5 stars for the kit with remote handle
I give 5 stars to this Feiyu [pronounced "Fay-yoo"] Pocket 3 kit that combines the wonderful detachable Pocket 3 gimbal camera with the remote handle. A quick word: I do NOT recommend using the Pocket 3 with a phone. The genius that designed this otherwise wonderful little action cam decided to make the *shutter button* double-duty as the Wi-Fi button, which means a very frustrating experience each time you turn on the camera Wi-Fi in order to pair with your phone. For instance, just now it took me over 20 false starts to enter the Wi-Fi mode, because each of the first 20 attempts ended up with the shutter button acting as shutter and starting the video recording! If you use it with your phone, I'd give this 3 stars -- 5 for the camera itself (save for the Wi-Fi function), 1 for the Wi-Fi function (which, BTW, is also really slow and has significant lags whether you use your phone as a viewfinder or for downloading files from the camera). The camera itself is amazing. Its most salient feature is, of course, its detachability and the built-in magnet in the base. I won't wax lyrical about the camera's features and quality; other reviews have been mostly spot-on. My main interest is its usability, or user-friendliness. The three buttons on the camera itself: power, mode and shutter, are small. For the most part they work well; the only exception is the aforementioned shutter button double-dutying as Wi-Fi button (dumbest design in a gadget I've seen in a long time). The tiny screen on the camera itself does not preview the scene; it just gives some basic info such as the gimbal mode and battery status. Of course, you're probably like me and are considering this for the gimbal part. The 3-axis gimbal works really well. It has the usual 4 gimbal modes on consumer 3-axis gimbals such as the DJI Osmo Mobile SE (which, BTW, has a 5th mode called spin mode which this Pocket 3 lacks). Because the Pocket 3 camera is so light-weight and the handle is also very light, it's definitely more susceptible to sudden movements than a real gimbal like the Osmo, but as long as you don't make crazy wild movements, the gimbal works very well in stabilizing your shots. I've very happy with the gimbal on this. The videos and photos are saved to a separately purchased microSDXC card; remember to purchase one! The U3 type is required, and I have both Lexar and Kodak cards and they work flawlessly. I believe Feiyu recommends Lexar and Sandisk, but the super-inexpensive Kodak works perfectly for me. Up to 512GB is supported and you do need at least 256GB. To download the videos and photos, you can use the free FeiyuCam app (which, of course, requires you to go through the painful process of connecting via Wi-Fi as described above, and downloading speed is in the kbps ranges rather than the mbps we're now accustomed to!), or just yank out the microSD card and put it in a microSD reader on your computer. (I use a Lexar SD-microSD adapter that came with the microSD card, on my M3 MacBook Pro.) The best things about the Pocket 3 are its lightweight, detachability (which allows for amazing creativity which is the reason I bought this), and 3-axis gimbal. Instead of taking out my iPhone and pairing it with a gimbal and then fumbling around for the best position, I can simply whip out my Pocket 3 (with the handle) and start shooting within 2 seconds. Sure, the 1-inch LCD screen on the handle is not great, but it surprisingly suffices in most shooting situations. Of course, as long as you dont' mind the frustrating Wi-fi function on this, you can always use your iPhone to control this little capable camera and get more out of its myriad features especially various camera controls. Either way, this camera is simply one of the best ways to shoot creative videos.

