Muir Glen Organic Crushed Fire Roasted Canned Tomatoes, 14.5 oz. (Pack of 12)

These are my favorite. They have the best flavor and are so fresh, but they have gotten too expensive, and I just can't afford them any longer. Bummer!

This is the best tomato company on the market and these fire roasted crushed tomatoes are fabulou. They are good for all sauces and pizza. They have a clean, sweet tomato taste that no other brand has. I love all their tomato products for the flavor, quality, and versatility. Try them and you’ll change brands immediately. They are even better than most Italian and imported brands. You will not be disappointed,

I love canned tomatoes. These are great for slow braising roasts, bone in shanks, lamb legs and more. I usually add fresh garlic, ginger, turmeric. They are a great base for slow cooking, set it and forget it cooking. The leftover sauce is meat flavored which makes great sauce for pasta, rice, mashed potatoes.

I use canned tomatoes in, well, nearly most things I cook. I tend to stock up on the 32oz cans of whole plum tomatoes but sometimes you just need a little less, and the fire-roasted flavor can be a nice touch. I prefer to buy organic wherever possible and reasonable, and I like most Muir Glen products. These tomatoes are good, though they are packed in more of a water than sauce, so I always drain them before use. Some other canned tomato products I will dump straight into the pot, but I don't think these are great for that. They also aren't ideal for making tomato sauces but I use them for lots of other things: adding some tomato to bean chilis, throwing together a quick salsa, making spanish rice, adding to soups or stews, and (this is seriously delicious) stirring into a prepared batch of Annie's mac and cheese, along with a can of chickpeas. If you haven't tried this, it is SO good for a quick meal. Great pantry staple, at a MUCH better price with subscribe and save than you'd pay at the grocery store.

When I can't get fresh or family jarred tomatoes (or I'm making something for an office setting where I don't love the people enough to use my own tomatoes!!) this is what I use. The flavor is great. I've ordered a few times, sometimes they're packaged really well, sometimes Amazon just throws them in a huge box where they get tossed around and you end up with dented jars. I still keep ordering!

It is so hard to find the 15 oz. can size of Muir Glen Fire Roasted Crushed Tomatoes, and I need them in lots of recipes. It's the fire-roasted process that makes these so delicious in recipes! I was so happy to be able to order a case of them on Amazon.
