Dear Yancy, Overall Diameter (including enamel insulation) is around 0.0201 inches Insulation type is Polyesterimide+Polyamideimide, Heavy Build (Grade 2)

What is its hardness? Is it dead soft?

Not sure why you would need to know the "hardness" but it has great tensile strength - I was winding coils with a 5kg (11lb) preload without any problems. Do note that the overall diameter is greater than 18AWG because of the dual layer coating, however this is extremely durable and highly resistant to abrasion and heat cracking. Seriously good quality wire.
