So far I am very happy with the TV. I bought it mainly for gaming. 2016 is when I got serious into premium TV just to have a good picture quality for games. my first TV back then was the samsung KS8000. I was really surprised with the picture quality but down the road I noticed a flaw: game mode downgrade the picture quality. the input lag out of game mode in the ks8000 isnt good so eventually I put my eyes on the lg oled c8. excellent picture quality in game mode. barely any input lag but then another thing started to bother me. the high peak brightness wasnt high enough. the ks8000 has awesome peak brightness so I was used to it. I loved the perfect black and contrast on the oled c8 but I felt it needed that peak brightness to make it perfect. Eventually my household were living on one income so Istopped looking at TV until last year. Then I discovered the Samsung s95b and discovered that it has all the benefits pack in one, high peak brightness, excellent contrast and perfect blacks but I couldnt afford it until recently I discovered the TCL QM8. Started reading reviews and heard about the high peak brightness and that the blacks levels were very close to Oled and excellent contrast for just $1000. I couldnt believe it and was very skeptical. kept reading reviews, noticed that amazon has a monthly payment plan with no interest and decide it to give it a go and... it is the gamers dream comes true for just $1000 instead of paying $1,700 for the samsung s90C. As soon as I installed it, started playing Alan Wake 2 which is a dark game and was really surprised at the black levels. I swear the black levels looks like my lg oled c8 but now with high peak brightness (higher than ks8000) and the best of all, very low input lag!. granted I havent seen the samsung s90c in person but I can say my TCL qm8 has shown almost a match or improvement in every category I care about. Higher peak brightness than the ks8000 and the lg oled c8, and the black levels and contrast are very close to my oled for just $1000. After gaming for years on my oled c8, I started craving for that peak brightness so went back to my ks8000 and was playing through that horrible input lag. not anymore! Excellent value for the price.

I previously had a TCL Roku 75 inch TV and was very happy with it. I was interested in going bigger and did a lot of research on the new TCL QM8 85 inch and when Amazon’s price went down, decided to go for it. Sometimes bigger is better- this TV is awesome! The picture detail, brightness and black levels are as good as TVs that cost thousands more. I spent $4.99 for a video on You Tube that very specific advice on detailed settings for the QM8 and within 10 minutes the picture looked outstanding- using the Dolby Vision Bright or Dark or the Movie setting (the Dolby Vision IQ uses some motion smoothing that I don’t like). The point is that if you spend some time on the settings to get the TV to look the way you like you’ll be very happy. Although out of the box the picture is impressive. One of of the big surprises for me was how my Atmos set up sounds so much better since my TV is connected to my receiver. I also love the Google smart TV voice control. No more clicking the remote and speaking into the remote- you’re able to speak to the TV and give commands about playing a specific movie or finding a streaming service (you can even ask, “what’s the weather in NYC?”). And the hundreds of free Google TV channels was a a very nice plus. So the TV is beyond my expectations for amazing picture, great interface and the extras I mentioned. And I recommend to pay the $30 service fee to have Amazon bring the TV to the space you want and set it up. They did a great job and within 20 minutes I was able to fire up the TCL and enjoy.

I went to my local Best Buy to look at all the current models since I hadn't seen the newest technology for a while. I honestly thought I was going to find that the Sony or Samsung was the best, but I went around the store several times looking at all of them to find what looked the best to my own eyes. I honestly never even considered that TCL would be in the running, but I saw they had an 85 inch Q7 and the blacks were deep and the contrast and color was great. The TCL (Q7, a model below this one) was hanging beside a $2700 Sony mini LED and the TCL TV looked best to me. I came home and read reviews and found that this model had even better specs (brighter 2000 nits and more dimming zones) than the model I saw in store so I trusted what my eyes saw and ordered this. It arrived yesterday through Prime delivery, which was great. They were very careful moving the TV in and were within the scheduled delivery timeframe. We mounted it on the wall and it looks amazing. You should note that the VESA mount is 600x600 which is an odd size so make sure you buy a mount that will work. I bought the ProMounts Tilting TV Mount for Most 60-110 Inch TV on Amazon and it worked great. I really don't understand the negative reviews that say this TV lacks detail. There are so many settings to adjust the picture to your liking. It is so sharp. The depth of the blacks with the local dimming zones looks like OLED blacks to my eyes. This TV rivals other TVs that are twice its price. I really, really recommend you take a trip to a local electronics store and judge these TVs against each other yourself. I would have never thought a TCL is what I would end up purchasing, but I'm extremely happy with it. It is a big purchase, so I purchased the four year protection plan through Amazon for $183, which is a great price. Just for comparison, Best Buy's five year protection plan is $430 for this TV.

There were alot of misses here. So the Tv was ordered on June 25 and originally scheduled for delivery on 6/30. I received a call an hour before delivery and they informed me the tv arrived late to the warehouse and all delivery trucks already went out that morning and I had to reschedule delivery for 7/1. On 7/1 Amazon delivered and setup the 75” QM8 tv. Once they left I moved the tv gently against the wall on my tv stand and the tv’s backlight started to flicker on and off which each slight movement as if something was loose in the tv. When the back of the tv’ plastic cover (above rear subwoofer) was slightly tapped the backlight will go off and on. We ensured the tvs firmware was updated. The whole day of testing the tv regardless of what’s on the screen the tv would randomly flicker off for a half second and then back on with nothing but the power cable plugged into the tv. Later that same evening the flickering got worst until the backlight went completely out. We tried typical troubleshooting like power cycling and removing all hdmi cables and still nothing. As the backlight was out we could still see the faint text on the tv while it was powered on. (See my picture) Although the tv had phenomenal picture quality like inky OLED blacks and ultra bright whites which was expected from all the review sites I follow (Digital Trends, FOMO), I am disappointed as this is my first TCL tv. I hope this not an expected experience of TCL. Not sure the cause but the ball was dropped from manufacturing to delivery. That evening I called Amazon to request an exchange as I love the tv however they could only process it as a return and they couldn’t refund the money back to my credit card. They would only refund my purchase as an Amazon credit. On 7/5 The tv was picked up per Amazon and still awaiting my return status to update. I haven’t heard any reports from anyone regarding QM8 with a bad backlight and random flickering. I will give TCL one more shot as this TV was everything I was looking for coming from a 1080p Samsung that was a solid workhorse for over 12 years. Hope the second time is a charm.

