How does the bow hold work with fitting in a case? Does the student need a separate carrier for their bow with the device on the bow?

The frog does not fit in most cases and so I often use the fish alone. However when I want to use the frog I have to problem solve for each student's violin case and routine. Even with these hassles it's a great tool.

after using this for a while, can kids do a proper bow hold without it?

Yes, I usually remove the 'frog' front part after a few months and leave the 'fish' pinky holder up to a year. The frog part helps shape a rounded thumb but you still have to double check frequently that the kids are not cheating underneath. The pinky holder helps a lot with balancing the bow. For absolute beginners it makes introducing the bow much easier and it shapes the hand well for a proper bow hold - but you still have to check it frequently - it does not do the trick automatically!

Is this a true pink or more coral?

It's not pink or coral at all. It's closest to purple

Will this work for a left handed player?

My son's violin teacher is left handed and he still uses his right hand to play the violin. He had to learn it that way. So I guess you can use it. Unlike guitar, violin needs to be played with right hand especially if you plan to continue and play with orchestra.

Great to stop bad habits

Easy to fit and helps novices bow correctly. A very inexpensive way to stop bad habits forming. Customer service from them is excellent and they responded quickly and positively to queries (I had an issue with delivery) - all dealt with without fuss or issue. Brilliant.

My daughter had trouble remembering to hold the bow right, so I bought this gadget. It worked well to help her, but very short term. We also bought a new bow because her old one cracked at the screw from trying to tighten the hair too much (hair was too long and just couldn't make the bow right). The way the plastic piece of a bow frog is attached matters. The opening for the thumb wasn't right and was giving my daughter a blister on her thumb. The old bow was smoother in the spot where this gadget frog goes and worked better. So we ended up fixing the old bow just so my daughter can use this set. Another drawback is that once the frog and fish is on, the bow didn't fit in our violin case anymore! So in a way, it turned out well that our bow cracked, we had to buy another one. So we ended up practicing with the frog/fish bow at home, and taking the new one without to lessons.
