Doesn't melt, diy, modified a bit
After ordering and returning the plastic kind of mailbox and post (due to it being deformed /melted some before even opening the box.) I decided that I needed something that might last better. This metal post and box kit for the bill while still looking better than your standard wood post kits. Assembly wasn't hard at all. But I did choose to use a longer post (all the way to the top of the metal sleeve instead of half height) so as to be that much sturdier when connecting and supporting the arm that supports the box. That meant I had to drill all of the way through the wood post which took some very long and thick drill bits I had to borrow (not in your average drill bit range.) But once done, it was SOLID! Haven't had to think about it since, thank the stars! Finally, something did what it was supposed to.!!! I'm going to add new numbers and a solaright kit on the top so I can see it better in the dark (don't want to accidentally hit it backing out of my curved driveway ). I recommend this product!

Looks Good
I put together alone, 60yr old female. It's moderately easy but be aware the nuts are the kind with the plastic piece inside and will only tighten so far with your fingers. You will need a locking type wrench plus another one if doing alone, in order to tighten the nuts all the way to the bolts. If you have an extra set of hands, just regular wrench's will do but you do need 2 of them. It's looks really nice, wasn't scratched or dented at all.

Great over a post mailbox!
I love this mailbox! I put it over a 4x4 and did slide it down and cut the post flush to the top before assembling - just saw-zalled the top flush and then finished assembly Note: The screws are junk - cheap made in china ones, I had several snap under moderate tightening, so do be careful on that end or just plan to use better... The finished product is wonderful though and I would by this again if needed 100%

Ok but expected more for the price
It looks good with the finish and the ease of assembly. That said, the screws for my black post were bronze, the treads on one bolt were bad, when assembled I expected it to be stiffer (the arm is wobbly)…I purchased a new bolt from the hardware store and a can of high gloss spray paint, which took care of the bronze issues and replacing the bolt. I am thinking about putting a block between the back of the mail box and the post, this would stiffen it significantly. Overall, it is most likely stiff enough for a mail box, I do believe it is constructed well and will last.
