No. There is no insulation in the pack at all. Just water resistant.

I'm big guy. What waist does strap accomodate?

I'm 6ft. 180. For you I think it would be too small. You have the shoulder and chest straps to consider also. With so many choices available I'd look at them.

The seller's video showing a laptop being inserted into the back is not very helpful since laptops come in many sizes. However, one of the first reviews (by Illinoisan) clarifies by saying "it will fit a 16" laptop, but just barely."