Received this tv today. This is the first time I have gone all in on a TV, I usually buy a lower end or mid range, even if this is not a Samsung, Sony or LG I would consider this TV high end based on what you are getting. This tv picture looks amazing. Movies, tv, xbox, it all looks great. I moved from a 65 inch Sony to the 85 inch TCL QM8 and I could not be happier. I put it together and moved it to the tv stand by myself but let me tell you this sucker is heavy, recommend having atleast one other person to help you. I didnt notice there were two different sizes of hardware for the base which set me back as i put the long screws where the short screws went, not a biggie if you pay attention to what you are doing but i did not. You have to turn on "Game Master" from system settings in order to be able to set a input's picture to game mode. The setup was fairly quick, you tell it what apps you have and it does the rest, some had my account info and some didnt (uses google) but its pretty easy. I read some people say the user interface was laggy but that has not been my experience. I had a HD Roku connected to my Sony but I dont plan on connecting that since I like the remote and the tv user interface. I live on a military base and was a little concerned about the delivery but it was actually pretty nice, delivered by XPO. Same day and time slot they said they would deliver it. So far I am very happy with this tv, the extra 20 inches over the tv it replaced makes a big difference for me and I am loving it. I havent had to play with the picture much other than taking it out of low power mode and adjusting the picture to cool which is my preference. I think the default brightness is set at 10 which is bright but it goes to 100 which can make your eyes bleed but can also be enjoyable. If you enjoy streaming and gaming you cant go wrong with this tv. The sound is also pretty good for a big tv, has a built in sub which is nice. Does not beat a sound bar but is good enough if you dont want to do a sound bar. I will update if anything else comes up. (Loving the google user interface, cant see going back to Roku).

Very good picture quality and high brightness than some branded TVs. Yes its TCL, but picture looked really good compared to even some of the branded TVs(in a TV showroom with a very good customer rep who played both general content and once in a while watched HQ TV demos). Artificial image flavors can be observed some times. Long remote suited to my hand well. OS is slowwwwww and avg response is 3-5 seconds, worst can go up to 8 seconds. Up to 5 seconds avg response time in 2024, thank you. Speaker is good. Never got a singe 4K 120 Hz 10 feet cable maintain signal, tried 4 brands under 20 bucks not premium ones. But a 3ft zeskit worked flawless on 4K 120 Hz if it helps some one. Not sure if there is some issue with TV as well apart from cables, as 10 ft cables worked for many on 4K 120 Hz per reviews. Bought te 65 inch just under 900 but with C3 65s started hitting 1100 during clearances, 900 for this doesn't appeal any more. It is what it is!! Wishing it doesn't fail any time soon, an earlier 500 bucks TCL is still working after 6 years hope QM8 makes it too. Almost forgot, primary usage is Gaming and while it isnt C3, G3 still a great gaming TV mostly made that impression out of its brightness than picture quality. Overall a great TV but not outstanding. For 600-650, I would not think twice to grab a 2nd one.

The Sony in my living room broke and The Lady can't go long without her reality TV. So I replaced it with the 75" QM8. I read and saw the great reviews of this TV but I wasn't ready for just how good this TV is. Now, you have to take some time to get the brightness, color saturation and black level where you want (stick to movie for SDR and HDR and Dolby Vision bright for Dolby Vision). But once you do, this is what I notice: The black levels are OLED quality. I have the LG-C1 83" OLED in my theater room, and the QM8 is easily a match picture wise. But since the QM8 gets so bright, the specular highlights in HDR dwarfs what an OLED can do. The one flaw it has is the judder in *some* fast moving content. The upscaling of really old content is that great either. But modern tv looks great and anything 1080p and up looks SPECTACULAR. Love the TV so much I ordered the 98" for my theater room to replace the LG. It's that good! EDIT: Got the 98" in and watched the Super Bowl on it. My friends were all amazed. Also loving playing my Xbox Series X on it!

I initially was not impressed with the tv because the settings crushed all the fine details of anything I watched but after some research online. I found some calibration settings that brought this tv to life. The colors are incredible and anything in 4k is so life like that it feels like your looking through a glass window to see what's outside your house. There are some reviews that state the tv does a poor job of upscaling anything that's not 4k but after my firmware update and calibration. I have no issues with picture quality or upscaling. The tv is quick with no discernable lag when switching between apps. I also hooked up my xbox series x to play games on it and have been impressed with how the tv handles gaming. There can be an issue with Dolby vision being to dark when using the Dolby vision dark or light settings but if you use the regular Dolby vision and slightly adjust the Gama settings then there is no issue with Dolby vision. Tcl is rolling out a new firmware that helps correct the Dolby vision light or dark settings issue. Overall I'm thorough impressed with this tv and would recommend this tv for anyone who is looking for a solid tv that cost way less than other tv brands but it has all the same bells and whistles as the more expensive brands.
