly noticed it mounted to my camera housing. One of my favorite improvements is the red light mode. For underwater photography on night dives, it's a huge advantage because it lets you work around marine life with far less disturbance before switching to white light when needed. I used this light mounted directly to my underwater camera housing throughout several night dives, and it performed flawlessly. Although some of the attached photos show my son using the light, that's simply because it made for a great subject while I was behind the camera. I've been diving with OrcaTorch lights for years, and they're the only dive lights I trust and carry. The build quality is exceptional, the controls are easy to operate even with gloves, and they've proven to be incredibly reliable dive after dive. If you own the original version, this is absolutely worth the upgrade. If you're looking for your first premium dive light, I can recommend this one without hesitation—it's another outstanding product from OrcaTorch that earns a well-deserved five stars.

I picked up the D710V MK2 for a recent trip where I knew I'd be doing some tighter photography, and it has quickly become a staple in my kit. The first thing you notice is the build quality. It feels solid in the hand without being a brick, which is huge when you are already task-loaded. The beam is incredibly smooth. That 120-degree spread is no joke, there are zero hot spots, which makes post-processing your video so much easier since you don't have those blown-out white circles in the middle of the frame. Switching between the white, red, and UV modes is intuitive even with thick gloves on. The UV/Violet mode is a total blast for seeing coral fluorescence, and the red is perfect for sneaking up on skittish macro life without scaring them off. What really sold me was how it handled during my cave dives. In an overhead environment, you need gear that is reliable and easy to toggle. Even when pushing through some tighter restrictions, the light held up against the limestone and didn't skip a beat. The battery life is solid for two long dives on full power, though I usually swap it just to be safe. If you are looking for a compact video light that punches way above its weight class for both open water and more technical environments, this is definitely worth the investment. It makes lighting up a dark caves feel effortless.

I love this light more than I expected to. I’ll get to that a little later in this review. I’ll start with the easy part - the construction. This is an Orcatorch and is everything I have come to expect from them. It is made from airplane grade aluminum and you can feel the quality, Everything about the light feels like it is made to last. From the switch, which feels solid and has a nice little LED light in the center to let you know charge status, and the way that the light opens for the battery compartment so smoothly - you know this is not a cheap light. It is solid. It comes with two batteries, and I really like that. It is always nice to have an extra battery to change in between dives and not having to worry about charging on a boat or at the beach. These batteries have a USB C port built right in so to charge them you just plug a USB C cable into the battery and plug the other end into a power source. The D710V MK2 also comes with a convenient USB C to A cable but any one should work. The light has a triple O-ring design so as long as you keep them clean and lubricated you should not have a flooding problem. It also comes with an extra set of 3 O-rings so this really is meant to last many years and many dives. Now to the meat and potatoes of this review - how it performs. I’ll start with saying that I already own the D710V MK1 - and that has been my favorite video dive light for a while. And when I saw the specs on the MK2 I was a bit skeptical. On paper it is a bit brighter but it comes at the cost of a little bit of battery life. I thought this was a bad idea. And then I went diving with it. The MK2 is noticeably brighter than the MK1 - much more than I expected. It really is going to make a difference in my underwater photos and videos. It is really nice and has no rough edges around the perimeter of the light - perfect for pictures and videos, I took it on a long dive - 69 minutes and he LED light was still green - so the light should last a long time. Will it last two dives? Probably not, but after a bit of thought I realized the MK1 would not either. So it still has more than enough power for a very long dive and it had that nice added bonus of extra brightness - one that you will really appreciate. On the MK1 I never really used the red or ultra-violet modes, They did not seen strong enough to be very useful, On the MK2 both these modes have a huge boost in power and it is VERY noticeable, Overall, I strongly recommend this light. It is reasonably priced and will make an excellent primary video dive light. Your pictures and videos will thank you.

After extensive testing and research, this underwater light proved to be a great choice for my diving and photography. I dive in cold water, travel internationally for liveaboard diving and I needed the light for my photography and gopro videos, that is small and practical, durable enough to handle rough use and easy to operate with gloves. The flashlight provides impressive brightness and wide beam to cover my subjects. The color comes out to be quite natural or can be tweaked in photo editor to bring out the details. The included ball joint bracket is super convenient to attach with the camera tray. I could easily get two to three one-hour dives with a single charge if I turn on/off while taking my pictures and not using it all the time. I found the high intensity mode is generally too bright. So, I primarily use the low mode and red light for night dives. The green light on the button is also useful to know how much battery is remaining without worrying about the dead battery. For the night dives, the red light is quite useful to find the animals before I turn on video light to take pictures. The build is quite solid to handle the rough and tumble of multi-day boat dives. I took it down to 100 ft without any issues and battery worked flawlessly.For the best battery life during long dive trips, I switch between the two included batteries and charge them during surface intervals. The low mode is perfect for most situations and helps extend battery life significantly.

