Coleman Big Game Big Sleeping Bag - For Tall Adults
Works Well !! Good quality, cotton canvas covered, warm bag with a cotton flannel liner and plenty of modern synthetic, polyester insulation. Stated size is 84 X 40 inches. Although I only have one bag, Coleman states that two of these bags can be zipped together for a double-up, 2-person bag. I bought this "Coleman Big Game Sleeping Bag" for a relative (who is 6-foot,1-inch tall and he says it has plenty of room for him) to fit on a popular, name brand, 3 foot wide "X-Large Outfitters Cot". The bag is well made and of generous length and width and covers the whole X-Large cot while actually hanging off the side a bit. Coleman's "ZipPlow" zipper is a great idea that seems to function very well to help avoid zipper snags. This bag has a built in, sturdy, canvas flap (that is stitched onto the head-end of the bag) and then rolls around the bag and ties in place (as a cowboy style cover) when it is rolled up, but the flap leaves the ends partially open and so doesn't fully function as a complete encased cover for this sleeping bag to fit inside. It could be a good idea to have an accessory nylon bag (laundry bag type with a drawstring) of dimensions 30inch X 40inch like the one I bought here on Amazon for $7.50 to keep this bag encased while in storage or transporting. This Coleman sleeping bag is a large, heavy bag that is better suited to car camping than it would be for back-pack camping because of it's 11 pounds of weight. Yes, it's heavy, but it has a lot of quality insulation to keep you warm. That said, buy it with confidence that it is a quality, large sized sleeping bag. The cold comfort rating of this sleeping bag rates it to 0-5 degrees (F) is a bit of an exaggeration, ---and it seems that all of the companies, not just Coleman, exaggerate their cold comfort ratings a bit to allow for factors like using the sleeping bag within a tent, on top of a ground mat, while the user is wearing thermal long underwear. --- But Coleman is not alone in this rating method, all sleeping bag manufactures seem to do this. I would rate the cold comfort level a bit higher at about 15 degrees (F), maybe lower if you have a blanket or other clothing to layer on top while you sleep. The canvas outer cover of the bag seems pretty durable but is not waterproof (and this is true of most sleeping bag outer covers). If you believe you will be sleeping in a damp tent, I would recommend spray-treating the canvas cover with ScotchGuard or other suitable water resistant treatment spray. For really wet conditions like open ground camping or a leaky tent in a rain storm, nothing beats a water-proof bivy sack made for the purpose of keeping your sleeping bag dry. Note that it's generous width of 40 inches means it will not roll up into a small package like a backpackers bag, but you will enjoy the extra width while sleeping inside it. Good Sleeping Bag.

Great sleeping bag
This is the second one of these sleeping bags I've purchased through Amazon. First one I found to be very warm and roomy. It has a soft flannel type inner lining which I think helps with the bag being very warm. I tend to roll over in my sleep and a single one of these bags is easy to do it in with all the room. After one season I decided it would be nice to have a second one and zip the two together for a really nice size bag Have zipped the two together and climbed in. Very nice having the extra room. Have not had a chance to try out in the field but will be using on a four day camping trip in November in the mountains and am looking forward to using it zipped up to my first one. Should be an even better more comfortable trip. The outside of the bag is more like a soft canvas, it might bother some people didn't really bother me. Very warm bag. I would say for 50 - 60 degree nights. If warmer out then that you would probably have to sleep with bag opened. Wouldn't think twice about using it in Temps down to 20-30 degrees it's a good cold weather bag. Only down fall with it is the price. It's a little high and unfortunately a couple days after I purchased it before I even took delivery the bag was selling for approximately 20.00 cheaper through Amazon then what I paid...definitely a great bag though.

