Are there any pot/pan materials I can’t use on this?

Well nothing made from wood, paper or plastic! lol...So far I have used just regular metal pots and pans including those suitable for use on induction hobs. No problems I could see so far. I would monitor the hob very carefully though. Not sure it's a good idea to have both rings on at once. I had smoke coming from unit when right hand ring was in use. I only used the left one after that.

Is this a halogen hob?

Hi Steve, it doesn't mention halogen in the instruction booklet - just says infrared. I'm using it now, it really is a good little hob.

is it low energy .how much electric does it use

Hiya, to be candid I have never metered its use. But it's running at 2kw hour so I'm guessing with my current rate it works out at just over 70 uk pence an hour to run on full, but don't quote me! I've not noticed unusually high bills, apart from when heating the house. It's perfect for my small kitchen and works really well.

Has this got a noisy fan?

It hasn't got a fan. It has two electrically (mains powered) hobs. it's silent.
