Great phone
My last phone was a Nokia 720 and it died just when I needed it most. So for two days I had to recomission an old phone while I waited for this phone to arrive. Why another Windows phone? I had been toying with the idea of upgrading my phone from 3G to 4G. I like the Nokia Here Maps and the rather neat Windows Phone menu. Lack of apps is a bit of a problem, but at least my phone does not get clogged up with things I do not need.So all in all, I settled for the Nokia Lumia 735. And I have been very pleased with my purchase. The screen is much better and the phone is faster. The one thing that I bought for the phone is a really good leather case, which has lifted the phone from being a very boring grey phone to a very desirable piece of kit.

Good phone, good value.
Fabulous phone for the price. For a while it was a close call between this and the slightly more expensive Lumia 830, but since this handset will be used more often for Skype, Viber, etc. the 735 is the logical choice. This is a three star phone under some criteria, but the front camera is significantly better than almost any other smartphone. Especially in this price bracket. If you don't have money to burn but use social media and VoIP comms a lot, this is as good a value for money Windows Phone solution as you're likely to find anywhere. Plus, unlike some newer higher spec phones this model supports an external memory card slot.I found initial setup and updating to be more tedious than I expect a smartphone in this day and age to be, but other than that few 'cons' so far.Update after 1 year: minus another star. Microsoft have done a poor job pushing and supporting it's app store. Bluetooth a little flakey now too.

Great!
I have been using it since two weeks and I am quite happy.I avoid repeating detailed specs that can be easily found online. As a summary:- 2xcamera (rear and front), good quality;- 4G/LTE;- NFC;- removable battery (which brings you anyway easily through the day);- 4.7'' display, HD720 (1280 x 720), good quality;- 8GB RAM, SD card up to 128GB (you'll definitely need a card since the OS alone will need about 3.5 GB RAM);- OS: windows phone 8.1What I like:- everything: the OS is responsive, easy to use, predictable. What I particularly like:- HERE maps are included: you can download them and use offline too (very useful in case of poor reception or when abroad to avoid roaming costs); What I miss:- I don't miss anything special. All major apps are available. I was maybe lucky but have found apps for my banks and to access my storage (Synology); iPlayer and ITV player are also there... XBMC remote too... I would recommend you, however, to check before buying in the windows store http://www.windowsphone.com/en-gb/store whether that special app that you absolutely need is available (check also maybe for an alternative);- the only thing I am missing so far is a native client to access windows shared folders; there is paid-for app, however, that seems to work fine.Others:- you don't really need to know, as the OS will take care of everything. I would suggest, however, that you understand the difference between the three buttons/icons (Back, Start, and Search):a) search: self-explanatory;b) start: it takes you to the start screen freezing the state of the current app;c) back: it takes you back to the previous screen/app; if you happen to be on the first screen of an app and you press back, you close the app.So, whilst both b) and c) let you "navigate" trough the open apps, the effect is quite different. In practice, however, either way you won't notice any difference;- there are also a couple of other shortcuts (read the manual); I just mention the most useful one: if you press and keep pressing the back button, you land into the app switcher (similar to ALT+TAB in windows) where you can jump to an app that is currently running or close it.----All in all a good phone with a good OS. Worth considering if you are looking for an easy to use and good quality smartphone and if value for money is your thing.

Great quality phone
Great quality phone. I don't have a good history with smartphones, budget phones aren't great. From what I hear the cheaper Lumia is great as well but I splashed out on this and don't regret.Good screen, better touch than iPad air and fully customizable.Only downside is windows store doesn't have everything that apple and android have, so expect limited choice on apps, but that is a downside with the windows store not this phone. 5*

good for selfies and video calls on skype
Lumia 735 is a pocket friendly phone with a powerful front camera, good for selfies and video calls on skype, however for videos or to surf the net, I was highly disappointed as my older HTC desire ( android) performs better then the Lumia 735. Cortana is not so so helpful compared to the voice assistant in androids latest phones and this is down to Windows phones limited integration with Google products. Windows Market Applications are few and looks kindergarten. You tube app by default does not have voice control while a downloadable version with voice control and HD video does not work so efficiently, it includes advs and the video quality remain poor.

Now replaced by the excellent Samsung Galaxy Core which is like chalk and cheese
awful phone -- it takes ages to get it to respond, the wireless charging never functioned and the screen is really difficult to use. Got one star because it links well with the hands free in the car and will send and receive text messages via voice-- even then not very well. Now replaced by the excellent Samsung Galaxy Core which is like chalk and cheese.
