Light stays on after computer is turned off
The GREEN LIGHT is getting on my nerves!! Obviously, the tech behind the construction of this product is very simple. The light should not continue to draw power from the motherboard after power down.

Excellent quality for the price
Easy to install. Excellent quality. Small size. Mute switch with illumination in res and green. The only thing that would make it better is an off switch as the red/green light is perpetually on.

I have to hold this up to my mouth and the sound is still poor
I have to hold this up to my mouth for it to hear me, and the sound is still poor quality.

Works very well - especially up close
I haven't had a standalone microphone for a computer in years, but bought this so my son could try making gaming videos for YouTube. Since I'm the one writing the review, I spend a few minutes playing with it to gauge how well it works.First thing first - I like the box this mic comes in. If you're thinking about giving it as a gift, the box is perfectly suited for gifting. When I opened it, I was pleased to see there is nice foam padding inside the protect the microphone. You could probably drop the box from a second story window and not hurt the mic inside this box.The pictures don't show it, but the mic comes with a nice foam cover to reduce background noise, like wind from a fan or your own breath blowing on it. I like those sorts of things and so I immediately fitted the cover over the mic. It's not as good looking with a big foam ball covering it, but I tend to think functionality is more important than looks when it comes to microphones.I plugged in the mic and got ready to take a few test recordings. I'm sitting in a bedroom with the door open and down the hall my kids are watching Star Wars - and they always keep the volume turned up too loud. I can hear everything that's happening in the movie. My first recording was about 6 inches from my mouth and my voice was crystal clear. There was no background noise from me breathing on the mic or sounds from the movie my kids are watching. I was extremely impressed by this first recording.I proceeded to take two more recordings, about 12 and 18 inches from my mouth. These disappointed me a bit. There was still no background noise, but the further away the mic got, the less I could hear my voice on the recordings. It's still present and if you want to use this to take recordings (such as my son's planned gaming videos), you could increase the volume when you are editing the video, but you might lose some of the sound quality. It seems to me that this mic is really meant for very close up use. I don't think I'd recommend it if you want to sit it on your desk a foot or two from you.If you want a mic that has excellent sound quality, this is a great choice - but not if you don't want to have it very close to you.

no better than built in mic of Surface Pro 3 from 2014
Most external mics produce better sound quality than the integrated mic on my Surface Pro 3 (bought in 2014) but not this one. Although aesthetic, the actual sound quality is not adequate. Very hard to justify this purchase.
