I love, love, LOVEEE b.tan. I discovered them during lockdown in 2020 when we were all chasing serotonin and a decent glow, and I’ve been loyal ever since. The scent, the color, the fact that I never end up orange or streaky… they’ve earned my trust. So when I saw they had a clear gel formula, curiosity won. Immediately. And yes, it delivered. Packaging (small detail, big win): Before we even get to the tan itself, I need to mention the pump clip. The bottle arrived with a little clip around the pump stem so it couldn’t be pressed during shipping. No leaks. No mystery tan explosions. I’ve kept the clip for travel because it’s genius. More brands need to do this. Gel consistency: This gel is the perfect middle ground. Not thick and sticky, not watery and messy. It spreads easily and evenly, especially with a tanning mitt, which I always recommend no matter the formula. It glides on smoothly and blends without effort. No panic blending, no racing the clock. No-rinse, no transfer: It goes on completely clear, which means no guide color, no stained sheets, and no awkward “don’t touch me” phase. It dries fairly quickly too. I was dry enough in about 10 minutes to throw on loose sweats and go about my evening. Dark, loose clothing is still your friend, but this formula is forgiving. Color & glow: This develops fast. Within 20–30 minutes, I could already see color starting to come through. By about 5–6 hours later, I had a deep, sun-kissed bronze that looked natural and even. No streaks. No orange tones. Just a rich glow that looks like you spent time outside instead of with a mitt in your bathroom. On top of all of this it leaves my skin feeling hydrated like I used a body lotion. Scent: This is one of the reasons I keep coming back to b.tan. There’s no classic self-tanner smell. It actually smells good, fresh and clean, and that stays true even as the tan develops. No “what is that smell?” moments. Product usage & value: What surprised me most is how little product I used compared to foam formulas. A little goes a long way. At $15 for a large bottle, the value is excellent, especially considering how dark and even the results are. Overall, this gel is everything I want in a self-tanner: easy, clear, fast-developing, great-smelling, and deeply bronzing without drama. Five stars, zero hesitation, and officially my new go-to in the b.tan lineup.

I hate to be a cliché and I’m not getting any money for writing this, but this is actually the best stuff I’ve ever used and I’ve tried EVERY self tanner out there. I put it on like an aloe gel and once it dries, which is within a few minutes, I can get dressed and go about my day. I see very little transfer even if I don’t wash it off. It smells wonderful and the tan is so incredibly dark and natural. My skin also looks moisturized. I’m extremely surprised about how good and inexpensive this product is. I’ve tried $300 plus self tanner’s and this is by far the best one I’ve ever used.

I’ve tried quite a few self-tanners, and b.tan Gel extra Dark has become one of my favorites. The biggest surprise was that it doesn’t have the strong, unpleasant self-tanner smell that so many others do. It’s also gentle enough for my sensitive skin and has never caused irritation. I love that it applies just like a moisturizer, making it quick and easy to get an even application. Another huge plus is that it drys quickly and doesn’t transfer onto my bedding or clothes while it develops. For the deepest color, I do recommend applying multiple layers. I also suggest using a rubber glove during application to avoid stained hands. The final result is a dark, natural-looking tan that doesn’t look orange or streaky. Overall, this is an easy-to-use self-tanner that gives beautiful, natural results with very little mess. I would definitely recommend it, especially if you have sensitive skin.

I’ve used this for several years, and I’m always pleased with the outcome. It’s a gradual Browning of the skin. The secret to no streaking is to put your lotion on your elbows, knees and your feet and then use the self tanner and apply it with a mitt. I haven’t used it on my face so I don’t know how it would do.

The color this provides is insanely good. Make sure you shower after 5-8 hours because the smell gets worse as the color develops. The color lasts longer than any mousse, applies easier, and you don’t need a lot. Use a mitt. I don’t recommend for beginners because it’s clear so it will be easy to miss spots if you’re not used to tanning. But it’s a 10 for me.

I really love all the b.Tan products and I do prefer the mousse type, however, I wanted to try something I didn't need to wash off. This stuff gives a great natural looking tan. I was afraid that, like most, it would be orange. The pink neoprene mit is perfect for a smooth even application. I sincerely believe I use less product when I use this as opposed to the mousse. This bottle seems like it will last all summer and possibly all year. Thank you b.Tan, for all your great products.

I had suchhhh high hopes for this product. It goes in with the most fragrant smell and it’s quite pleasant but once it dries, it quickly turns into that musty, spray tan small. Once you shower it seems to diminish but whoa was that a surprise. The color is nice and seems to last. It also literally didn’t transfer onto anything which I loved. It is very sticky after application until it fully absorbs and dries which is quite interesting. Overall, with 2 applications so far I’m still left with streaky marks and an uneven tan.

I love it. It genuinely gives a nice tan. I have used it twice, and the tan lasts for 5-6 days. It has a pleasant smell, and you don't get that after-smell that other self-tanning products often have. Remember to apply some moisturizer on your elbows, feet, and knees first. I forgot to do this the first time, and the only flaw was that my ankles and knees were darker. It did not stain my hands either. With the moisturizer, it comes out perfect! I have fair to medium skin and ordered the extra dark shade. I purchased the brush and used it to spread a little on my neck and face. I will continue to order, and it's a great price compared to other brands.
