*MJR Reference* But legit, clicky thumbsticks are rad!
A high-quality construction and great homage to the original. Having owned a couple NGCDs, I have a special place in my heart for their wonky little controller. I played many first rounds of fighting games over and over with the "click click" of the microswitched marvel singing me to my defeat once the NeoGeo Hard rounds started. And while this isn't a 1:1 match, it sings in the same key.The 'click' is more of a 'clack,' but a very pleasant clack it is. It almost has a bamboo windchime tone, versus the 'pinging' click of the original. The feel is wonderful. Pulling off a half circle is auditorily and tactilely satisfying. This is the mechanical keyboard of 6 button controllers. The buttons are pleasant plastic with good travel and decent response. The shoulder buttons, while apocryphal, are a very welcome addition, allowing this as an easy option for Genesis, SNES, GBA, and other 6 button offerings.FPGA fans should rejoice given the recent news regarding cores coupled with this timely controller. Good stuff.Pros:Solid constructionUSB-CTactile 'clicky' thumbstickQuality of life improvements over the originalCons:Not 100% analogous to the original (frankly, in a good way, but I can see this being a con to some)

Takes some getting used to.
The feel in the hand is great. If your worried the weird asymmetric thickness, don't. You won't notice it.You might notice the face buttons are a fair bit stiffer then a typical gamepad, but given they are also bigger then a typical gamepad it just kinda feels right. Specially for Arcade games. It is something that if you spent all day playing with this controller, then picked up a Saturn, or the M30 controller you'd go "Oh these buttons are really light."Now the main draw: That clicky stick!I never owned a Clicky stick gamepad before and this definitely needs some getting used to.The dead zone is... larger then I'd like, and contributes to something I noticed while playing around with some games. I am not a fighting game person, so maybe this is a feature, but I found it kinda easy to 'skip' diagonals when doing circle motions. For games that primarily use 4 directions this is a unique and fun controller to use.

Nice combination of arcade stick and controller
When I bought the Neo Geo Mini, part of the disappointment for me was that the arcade stick didn't really feel like an arcade stick. I have a Mayflash arcade stick on hand, but for whatever reason, it wouldn't work with the Neo Geo mini. So I turned to Amazon and found this. I didn't really have much experience with the 8BitDo brand personally, but I have always heard good things about them, so I went ahead and bought one.The main thing I like about this controller is the clickiness of the stick. It's kind of a hyrbrid between an arcade stick and a modern day controller's thumbstick and seems to sit on a ball joint of sorts. While it doesn't give the feeling of holding an arcade stick, I think it works pretty well for emulating that arcade feeling.I haven't had it very long so I don't know how long the battery will last or how long the controller will last, but it feels pretty sturdy in the hand and the controller connected right away to the dongle. The dongle itself is a USB, so you can plug it into anything that accepts USB; however, the Neo Geo Mini (the thing that I bought it specifically for) does not have a USB port, so 8BitDo includes a USB to USB C adapter in the box. Can't see them selling a controller for the Neo Geo Mini without an adapter, but it's still really nice to know it's there.Controller itself charges with a USB to USB C adapter, which is also included. Even though the controller connects to the dongle via 2.4...signal (not sure what exactly it's called), there is a switch on the back that sets it to bluetooth. I don't know the range or reliability of the bluetooth, but the 2.4 seemed pretty good. I didn't notice any sort of lag. I played some shooters on the Neo Geo and it seemed to be pretty accurate.Unlike Retro Fighter's controllers, there's no Turbo feature, which is not a deal breaker for me, but should be noted. All in all, though, this was a great purchase and has made my Neo Geo experience better.
