definitely worth it for kittens, adults lose interest after a short while
This toy is great for kittens, my adult cats lost interest after a day or two, but after picking up an abandoned kitten from the side of the highway, this toy is a godsend. The kitten loves it & plays with it for hours, which she can because 1. long lasting battery - it lasts for days because it will turn itself off after a period of being ignored. 2. random motion keeps her interested 3. even tho hard to catch, she does occasionally and will drag it around the floor because it is light, so I'm not quite sure where I might find it. because she plays with it hard, grabbing it and pulling the ball to the floor and dragging it arouns, it has broken at the point were the plastic piece anchors it to the base, but because it keeps her so entertained and away from attacking my ankles i am purchasing another, and will see if I can reinforce the plastic bottom of the wand where it attaches to the base. So the adults got bored after a month, but it is great for energetic kittens and young cats who need to chase and pounce. My suggestion to the manufacturer would be a more durable piece for attaching to the base, but despite that I am purchasing another.

Kittens love it, great gift for cat lovers
Older cats, not so much. This sat around my house for about eight months while my two through four-year-old cats completely ignored it. Then I got a kitten – total game changer. He loves all the attachments and it’s easily his favorite toy besides me. I sent a video to a couple of friends who immediately wanted to know where I got it. It’s inexpensive enough that I was able to send as a gift. Minor adjustments would make it the best toy ever: I wish it had different modes. You could set like spin only, spin and shake, etc. As it is, it alternates between spinning and shaking, and turns itself off after while. It doesn’t seem to “wake up “ by being touched like some of my other interactive toys. Honestly, the shaking/rattling mode gets a little old and I end up turning it off because of that. A remote control would be amazing. I love that it charges via a USB – C., and so far the charge lasts quite a long time, especially considering how much use it gets. I already have a ton of interactive toy attachments that are light enough to work with this without weighing it down so that it won’t pop back up and spin.

Review update - great customer service!!! Still wish it didn't "travel" - otherwise my cats love it.
Review update - after my review (which is now after this review update), the company contacted me and offered me a rebate since I wasn't fully satisfied. Since my review, my cats, due to their fierce playing with the wand, had actually broken off a piece of the plastic part that holds the wand. Note: I do not view this as a failure of their product, I view this as a fact that my cats really love it and can tend to play with it really roughly (especially one of my cats - she would actually pull the wand out of the device a few times). So, I have come back and bumped this up to 4 stars because it is SO RARE to get such great customer service like this!!! Kudos to this company!! I am so impressed. So, give the product a try. Maybe it won't travel as much on your floor. My cats did really love it, especially the one cat. I loved that it was rechargeable. I just wish that it didn't travel across my floors. Original review - First, my cats do enjoy this and one of them loves it. However, my biggest complaint is that it "travels" - the movement of it waving around causes the device to travel across the floor. I have tried it on hardwood floor and on a rug. Maybe on a thick carpet it wouldn't travel, but I don't want to put it in a room with a thick carpet. I have a feeling it would still travel in a room with a thick carpet. The force of the wand wiggling around simply moves the base. I think the base needs to be wider. There is a bit of rubber on the bottom of the base, but that does absolutely nothing to keep it in place. It is worthless from what I have seen. I wish they could go back to the drawing board in terms of finding a way to make it stay in place because eventually the traveling causes it to hit a wall or furniture. Things I like - that my one cat loves it, that it is rechargeable, that it works for a while and then pauses (so as not to overstimulate) and then comes back on after some time, good value. Cons - it travels!! That is a big design flaw in my mind, but I just periodically have to go over and pick it up. Depending on how much space you have, it can travel in the first stage of activity before the first time it goes to sleep (so in the first round of play - so, that it a pretty short time before you have to manage it in my mind. That is kind of annoying in my book). Con 2 - potential concern: my one cat has caught the wand a few times and has had the wire in her mouth. I worry about her teeth in those situations. She hasn't done it too many times, but you may want to supervise your cat(s) a few times initially. If your cat catches it frequently and has the wire in their mouth, it may not be a good toy as I fear the wire could hurt their teeth and/or gums. I would talk to your vet about it. That said, it is inexpensive enough and she let go of it pretty quickly and who knows if your cat would do it - so, for the entertainment and enrichment value and the low cost vs the risk, I think it is worth giving it a try. All wand toys like this are going to present that risk.