Awesome bag if you use it properly with proper expectations.
Review from Boy Scout, Marine, current adult Scout leader, and avid camper. I've used this bag for many years on at least 40 or more occasions from warm nights at 60 deg to 15 deg. If you car camp, this bag is the bomb for those who like room to sprawl, or for those who like to snuggle up with others. First and foremost, this bag is big and square. It has a lot of extra room to sleep on your side or turn without having to move the bag, and being square, you can zip it together with another bag and it fits nicely on queen sized air mattress. Second, it is really soft. What this isn't: a light bag (not for hiking or hauling very far. It has a rating of 0. It will keep you alive at 0 IF YOU HAVE: 1) the mass to fill it up (the dead space in a big bag is really hard to heat up, but you can stuff it with clothes to help), 2) you have the proper LAYERED clothing on (your whole body, plus wool cap), 3) you went to bed dry and NOT sweaty or wet, 4) you have the proper insulation BELOW you, 5) and you have a pretty active metabolism and run "warm". Then, if each of these items are met, you'll still probably shiver at 0 degrees (depending on your clothing layers) but you'll survive. If you are camping flat on the ground, or on an air mattress with this bag without an insulating pad, you're 5' 6" and have a ton of extra space in the bag, you don't layer clothing head to toe, you're camping outside in the wind... you're in for a miserable night, and if you're anywhere near the bag threshold, you better be next to a roaring fire! This bag is what it is, great when properly utilized, really inexpensive, and super duper comfortable and perfect for families and car camping but I wouldn't let my 10 year old son or wife use it near the lower rating due to it size as we don't camp with enough clothing to stuff it full. However, 40 and above, it's awesome for smaller people. If you're looking for a bag to really take you down to 0 degrees and be comfortable without a ton of caveats, look elsewhere. With a properly fitting bag, layered clothing, and proper pad (pads are rated too BTW), you'll be fine.

Into the fire... er... winter
I recently purchased two Big Game sleeping bags: one for myself and one for my brother. We were going on a late November hunt at 10,000 feet. I needed something warm, and from the reviews, this sleeping bag fit the bill. Our shelter consisted of a large tent with a portable heater. Needless to say, we weren't backpacking deep into the woods. My first impressions of the bag were positive: roomy (I'm 6'6" and need a roomy bag) and easy (the zippers have neat protective guards on them to keep them from snagging). The temperatures during the day hung around 35 degrees Fahrenheit without taking into consideration the wind chill. At night, the temperature was in the low teens at best. I wore cheap socks the first night, and my toes were cold. We also didn't use the heater the first night. The sleeping bag worked, we survived cold weather. The second and third nights my brother and I wore wool socks to bed and let the heater heat our bodies and the tent before calling it a night. We turned the heater off before falling asleep. We slept very well the second and third nights. Pros: Warm bag into the single digits with a lot of wind, but protected by a tent Large Comfortable Neat no-snag zipper Cons: Strange hood for storage (ditch the hood and go with large rubber bands) (minor issue) Bulky (great for truck camping or base camping, bad for backpack camp) Overall: It is a solid sleeping bag that fits me. Great purchase.

Warm and cozy
Very very big and cozy. We actually zipped two together to make a huge bed for our camping adventures. We roll it up during the day and spread it out for sleep at night. Itโs extremely warm. Last night was in the mid 50s. Kept us warm. Tonight will be in the 40s. Iโm sure it will keep us warm then too. Not sure about how warm it would be in temps lower than that. And I donโt plan on testing that scenario. Havenโt wash it yet. Will do that once we get home.

