Is this clip strong enough to fit on a hard hat rim?

I would say it really depends on the amount of curve at the brim. The light clip is snug on a regular ball cap. I found EXCELLENT results in using the provided strap for All fitting even with a regular cap. Aim and adjustments are also much more effective by doing so.... Hope this helps