There's only 1 wand, but my cats like it.
Edited review... My cats LOVE this toy, even after several months of playing with it multiple times a day!! My cats are still playing with this, and vying for their spot beside it, so much so, I'm buying a second one, so my timid cat gets a chance. She rarely plays with toys like this, they usually scare her, but she loves this one!! It's been months now, and they STILL play with it every day....that's only happened once before, usually they get bored with a toy. In fact, they usually tire of toys in minutes, or hours, sometimes in the first 1-2 days, so them still playing with it after a few days is rather amazing. This toy will end up all over your house, as others have pointed out. Cats that like to keep their prey and hide away with it, or bring it to you (I've got one of each) will be dragging this toy all over the place. It's rather comical actually. I was worried that the metal wand and its toys, clattering against my antiques was going to cause damage. It hasn't, it's really lightweight, and flexible; the rattling, and banging is quite gentle. So far I see no sign of damage. Whew. That's especially good because I can't control where this goes, it goes everywhere, touches everything. It's not very loud, nowhere near as loud as so many other automated toys are. I only hear some pinging or rattling now and then, and I'm right nextdoor to them, or in an adjoining room. Occasionally, I'll hear a louder bang, when the cats have ahold of it, and make it bang the base into walls or furniture. It's still not that loud or disruptive. I don't mind it. So far so good. 🤞 I'm thrilled. My only complaint now, is that the wire wand can break off, where it meets the base. My cats are aggressive, and when it gets knocked over they pounce on it, and drag it, even up to my bed. The wire bends where attaches to the base. Then I have to bend it back, that's no trouble, but over time it finally gets weakened right there and it breaks. I think it would be slightly better if it had a slightly flexible longer piece (like a cone) protecting the joint where the wire meets the hard plastic so a bend isn't as extreme in that same spot, and I've pondered trying to make one (if I ever get spare time, HA!) I didn't take star off for this, because I've seen how aggressive my cats are. I don't think any toy would survive months of this. Luckily, the seller sells replacements for the wand and connector! Yay for that! A bit from my previous review: When I originally received this I was disappointed that there wasn't a setting to reactivate by touch, or more variability in how long the pause or the playtime is. I wished there were multiple speeds, and I thought there was more than one wand (pictures look like there is). Well, my cats don't care about any of that. This is the most loved, best cat toy I've ever purchased (well...except the wand toys where I need be there and make them move). I was really surprised and thrilled. I got over all my own expectations because they love it so much, it's awesome like it is!

***EDITED REVIEW***** Cats still love it, but no longer keeps a charge after 4 months of use!!
****EDIT*** Took 1 star away because it is taking more than the 2 hours to charge and doesn't really hold a charge for very long anymore after 4 months of use. VERY disappointing. That's too bad because my cats LOVE this toy and I was going to get another one for another room in the house and another for a friend of ours. This is a fun toy that starts up when I'm at work so my cats can play. I thought it was motion activated that if they started playing with it that it would just turn on - but that hasn't been the case. But every two hours it goes on for about 10 minutes and they love playing with it. LOVE that it is rechargeable instead of using disposable batteries. Love that if I turn it on I know it will go on a few times while I am at work & stimulate them. Love that they enjoy it & have fun with it, which hasn't been the case with other automatic toys I've gotten for them in the past. If they knock it down on it's side, it pops back up. Like that we can change the tops & the stuff they can chase. Don't like - That the top comes off so easily - I have come into the room & seen that cats have been able to take the wire part off of the base. Would like to be able to change the frequency on how often it goes on or allow it to be motion activated. So MANY more positives than negatives and I would certainly purchase it again!!

