It really works
I had a heavy candle oil stain and wax oil splash marks on my Indian stone garden paving stone. I had tried all sorts of applications to remove it, but they all failed. This was my last resort. I stirred the paste in the tin, and I used a small wooden spatula to apply the paste. I left it for 5 hours, and then scraped the dried paste off with a small metal wallpaper scraper. I was very pleased to note that the stain had gone! I washed the stones down, and they are now back to how they looked when I first laid them; no stains remain. Fabulous job and highly recommend this product. It worked for me.

Very effective and got the job done.
We had a BBQ on our new sandstone patio and, inevitably, got fat drippings on the stone which immediately sunk in and stained. This product comes in a tin and has the consistency of a loose jelly. After mixing I followed the instructions and applied a ~0.5cm layer on all of the fat stains. I came back four hours later and they had all dried and could be brushed off. Some of the residue remained so I used a damp cloth to rub them off. However, once the patio dried, I could still see the white residue on the patio so I used the pressure washer on them. This removed the white residue completely from most of the spots and vastly reduced the noticeability of the rest. This product completely removed most of the fat stains from the sandstone. Some stains remained but were very much faded. I think another application would have removed them altogether but they were so faded they were almost un-noticeable.Very pleased with the performance with the only exception being the minor white residue remaining on some parts of the stone. Perhaps a stronger pressure washer would have removed it completely (mine is 100 bar).Would recommend!

Something's changed
I originally posted a very positive review. I ordered twice before and was impressed with this product. I needed a third container and sadly it's not the same. It should dry and absorb oil/whatever's on your stone and then turn into a dry flake that's very easy to remove. The last two containers did that; however, this third order has dried and not flaked and actually left a residue that I'm struggling to remove. I don't feel it's my responsibility to send a defective product back but Amazon doesn't offer any other options if I want my money back or a replacement. I wouldn't recommend this product like before because it's not absorbing what it's meant to and it's a nightmare to remove.

Really worked!
I have a shared yard out the back with york flag stones from 1820. My neighbour decided to pour chip fat onto them to avoid blocking the drains, which looked awful! I ordered this after reading the reviews. It arrived quickly but I was suprised how small the tin was and knew I would not have enough. I tried it anyway on the stone on 'my side'. It dried to a white powder. Very smelly in the process like paint thinners but as I was working outside this did not bother me. After a few hours I brushed it off with a scrubbing brush. It left some white residue but I washed this off with a hose really easily. Once dried I could see it worked - it had removed the oil stains from the stone. Neighbouring stone was still stained so a good comparision. I would have loved to have used this on the hole area, but would need quite a few tins so nature will just have to fade the rest. Turps, patio cleaner and metholated spirits failed to do what this product did achieve - so its brilliant. Best for a small area. Highly recommend.

Mixed results
It lessened the stains on my patio. Some disappeared altogether but the worst ones are still there, just a bit faded. Also, if there is any wind the stuff blows away as it dries. For the price I wasn't that impressed.

Wow - very impressed and got me out of the doghouse
Got me out of the dog house for maintaining my bike on our brand new stone patio! I made the mistake of washing, greasing and lubricated my bike, this involved cleaning the chain and regreasing with the excess dripping onto the stone patio - when the water dried there were large patches of grease / bike lubrication left on several of the stone slabs - needless to say the Mrs wasn't best pleased. I tried everything to remove the grease stains with washing up liquid, soap, water and scrubbers but nothing helped. Ordered a tin of this stuff and was initially very sceptical. As the grease stains were so large I used slightly less of the paste and probably didn't put it on as thick as instructed. It was a very warm sunny day so the paste started to dry after just 5 minutes, it's obvious when it's fully dried as it turned to a white colour. Left it on overnight and came back the next day - my initial thoughts were that it probably hadn't done anything, however I started to remove the dried paste with a wooden spatula and the majority easily cracked off ok - it advises to remove anything left with a wet cloth but it was just as easy to remove with a hose - the very last remnants of it I removed with a scrubbing brush - and then I just waited for the stone to dry. Once dried to my amazement the oil marks had completely disappeared! Other reviewers say that it can make the area lighter which I think it may have slightly however not an issue in the slightest for me and doesn't really show with the type of stone patio I have. Unfortunately I didn't take any good before / after photos but have tried to attach before/during and after screensots from my ring cam - not the best but it does show the grease stains have completely disappeared. Have attached one close up after photo of one of the stones which shows a slight half-circle of grease - the main grease stain was enormous to the left of the half circle has completely disappeared - the half circle of grease was left as I ran out of the paste. Now I know it works I I have ordered another tin to finish the job. All in all I'm a very happy customer and would highly recommend to anyone else who may also be in the dog house currently!!

Removed the oily/fatty mark on my Indian Sandstone Patio!
I rarely write reviews but as this product solved my problem, I felt that I wanted to share my experience. A couple of months ago we got a new Indian Sandstone patio and we had people over for the first barbecue. Something oily/fatty got spilt by the side of the table which left a fairly large oily mark (around 10cm x 7cm) which initially looked like someone had split water but obviously never dried. I tried washing it multiple times with washing up liquid etc. I also left it for a few weeks hoping that a bit of rain might help. This made it look slightly better but it was still very much there and very noticeable. Having seen a review from another customer who posted pictures (thank you 😊) I bought HG Natural Stone Oil & Grease Stain Absorber. I followed the instructions on the tin and left it for around 4/5 hours. It is a strange consistency but dries hard and it literally just lifts off when dry. I wiped the remaining residue off with a damp cloth. The stain has gone! If you know where it was and look REALLY hard you can make out a slight outline of where it used to be but you would never notice now at all.As other reviewers have noted the tin is quite small. I used about half the tin and so if you have a larger stain or multiple stains you will need to buy several cans. Stating the obvious, but it is probably worth seeing if it works for you before buying multiple items. It worked for me...Good luck!

It works, not perfect 1st time but removed soaked in oil.
Having a small oil leak from the car I ended up with oil on the driveway over a long period of time, so thoroughly soaked in to the un-sealed concrete. I first tried Gunk driveway oil cleaner. All that did was clean off around the oil leaving the oil untouched (See picture) so I Checked out the reviews for this item. Had to wait for a few days for some dry weather but give it a go. .The product is the consistency of gunge and it doesn’t look very appealing, but hey it’s to clean oil so who cares.Stirred it up and applied as per instructions. Petty simple to do. Left it for they time they suggested and it turned white as they say. It was quite a hard substance so you need more than just a brush (probably a wire brush) but I washed it off with water and a brush. The results are pretty good in my opinion. Not perfect but a whole lot better than using gunk which didn’t do anything to the stain. I think a wire brush may do a better job of removing the crust intact so may do better at keeping the stain out.I recon a second go will pull out more and I have a little left so may well give it a go at the next sunny weekend and follow up with a jet wash. Conclusion: it works, be prepared to Give it more than one attempt, but worth the cost.
