Q: Can I thin the paint slightly to make it easier to apply,also do I need to wash door with sugarsoap. Thanks

Hi Sheila, It says on the tin application, do not thin. I cleaned the door with "Astonish engine degreaser which is water based and I got from Wicks DIY store (Cheap). I then used Hammerite special metals primer, which comes in red only I believe. I then finished with White, direct to Galvanised. Hope this helps.

Q: Would this be suitable for painting a galvanised steel set of goalposts?

I don't see why not. I painted new galvanised roof sheets with it and got good coverage with 2 coats. It's thick and runs so I'd suggest several thin coats for suggesting like goalposts. The finish is good once it's on.

Q: Anyone used this on old Crittall windows?

If the original frames were galvanised it should be OK. If painted on bare metal you should probably use one of their other products. We used it on a galvanised field gate that had been painted with the wrong paint which was flaking off. We had to have the gate lightly shot blasted and then we hand painted it. Not easy to apply but still good a year later. Crittall windows; you lucky people!