Amazing little action cam, with a few caveats.
This is an excellent little camera with a ton of features. I'm not going to list all of the features as anybody that has made it this far has surely looked through all of the marketing materials, and as such should be familiar with what it can do. I'm going to stick to the important stuff; the general experience I've had using this little action cam for two months. The Good: -NO APP OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED! Of course one is available (no account required) and is lite and easy to use. Gives you easy access to some more advanced camera functions. FeiyuTech updates their stuff, too, as I've learned from using the Scorp gimbal. Good stuff. -Video image quality is excellent, provided you are using a card that can handle the bitrate. -Photo quality is very good, but not excellent. Yields great results in the right conditions. -Image stabilization is 5 stars; absolutely excellent. Exceeded my expectations by a significant margin. -The camera itself is magnetic. -Camera mount and remote have standard 1/4" threaded insert. -The camera can be used without the remote, with or without the app. -The remote will charge the camera. -On-screen menus are simple and self explanatory, and accessed by swiping the touch screen (different directions for different menus). -Switching between modes on the fly is seamless. -Track mode works reasonably well. -Good build quality. -Good instructions included, and more detailed instructions available with QR code or from their website. -Lots of video tutorials from FeiyuTech showing how to do anything and everything. The Bad: -No external mic support (possibly addressable with firmware updates). -Mediocre sound quality. -Battery life. Not enough to run a 1 hour time-lapse at 1 frame per second while being controlled via WiFi without the remote or an external power source. -Screen is a bit small -Touch control could be a bit frustrating, and I have standard, run of the mill, average sized hands. Could be a problem for folks with larger hands. -Low light performance is mediocre My overall experience is positive. The first thing I did was take this camera on my buddies 18' boat to rip around the bay. When I got home and viewed the videos, I was immediately blown away at the image quality and stabilization. Butter smooth. Even though its a tiny little gimbal, it has big gimbal energy with the way it handled a choppy boat ride. The only real disappointments I have are the battery life and the lack of support for an external mic. The battery life issue is a bit of a wildcard as it's only an issue in certain scenarios. While rigging an external battery is not a big deal for a time-lapse, a bit more battery life would still be nice. However, the lack of external mic support could be a deal breaker for some, and I feel FeiyuTech should address this with a firmware update asap, if possible. The lackluster low light performance is not a concern for me. It's still good enough to be usable, so like the [camera only] battery life, it's a compromise that I can live with. Overall, I am giving this kit 4 stars. Given how much I like this thing, I want to give it 5 stars, and likely would if it had support for an external mic. That being said, I would actually recommend this over its DJI counterpart for the right user. For anybody that is like me and likes the versatility of being able to stick the thing to a fence post or prop it up in a tree without having to fiddle with your phone, this is the clear winner. Kudos to FeiyuTech for releasing another excellent product.

Fantastic Service, Defective Cameras – Heartbroken Experience
I really wanted this pocket camera to work, but unfortunately, both units I received were flawed. Customer service was excellent—they promptly sent me a replacement—but the product itself was disappointing. Here are the major issues I encountered: Swipe-down function doesn’t work. This is critical for accessing settings. I couldn’t change the language (it defaulted to Chinese/Mandarin), making the camera nearly unusable. Severe lag and performance problems. Both cameras had noticeable delays and didn’t function correctly. After two attempts, I believe this entire batch may be defective. Micro SD card slot design flaw. The card must be inserted upside down, which is counterintuitive. I even lost $45 on a jammed card because of this. I’m heartbroken because I had high hopes for this product, but I’m now forced to return it a second time. While the customer service team was great, the product quality was very poor.

Awesome for the Jeep
I've been running a GoPro Session on an Evo gimbal for a few years on my Jeep as I run trails. I waste a lot of footage though because I can't stop or pause recording when I need to; I have to get out of the Jeep. Sometimes I forget and run down the battery without realizing it. The absolute main feature of this camera is that I can stick the head on the hood and see and control it from the handle. This, obviously, is something my Osmo Pocket 3 can't do. It's easy to change modes and the quality is quite acceptable. The magnetic base sticks quite well and handles washboards and speeds up to 75 mph (I haven't tried faster). Of course, you get overwhelming wind noise though. I think I'll get a 2nd one for a rear mounted gimbal. I like it a lot and have no reservation about getting another one.

