Freida McFadden really knows how to pull the rug out from under you. The way she wrote Josh is honestly brilliant. You spend the whole book looking at this kid through one lens, trying to figure out how much his trauma or his genetics are messing with him. Then that ending hits, everything clicks, and it completely flips the whole story on its head. It's so creepy and well-done. And Margie was such a great addition. In a book where you can't trust anyone, the grandmother just felt so grounded. Her character added actual weight to the family drama instead of just being background noise.
