I was skeptical at first about ordering this helmet. Didn't want some cheap knock-off and the excellent price made me concerned, but this is the real deal Daytona helmet. I wanted a helmet to wear when riding a small electric moped around town and California Motor Vehicle Code requires it to be DOT approved for a registered/plated moped. I rode motorcycles for more than 60 years and several hundred thousand miles but had to stop due to numerous medical issues. This little moped gets me back on two wheels again and the Daytona Skull Cap is just about right for the situation. My head measures 23 3/16"; at the low end of the 2XL size chart but the web page graphic recommends sizing down so I purchased an XL size. Right answer. The XL helmet is very comfortable; snug but not tight, fits securely without wobbling over bumps and is just the right amount of "oval" for my northern European head. Some comments state that the helmet comes without size labels, but this one arrived in an XL labelled Daytona box and has the XL tag clearly visible inside the helmet. (note that it is made in India...kind of surprised me) The gloss black with visor matches the look of the moped and it fits easily in the small locking top box when the scoot is parked. It's a simple hard shell without ventilation but I'm not doing "time zone to time zone" rides anymore so it's fine for me. The clasp works fine, the straps have enough adjustment and are wide enough to be comfortable. I've only been using the helmet for a couple weeks, so this is an "initial impressions" review and I can't speak to durability yet. Don't want to ever have to describe sturdiness in an accident. So, right now it's feeling like a pretty good helmet.

Took a risk buying the “used, like new” option for way cheaper $$ and the decision literally paid itself off. I got this Dayton helmet for way less and after receiving it and trying it on it went from my second option helmet to my everyday helmet. I would paid full price with zero regrets. Got the helmet in 4XL. I got a huge head and it fits great! I tried on Harley Helmets and this helmet not only fits better but was a fraction of the price. I didn't see pictures of the inside and still took the risk, yet another risky decision, but the helmet didn’t disappoint, it is well padded, light weight comfortable and very durable. I can honestly say I feel safe in it. The most impressive feature of this helmet in my opinion would be the chinstrap. Instead of a button up it’s a quick release clip chin strap pull buckle! Definitely more functional ! The mat black is definitely the way to go if your looking for something to decal and make your own. It’s a great color, true mat black. And no I don’t work for the company, I’m just a really satisfied customer that wants his brothers and sisters riding to get a good deal and great helmet! You won’t regret it!

Giving it a 4 star for quality and comfortability. The look and feel is also very nice but on me, I personally look like a mushroom head. I wish it would have looked better because I would have kept it.

Nice light good looking dot approved helmet love the grey color matched my Atv size was right on just snug enough that it doesn’t wiggle around love the mini visor would recommend

Replacing my Akoury ak-88 skull cap with the Daytona Skull cap. Years ago, It was between Akoury and Daytona. Daytona was the bigger company but Akoury was so much more comfortable, lighter and no mushroom head at all. Well the bigger company is still here and Akoury is out of business. I purchased the Daytona skull cap in dull black and gloss black. Both in the same size. The gloss black was amazingly comfortable, sat low in the head and seemed very well built. A little larger than the Akoury but I could deal with it. The dull black model came and was extremely tight, mind you, same size and model as the gloss black. The dull black model was so tight, it gave me a horrible headache after wearing at home for 30 minutes trying to break in. I've since ordered 2 additional dull black models and each one fit slightly different. All seem to be manufactured in India. I don't care much where it was made but the consistency between all 4 helmets was substantial. Good thing for Amazon's free returns. I kept the original gloss black and one of the three dull black models. I picked the dull black model that fit the best of the three just because i wanted a dull black one. The gloss black is my current go to. I guess, if you think it doesn't feel right or too tight, try ordering another one. The value of these helmets is pretty amazing. I'm rating these 3 stars mostly because of inconsistency. If rating the gloss black helmet itself, that one is 5 star all around

so yeah it makes my head look like a mushroom, but I like don't care, it feels sturdy and looks great overall. Now I've never owned a "real" motorcycle helmet so under the padding in the helmet its just a thick layer of Styrofoam. I'm guessing that's the sturdiness factor I'm feeling but I honestly have no clue if that's the norm. I ride a bicycle but this thing looked dope so I went for it and it definitely has some weight to it compared to a regular bicycle helmet. I measured my head before choosing a size I was between an XL and the XXL but read some other reviews stating there was some sizing issues if you have a moderately large melon, as do I. XXL was definitely the wiser choice for myself (23.8 in roughly). I mean I have big ears so I have to tuck them under a little but its not uncomfortable, but hey that's just me. It came nicely packaged in a nice little helmet bag, with a little helmet du-rag I'm guessing for helmet hair(?), a little keychain and some sort of welcome to the world of your helmet pamphlet. I like it. gonna start decking it out with sticker to truly make it mine.

It looks ok, I would say a bit mushroom shape but unless I compromise even more on safety I don't think I can find much slimmer in my region. My head size is 59 and i got an XL as per the chart, it is quite tight I am assuming it will start loosening over time. I would say the consider the next size up for a 60 or 61, how ever this could be to do with head shape also. I like the release catch and the quality.

Love wearing the helmet a nice snug fit for small size.