3 replacements in 3 weeks of ownership
I wanted to do so much with this review, but unfortunately the pocket 3 was not having it. In the first three weeks of ownership I had to have the feiyutech pocket 3 replaced a total of 3 times. Since then I have been extremely careful and gun shy to even use the device. It repeatedly gave me gimbal errors and sudden power offs. When the device did work it was. The video quality is fine. It’s good in decent light but falls apart quickly in low light. The stabilization is actually pretty good. The audio is down right awful, and there is no way to fix it as the gimbal does not have external mic support. Which for a content creator focused device is a poor decision. I will say both amazon customer service and Feiyutech Customer service were great at getting replacements out. However the device is not ready for real world use. Having to replace it 3 times in three weeks is an unacceptably high failure rate, and the lack of external mic support makes this an easy skip.

Critical image quality just isn't there
Stabilization is absolutely fantastic. The image quality coming out of the lens, bad. If image quality is paramount, this isn't the pick. Low-light performance is non-existent. It not even that low-light performance is bad, it just won't expose high enough. The app is more like a platform for serving ads and collecting information than a tool; do I really have to sign up for an account to use the app and camera together? The camera offers a 4x zoom but it's just a digital zoom. The lens quality becomes immediately apparent that it's not up to the task of resolving that kind of image. At 4x it starts to look like the average dashcam which is pretty bad. I pulled some technical specs off a test video 1920x1080 at 30fps 4:2:0 Chroma subsampling 8-bit color depth 5.6mbit/sec bitrate AVC [email protected] encoding Audio is 2 channel 128kbit/sec @ 48Khz The bitrate of the video is pretty low. For busy scenes there just isn't enough bitrate to capture fast moving action, though I guess the gimbal takes care of a lot of that. The audio is really low bitrate and will start muddling in anything like a crowd or music venue. The 4x slowmo is captured pretty strangely. The video is still 1920x1080 @ 30fps, but the bitrate goes up to 15mbit/sec and the audio isn't recorded at all. The video is 'technically' recording at 120fps, but It's just slowed down to a permanent .25x speed and shown at 30fps. Strange, why not just encode at 1920x1080@120fps? At this price point it may make more sense to get a 360 camera. They also have otherworldly stabilization properties and have about the same video quality per MOA.

Perfect
I used this to make BTS video for my photography business. It’s perfect. The magnetic base allows for some really creative shots.

A flexible action and vlogging cam, very light and compact with good video and sound
This was for the bundle version which consists of the remote handle and the pocket 3 camera w/mini tripod. This also had nice drawstring carrying bags, USB-A to USB-C charging cable, and a wrist strap. I found the video quality to be pretty good with this camera but was a little disappointed in the stabilization from this mini-gimbal camera. The gimbal may not have met my expectations for stabilization while walking, but it was AWESOME when used for remote pan and tilt functions with the remote handle. The built in magnetic base allowed some easy placement of the camera on typical metal surfaces. Another thing that frustrated me in the beginning was that the horizon wasn't set to the level I would expect out of the box. There is a built-in calibration of the camera that needs to be done to correct this and it is fairly easy to do, but not as obvious as it should be. This kit includes nearly everything you need to get going, with the glaring exception of a memory card. For the price of this kit, I would've appreciated at least a 32GB card to be included as a microSD card is very inexpensive nowadays. My only real concern with this camera going forward is the built-in battery. This limits your continuous use in a session, and I foresee this shortening the useful life of this camera. The battery has a relatively short run time and does not appear to be a user serviceable part. For how small, compact, and lightweight this camera is I suppose compromises had to be made somewhere. If you are looking for a compact camera that has some remote-control abilities this is a nice camera. I don't think it is a great action cam to be used on the body, but it does have good video quality. I'm rating this camera four out of five stars. Handle charges at 9-watts, camera at 5-watts Pros - Very small and lightweight - Touch screen controls on handle Cons - Does not come with a memory card - Out of the box, horizon not level. Requires calibration to level - No external mic input - Integrated batteries

Not for Professionals
I’m disappointed with this camera, I really wish it was better. Quality seems far less than 4K for sure. Really difficult to colour grade on the flat profile. Battery life is awful.
