Cattleman's Cut Big Hunter's Sausage, 2.75 Ounce (Pack of 6)

These sausages are the best commercial smokies I've ever had. They used just enough pepper to do it's job instead of overpowering everything. You get a very nice smokey flavor that tastes like it was actually smoked in a pit instead of sprayed with liquid smoke. 0 aftertaste of any kind, the cleanest taste. A lot less fat content than other brands, which I like. The moisture level is perfect, it's not dry or crumbly nor is it dripping grease The texture is superb. The only negetive I have to say is that each pack comes with 2 sausages. Each sausage is 4 1/2" - 5" long. There are 6 packs. That makes each sausage costing over 4 dollars each. Definately not something I would buy regularly, but def. will when I need to pair something with some good cheese.

I ate 4 of these. After the 4th I was going to throw the rest away. The casing was difficult to chew. I ended up tearing off pieces that I couldn't chew. Today I ate one and decided to see if I could remove some of the casing. Sure enough. I pulled about 4 small strips on the outside of the sausage. They tasted great after stripping it. It almost looked like thin layers of plastic I pulled off. And had eaten previously. I also noticed Silica gel packets within each package to absorb moisture, preventing condensation, mold, and bacterial growth. As those showed us in their pics.

these taste great, i prefer them cold in the fridge before eating but the taste quality is superb. not to salty, and lots of flavor. i thought they were really really BIG, but they aren't that big to me. but very tasty and worth the money.

They are mealy textured and the flavor is awful. I also received ones with just over a week before best by date. Tastes like cheap ingredients.

Out of six packages, one is completely covered in mold. The others look to be okay, but I use them for stocking stuffers so I guess we'll see in a couple of days. No time to return before Christmas so I'll *eat* the cost on this one;-) As far as Cattleman's Cut Hunter's Sausage (Landjaeger), it's the best I've found outside of Europe. For probably ten years I used Bavarian Meats, but have been unhappy with that product for some time. Now that I've found CCHS, I won't look back. Probably won't buy from Amazon again, or if I do I will remove it from the CC box and inspect it immediately.
