I've had to manually clean my Koi pond and/or filter every month or two to keep floating algae at bay in my southeastern outdoor pond. It's a lot of work. I was skeptical when I bought this filter that the self cleaning was meaningful in any way, but am glad it actually works as advertised. With just a quick switch and pumping some water in a different direction to clean the filter, this is FAR EASIER than anything else I've tried at keeping the pond clear. Thank you engineers for figuring out such a simple solution! Love the product.

Easy to install and built well. The filter is easy to clean with the filter pads rinsing off well. The UV sanitizer works perfectly and my pond is crystal clear. Previous filters did to seem to handle the job as well as I wanted and this filter has performed above expectations. Prior to installing the unit you could barely see my fish. Now you can see all the way to the bottom of the pond. My pond is about 10 feet by 4 feet across and 30-36" deep depending on where you measure. This size filter handles the needs very well. I noticed a difference in the first 24 hours but after 3 days of running I was very impressed. I have had this unit for 2 summers now and it is working perfectly. I clean the filter pads every two weeks and my pond is perfectly clear. Easy to use, easy to install and great performance. Highly recommend.

UPDATE. I had a fitting crack 5 months after I purchased it. Hot Florida sun. I made communication with the seller, sent them pictures and I had a brand new one in several days. No charge. No return. The way businesses should operate. Thank you What a great inexpensive filtration system. To all of the people that left negative reviews because of leaks. Really? Mine leaked when I first plugged it in and I thought oh my gosh what am I going to do now? So it came to me. Tighten it up. Guess what? And to my surprise it stopped leaking . Imagine that. I was using something similar that was home made. This is a really nice set up. I have a 400 gallon Koi pond and am using a 1600 gph pump with a 3 ft waterfall and using a turtle that flows water out of his mouth and a center riser. I am using the one inch tubing. Received order uv lamp wouldn't turn on , received a replacement then after a few months replacement was leaking at top of clamps had to throw filter in the trash was a waste of money and lost all my fish due to the leak couldn't return since it was past return window

This is the second version/band of one of these types of filters. In neither one did the cleanout mechanism do anything worth while. If you want to clean it you need to take it apart and clean it. That aside it will definitely clear up a small pond. Keeps my pond water clear. It will not do anything for helping with algae build up on the sides or bottom of the pond but the water itself will be clear.

Super easy to install and to clean it has a like pump that squares the sponges inside wiout having to take it apart and it cleans with ease and the dirty water goes on a different outlet super easy to clean and world great. I bought this filter as a secondary fokter for my 1200 gallo. Pond so far works great.

When my old pond filter bit the dust, this new design became the replacement. What an improvement! In a day and a half it went from murky green to crystal clear! Ran for about a month and even though the indicator hadn't popped, gave it a few twirls, green bilge came out, looking good!! I don't understand the comments about leaks. This unit doesn't leak at all. If it's not put together properly (user error) of course it could leak, but the design installed as intended won't leak. I like all the fitting options too. I'm using 1" corrugated in out lines (that can really move water with a properly sized pump!) And got a 1.25" lie flat hose for the dirty water into the garden. Don't understand why it isn't IPx5 or 6 water resistant (it's for outdoor use, right? And I live in a rainforest!) And they say it can't be covered with anything (I'm using an inverted plastic crate), but other than that nonsense is a fantastic filter and huge improvement in my case - glad my old one died! Very, very well made, definitely to US design standards.

This filter requires the pump to make it work. If you do not have one, you will need to purchase one. I was not aware as when I asked questions it said it came with everything needed. We had to go back and purchase the pump and hoses. It did not come with clamps for the hoses but my husband was able to use items we already had at home. We do not have any leaks. So far it has been running about two weeks. Our tank was very green from the algae build up. It took about a week to clear our 300 gallon stock tank up once it was set up. Other reviews mentioned the UV light quit working. I will update my review if it does. The price was fair and we are pleased with it.

Easy to setup. Works perfectly! My fishpond was clear in a couple of days. I have cleaned the filter once and it was much better than to clean any of the traditional submersible filters. The best investment of the year! The only thing, there is no information in the manual what type of the UV bulb I have to use for the replacement. It looks like bulb should be replaced once per year.

Two seasons in, no issues and no complaints.

Honestly I am surprised... there is some algae at the bottom of the pond but still the water is crystalline. A bit of work needs to be done when it comes to maintenance but it seems to work great.

Very disappointed in the quality of this product at first, my UV light went out within two months and after cleaning the filter three times and cleaning all the seals and everything. I already need new seals garbage filter do not recommend.