Buy the toy, but throw out the ribbons!
This toy comes with a few extra items you can attach to the wire, including a couple of pieces of narrow ribbon. Get rid of the ribbon immediately! If cats eat ribbon, string, thread, or yarn (which they do, for whatever reason), it can get tangled in their intestines and strangle parts of the intestine, depriving it of blood supply. This is a life-threatening situation and can require surgery to save the life of the cat. Keep all string-like items away from your cat! My cat loves this toy! It’s still in good shape after a month of hard play. I love the fact that it turns itself off and then back on again a while. That matches the cat’s natural pattern of fierce play for a while, then a period of down time. The automatic off and on feature means that I don’t have to chase down a buzzing toy that the cat has walked away from. It holds a charge for a good long time. The USB charging is definitely better than having to constantly feed it batteries. Drawbacks: it is kind of noisy. When it’s on, even if it’s not moving and the cat is ignoring it, it makes a mechanical noise that gets on my nerves after a while — which is when I hook it up to the charger or turn it off. Also, it gets stuck under things frequently. The base doesn’t get stuck. It’s good at maneuvering out of places. It’s the wire on top that gets stuck under things like the coffee table or the flaps of an open box. It’s easy to release once you know it’s gotten stuck, but it may have wandered somewhere out of sight, so you don’t always know when it’s stuck. On the whole, this was a good purchase. It has pretty much kept my perpetual motion cat occupied for a month, and isn’t noticeably the worse for wear. I haven’t had to drag out any other toys. This is the only toy she’s played with since it came out of the box. Full: disclosure: I have three cats, and two of them rarely play with this toy, but I expected that. One is middle-aged and fairly sedate, while the other one, the sister of perpetual motion cat, is a 24/7 lap cat who rarely plays with anything. Like T.S. Eliot’s Gumbie cat, she sits and sits and sits and sits, and is not tempted by toys of any sort. EDITED TO ADD: This toy lasted two months to the day before the wire broke right where it was attached to the plastic thing at the top of the toy. My cat likes it enough that I ordered replacement wires. Let’s hope they last at least as long.

Best toy ever!
This toy is genius! Our cat can't get enough of it. The idle period is timed just right for a cat to forget about it and then be pleasantly surprised when it starts working again. The cat has been playing with it for months now, and it is still working perfectly (well, we had to replace the fuzzy/tinkely/feathery stuff at the end, but that's the cat's fault). He'll sometimes drag it in with his mouth if I'm in another room, and it keeps him active even when I'm out.

1 of the BEST kitten toys!!!
Oh, how my new kitten Gizmo LOVES this toys!!! Out of all the toys she's gotten so far, this is her favorite! She'll even drag it from room to room - which is hilarious to see this tiny lil thing doing. It'll always up right itself. The charge lasts for days, at least 5 depending on how often I restart it. It also charges rather quickly about 2 hrs The toy itself is 5 stars for battery lasting, fun & durability. I took off 1 star (1/2 star if it was an option) because it would be MUCH better if they made it touch activated - 10 min every few hrs is not enough playtime for Gizmo. So I'll reactivate it & she'll play with it for 20 - 30 min at a time and/or every 1 - 2 hrs. When it's in standby mode & she starts playing, I'll get up & activate it for her - all you gotta do is press the on button quickly to reactivate it. If and when you ever upgrade this device, PLEASE include a touch activate mode for the more playful kitty - pretty please! UPDATE 7 months later: by far Gizmo's FAVORITE toy still! I got a 2nd one to stagger it going off & so it's never not going off vuz it's charging. Soild build, VERY good quality (thank frog) as it get slammed & banged against walls, doors, furniture & the tub when she drags throughout the apartment from room to room. She likes to "hunt" it & will try to make it challenging for herself (smart kitty), so I have 2 setup by a box with packing paper she LOVES to dit/lay in and hunt this teaser toy. Being able to easily buy replacement heads is great. They last about 4 - 5 months before coming too loose to stay on - they probably last longer if Gizmo wasn't so rough with it. I use the old heads by hanging them from drawers, she'll hunt them or lay underneath & play with them. She has teaser balls & another teaser hanging from a doorway, but this is her favorite & she goes running off to it as soon as she hears the bell on it go off when it wakes up. If your kitty loves teaser toys, this is a MUDT BUY!

Some interest by younger cat but could be better
La correa es un poco corta y el juguete suspendido se tambalea verticalmente. Los gatos estaban más interesados/distraídos por la base tambaleante. Asegúrate de apagarlo antes de ir a dormir, despierta a los muertos.
