Works for my purposes. Will likely need sharpening often.
I have a number of very expensive German and Japanese knives, but wanted a cheaper knife to be kept in the basement where I grow almost all of our veggies and herbs. Since I often have a table full of tomatoes ripening on a table, I wanted a cheaper knife to keep handy in the basement to core tomatoes as they ripen for freezing. Although I fully expect this knife to require frequent sharpening, the blade should last for a while for coring tomatoes. The blade of this knife is made of stainless steel which does not hold a sharp edge for very long. Let's face it. If you are looking for a high-end knife with a quality blade that stays sharp longer, it's going to cost you a lot more than $9. This knife does come with a protective sheath to protect the blade which I appreciate. This knife was sharp enough, and not dull, when I receive it, and will serve my purpose. Let's face it, you are not going to find a high quality knife at this price. One thing I did notice is that, although easy to use, this knife is heavy for it's size. If it should break, as some reviewers reported, losing $9 is no big deal, but this knife is supposed to have a lifetime warranty. So, I have to wonder why people complaining about it breaking did not request a replacement. UPDATE 06/0/25: I have had this knife for about a week and have used it often during this time. I have to say I am impressed with how sharp this knife is. I accidentally light touched it on my hand while coring tomatoes and cut my hand. In the past, I have bought more expensive knives that needed sharpening before the first use. So, I was surprised how sharp this knife is "out-of-the-box". As mentioned previously, it may not stay sharp for long, but I will either sharpen it, or, considering the price, just replace it. At this point, I would recommend this knife. Considering the price, I am happy with this knife. I will update this review if my opinion change. I hope this review was helpful for you.

Sturdy and sharp
We needed a short, sturdy, sharp paring knife. The last one was an ancient Henkels, a great do-all knife. I admit to slight knife snobbery but the reviews on this Cuisinart knife were compelling, which I found unusual on a commercial brand at the price point. Turns out, I love this little workhorse! Pares fruit cleanly and cuts up veggies from tomatoes to potatoes, and works well for small kitchen tasks such as cubing small amounts of meat and cheese. The design may not be elegant, but it works well, and is a good value.

Sharp, and Handles Well.
This is a very nice paring knife. It has its own little cover , it's very sharp and the handle, it's heavy and fits in your hand just right. I've gotten a lot of use out of it already.

Love this knife!
I love this knife! It is easy to grip and very sharp. Cuts smoothly through anything. I use the cover that came with and hoping it stays sharp for a long time.

Nice little knife!
I needed a new paring knife, and I love this little knife. I love that it comes with a protective sleeve, so there's no risk of cutting myself when I take it out of the drawer. It works like a charm (have YOU ever tried to peel kiwi fruit? ) and it's easy to clean (hot soapy water, towel dry, and back into its sleeve!) . It seems sturdy to me, so it's easy to use, easy to clean, easy to store--what's not to like?

Nice and sharp.
A sharp not too expensive pairing knife that does exactly what I need. Feels very sturdy and looks nice. Hand wash this to keep it sharper longer. Dishwashers have abrasives in the detergent that will dull a knife faster so you'll have to sharpen it sooner. Myth: Dishwashers dry at a very high temperature and ruin the metallurgy of a knife. False. They don't run nearly hot enough to do this. It's just the abrasive detergent dulling the knife faster.

Great knife
I have been looking for an additional paring knife that is as good as my current knife, made in Japan, bearing the inscription "Diamond Cut" and model 1087-M. The knife I have is a serrated knife, and I use it every day. My efforts to buy another one of equal quality have ended me up with a collection of knives that are very mediocre, until I came across this Cuisinart knife. The Cuisinart knife is not serrated, but very sharp, and comes close to the "Diamond Cut" knife I have. The other thing I like about it is its low price. Once the edge becomes dull, I will have a chance to find out how well it sharpens. So far I have been very pleased.
