Aluminum die

very cool

I just recently got a portable stick welder, which will be my first welding device. I was trying to think of useful ways to practice when I came across this welding practice kit...which is exactly what I needed. It never dawned on me that there might be welding practice kits like this so kudos to someone thinking ahead about it. I suspect I'll have a hard enough time getting straight welds down like the corners of this die, but I will be looking to find similar kits of other metals and shapes that might suffice to elevate my skills outside of the practice of actual useful projects around my house since I only have one of those in mind. Plus, it's my expectation that different metals can behave a bit differently when welding, so I'd like to be prepared for whatever next welding task might come my way. The dice itself arrives flat, not pre-bent as I thought it might from first glance at the product images, so you'll have to bend them into place before welding; no biggy. They appear to be laser cut so everything is pretty precise, which is good to make it easier for a n00b to line up the edges.

Nowhere close to the pictures! I am not happy with this purchase in the slightest. Did not come with 6 blanks like the pictures. They were not separated like the pictures. You must break them apart and it leave nasty knobs on the edges. Thats just dumb in my opinion. They should have pictures of the REAL product you are buying. The product video shows the real crap you get. Way too much prep work for this to be practical.

I understand what this product is. I just hate it when people don't take pride in their work. What I am saying is if you think you are going to just open this product and get to welding you are wrong. Being this is aluminum to ensure good strong welds it needs to be clean. I will clean this up and debur the edges before I weld it. I hope this is the only one they sold that made it past their qc like this. If you are going to sell something for others to learn how to weld take the time to set them up for success not failure. I am a welder fabricator with years in the field.
