LAURA GELLER Baked Double Take Powder Foundation, Matte Finish - Light

This LAURA GELLER NEW YORK Baked Double Take Powder Foundation is my favorite powder foundation right now. It is light and easy to apply, but also provides pretty good coverage. It evens out my skin tone well without looking like I'm wearing too much makeup. It is just a natural finish that dulls shine and provides a good base for my powder blush and highlighter. It doesn't settle into lines or look cakey, and it wears well through the day. I love it!

I usually can’t use any powder formulation (setting powder or foundations) on my face due to texture (sun damage) and late 40s skin. I have extremely reactive skin and nowadays can only use a few different liquid foundations that don’t irritate it, but they are all matte finish which I don’t like anymore because they settle into texture and make it look worse. So I figured I’d try this just to see since it was on sale. I am very pleasantly surprised. It lasted all day, and it did not settle into my texture anywhere near as much as the liquid foundations do. It also provided nice coverage and evened out my skin tone (I have a lot of redness and brown spots). My skin is also very dry, which is another reason I can’t use powders usually. But this one just goes on nicely. I like that it feels much lighter on the face than a liquid foundation too. I did use a kabuki brush because it made it go on smoother than the sponge that comes with it.

I’m absolutely loving this powder foundation. I’ve never tried a powder foundation because I assumed there was no way it would work as well as liquid. Boy was I wrong. I put it on at 10am this morning. It’s now after 11pm and my makeup still looks fresh and as if I just put it on. It hasn’t worn off at all! Further, I have very oily skin and often apply powder several times a day. But I haven’t needed to apply powder even once today. Even my nose has remained oil free. I put it on dry at first, then put the other half on wet - but I didn’t really notice a difference either way, so I’ll probably apply it dry from now on. The coverage is awesome and gives an even, matte finish on my skin while lightly covering some sun spots I have on my face. And the color is a perfect match to my light, but slightly tanned skin. Today is the first time I’ve used it, but so far I am blown away and wish I’d tried it years ago. The price is a tad high if you’re on a budget, but it’s well worth it now that I’ve used it. I’ll be curious to see how long it lasts though. Regardless, I highly recommend and am super happy with this purchase.

I’ve been using the Laura Geller New York Baked Double Take Powder Foundation and overall I’d give it 4 stars. This is a quality powder foundation that delivers on its promise of buildable coverage — you can keep it light and natural or build it up to medium or full coverage depending on your needs. I like that it’s long-wearing with good shine control, and the matte finish holds up well throughout the day. It’s even sweat-resistant, which is a nice bonus. The compact is a generous size, making it great for travel. It comes with a dual-sided sponge — use the pink side dry for everyday medium coverage, and dampen the white side for maximum full coverage with a more flawless, perfected finish. I personally went in wanting a light coverage look and it delivered, though I did find it runs slightly light so I’ll try the next shade up. One con worth noting: it does not contain SPF, so you’ll want to apply a separate sunscreen underneath — especially important for mature skin. How to Apply: 1. Start with moisturized, primed skin 2. For light/medium coverage — use the pink sponge side dry, press and blend in circular motions 3. For full coverage — dampen the white sponge side, press firmly into skin and blend 4. Build in thin layers to avoid cakiness A solid find for mature skin that wants coverage without a heavy feel!

Very good coverage. Kind of messy but just use over the sink. Lasts for a long time.

Laura Geller advertises this powder can achieve full coverage used as a foundation.. it's this hardish dome of... I guess it's powder, but when I take my brush to it, no powder comes off. It's like a ball of something, when I took my brush to it I scrape the surface of the dome to get some powder on the brush. Sadly I must report, It didn't cover enough to take the pink from my cheeks, (and it's not like they're super pink they're a little pinky) And it seems to be a solid piece of something.. I don't know what. But when you take your makeup brush and you're getting some powder on your brush and the powder sort of flies into the air you can see that it's powder this does not do that. You have to scrape it with something sharp to scratch on it, rough it up to be able to get some pieces to blot your brush on. I really wanted it to work I wanted it to be a good powder. It seemed almost not a powder. It didn't want to powder. I'm still looking for some magical face powder with opaque coverage. The swirl pattern on it is just a gimmick. I found the blush to be way too bright as Pinky Orange. I'm sad and disappointed. Ms. Geller made it sound like all that.. trumped up marketing, this swirl pattern is a simple gimmick.

This looks wonderful, but has anyone else noticed an odd smell from the make up?

I love the powder coverage but the compact always breaks. I have been using now for a few months and every month the compact breaks. Frustrating.

I stopped wearing make up in 2013. So I’ve tried others in the last year but this stuff really works nice. I’m 68. Well I will be soon and it really does a nice job at covering my face and making it look smooth, although it does not get rid of my wrinkles. I was looking for a miracle cure, but I guess there isn’t one lol. It’s nice make up and wear light. I have to admit my daughter put me onto this.

Works really well. Just as the promo says it does.

The coverage is very good but the look is a little too matte, even after applying over a moisturizing base. I still use it nonetheless.

This is marketed as good for mature skin so I bought it. This does not give a natural blurring look at all. Doesn’t even stay on parts of my face.
