Shelly has so many different relay models that it was hard to know where to start at first. In my new home, I wanted to use a mix of standard light bulbs and smart bulbs, but I wanted to be able to control all of them via Home Assistant. Using smart switches made that difficult, since it is rarely a good idea to put smart bulbs and smart switches together. Enter Shelly. This relay works perfectly with Home Assistant and is flexible enough to work with standard bulbs and smart bulbs, all of which are connected to standard, low-cost dumb light switches. I will be using these relays (the UL listed ones) throughout my new house. The power monitoring is a nice feature as well, but you can save money and get the relays that don't include power monitoring.These can also act as Bluetooth proxies in Home Assistant, which will be very useful, but I haven't tried this yet.

Easy to configure and integrate into my Home Assistant installation. If using range extender be sure to password protect its WiFi hot spot.

Ordered one of these a while back to put some outside lights on a schedule without changing how the switch looked/functioned. Getting a couple more, now that I know these are so much more than what I could ever need. Setting two up on an odd room where two sets of ceiling lights are operated by separate single pole switches. Now after installing these and adding "actions" in the app, I will have both light switches operate like a three way switch without running any wires. Lots of cool an unique features to play with as well that are way above my ability but these are quite useful and a good price to boot.

Update: after having one of these deployed for a bit, I am having a bit of an issue with the reported power and energy flowing through the device being randomly 20-75% lower than what they should be. Volts and amps match my multimeter/clamp ammeter values to within 1.5% or so, and are reasonable for the motor in the circuit. But the calculation for power going to the motor (and the kWh used derived from this) is unrealistically low! Firmware 1.4.2 in use at the moment. We'll see what Shelly or their forums say about it.I have updated all the APs in my house to be WPA3 only. It's been a nightmare trying to find smart appliances that don't only speak WPA2. Fortunately, these little guys do join a WPA3-SAE based network no problem. They are 2.4ghz only though.Included firmware did not have the advertised web portal for device setup. Had to use the Shelly Android app to get them onto my Wi-Fi. But, once I updated the firmware to the latest, the web portal worked after a factory reset. Great and easy integration with Home Assistant.Max wire size is 14AWG, and they are not kidding about that being the maximum. Neither 12AWG solid nor stranded will allow the clamp screws to engage.Impressed by how small these things are. But they do make a surprising amount of heat even with no current flowing through them. Oh well I guess smart homes aren't efficient homes...

I put these behind my light switches as I have Legrand deco decorative switches. You can't just replace a switch with a smart switch that doesn't match, and Legrand's smart switch line is pretty bad. Put these behind my traditional switches and love it. Works amazing with Home Assistant and made a nice addition to my smart home.