I’ve used the OrcaTorch D710V on multiple dives now — it’s easily become one of my favorite pieces of dive gear. The build quality is outstanding — solid, rugged, and clearly designed to handle saltwater and deep dives. To hook it up with my gear, I added a bolt snap attachment with extra fluorescent yellow line I had, and now it easily clips onto my BCD. The beam is super bright with great coverage, perfect for both general diving and underwater photography; though obviously more suited for underwater photography/videos due to the wide 120* degree beam. One of the reasons I chose to purchase this light as compared with some competitors was the 2000 lumen setting (many others maxed at 600 lumens), and the brightness does not disappoint in exposing the finest details of underwater creatures. Furthermore, the red and UV modes are excellent for night dives and spotting marine life, though I have not yet fully utilized these modes yet and will continue experimenting with them. Switching between modes is as easy as a light press on the button, even with gloves on (cold water diver). I have also been impressed with its battery life — last week I did 2 dives on the same afternoon with good runtime of this light, and still ended the 2nd dive with a “green” indicator on, meaning more than 40% light still remaining. I also appreciate that it comes with a USB-C rechargeable battery - makes recharging very easy! No water leak issues into the battery (yet but hopefully never!) Overall, an outstanding dive light that delivers on all fronts. Highly recommended for recreational and professional divers alike! Picture and video attached is unedited and not corrected in any way - hence why they are blurry but that's my camera's problem, not the light.

I recently added this to my OrcaTorch lights for both day and night dives. This is now my night dive light of choice. Well built, balanced weight and size that easily clips onto D-ring and out of way if not in use. The light beam is consistent with two brightness options which are perfect for night dives and not over powering nor brighter focus beam that can startle critters. I found the red and violet color settings very beneficial-red was less startling to the sea life as the violet made corals and other features fluoresce. Best for dive dives in my opinion versus day dives. Pics don’t do justice. Great light-recommend.

I bought this to supplement/replace some higher end expensive dive video lights that are not rated as bright. Initial impressions are excellent for build quality, uniform bright flood light beam and 21700 battery type. The battery lasted 1.5 hrs on high in a bucket of water. I have not tested it on a dive yet. High hopes, and I hope to buy more. But a mild concern is that the brightness of the hi 2000 lumen setting seems to be inconsistent, when comparing to my 1000 lumen higher end dive light in a large dark room. Sometimes the 2000 lumen output is only a bit brighter than the 1000 lumen other light, and other times it is super bright. It is fully charged, and I am on the correct switch setting. This is admittedly highly subjective, but I it would be great if a flashlight website could do formal testing of the output. I will update in the future. Update: I will test 2 of these lights on a dive trip soon., but in the meantime, after about 4 cycles of charging and running down in a bucket of water, the lights continue to perform well, and seem consistent in bright output. Also, the company Orcatorch and its vendor Odepro Outdoor, were both responsive to a question and seem very interested in customer satisfaction. Update Feb 12 2024: I used two of these lights on 5 dives of up to 110 ft, and neither leaked or blew. Nice! For my GoPro/Backscatter dual handle rig they provided pretty good wide angle light coverage. The batteries lasted for over 2 dives on full power per charge. Two suggestions for Orcatorch: make a model without the red and UV bulb settings, as they just slow things down while you cycle through them underwater for normal filming. Second, the beam angle deflector is pretty wide but might be wider, as some of my GoPro wide angle shots did not have full coverage of the frame with 2 lights and required light arm adjusting. The "edge" between the lit area and the unlit area was quite distinct and will require later cropping. Not a big deal. Overall, I am happy with these lights and with Orcatorch.

Light worked great as expected from Orcatorch. Used on approx 20 dives in one week down to about 80 feet. The battery lasted a good amount of time (I don’t generally let batteries get too low so I don’t risk not having a light). The multiple color options was great and were easy to cycle through when needed. Would definitely buy again. Light is small and easily fits in a BCD pocket if needed. Has a nice case to hold everything.

Buen producto. la luz blanca muy potente, la roja muy bien y el UV más tenue pero acercando la linterna se ve muy bien las cosas que reflejan UV. Recomendado