The greatest sleeping bag!
I finally purchased the Coleman Big Game sleeping bag.The flannel lining is adequate.Really impressed by the zipper plow technology. It did not snag using one hand even though it was still in a compressed state. However I question the pink plastic zipper assembly for a lack of a better word.As long a it holds up that is a non starter. Some reviewers questioned the adequacy of the bags shell. That is another bright spot in my opinion. It states it is 100% cotton shell to my liking it appears to be a light durable canvas. Most sleeping bags are not water resistant.I did test it buy pouring a little water just to see if it would puddle. No such luck it soaked right in but it didn't seep to the inside layer.Thumbs up!.I was prepared for this and will spray it with kiwi heavy duty water repellent. All of my tents are waterproof but I can imagine this bag being soaked and heavy hard to dry in the field around the campfire.Another question from reviewers what is the actual length and width.I can see some being upset stating it is shorter than advertised.I too measured it straight out of the compressed state.I also called Coleman with this concern with no reply before purchasing. The specifications state 84 in long 40 in wide.It is hard to measure you would need another person to help stretch it for a true spec. However I got roughly 80 x 37 in it's new out of box state.I am 6 ft tall and this bag is stiil man sized.Completely covers your head and then some.So once your in it expands.Stated measurements could be almost right.Lastly the inbox packing is not viable roll up.Like others this is Cowboy Bed roll time.Roll from bottom to the top into its cover and tie strings on both ends.Couldn't be easier.By the way I purchased a (Nylon Laundry Bag - Orange, 30โ x 40โ - Sturdy rip and tear resistant nylon material with drawstring closure. Ideal machine washable nylon laundry bags for college, dorm and apartment dwellers) .Fit perfect. They come in all colors including camo an are $6.One last comment the handle on the cover seems well I think I will have my wife reinforce it for ease of secure carrying. Lastly this bag far exceeds all other bags for real camping obviously not hiking. It met all my criteria and some. The lengthy review is only to answer other Amazonians concerns.I give it 5 stars and 2 thumbs up.Well done Coleman. This is truly the last sleeping bag I will be buying except the other 5 Coleman Big Games for my Family.I will not share or lone out!!! Commercial Heavy Duty Jumbo Sized Nylon Laundry...

Great purchase!
Very thick and warm. Good quality. Not for hikes or backpacking, as it's quite bulky and heavy. It was perfect for what we needed. Would definitely recommend. I believe it will last for several years.

Great so far...
Sorry to say I've only used it once, and sadly never even got to sleep in it, but I was able to lay in it for a quick nap while at a week long event in Queen Creek, AZ during February and was very pleased with it. Would love to take it camping up in the mountains and see how well it does in cold weather but that's not going to happen for some time. Was a little disappointed in the size of the bag. I'm 5'9" and nearly 280 lbs. I'm embarrassed to say. The bag was a little tight for me zipped. Unzipped it was great. Since I never like to zip the bags anyway this will still work for me. It was warm and cozy the one afternoon I was able to use it, very soft lining. Pillow actually worked pretty well for me as I had the bag on 2 twin sized Coleman air mattresses. Kind of like laying on a waterbed so the pillow was just the right size. Love the canvas outer shell, did not slip and slide like my other Coleman with a nylon shell. Hate to post with not really being able to test it, but it's great so far. Will know more this summer...maybe.

Warm and soft.
Warm soft inner with plenty of room to move around. Quite bulky so best for camping with a vehicle, would not be easy to carry in a rucksack.

Excellent quality
The pillow is just a bit of silliness, give it to a kitten, but the bag is great. It has been very toasty in sub zero mornings and the zip is easy opening (like throwing a doona aside) for a fast transition in to the cold. The padding makes all surfaces more comfortable and I have plenty of room to roll around and snuggle down without loss of heat. It is as soft as an old flannie shirt, makes no noise like polyester versions but is heavy, this is not a hiking bag.

Comfy
Sooo comfortable. Itโs so soft and with the canvas outside it is durable as well. I could see this bag lasting 20 years with moderate use.

Works great for summer/fall Rocky Mountain tent camping
My priorities that led me to this product were high warmth, being able to combine sleeping bags into a double setup, and large size. Essentially I use this for luxury camping/tenting. This is not a lightweight backcountry bag. I recommend buying a colder rated sleeping bag than you think you need, because sleeping bag ratings are notably optimistic. This sleeping bag works very well for me in summer and fall Rocky Mountain use (June through September). It hasn't been too warm in summer, nor too cold even through late fall at high elevation. The sleeping bag is notably oversized and comes with a mini pillow. There is also a mini canvas hoodie thing built into the bag. The extra width and length is much appreciated. Being machine washable is a definite plus (use a commercial washer). I really like and use the ability to zip two sleeping bags together into one large sleeping bag (which can be hard to find). And they zip together the best way possible, in a spread out fashion with one bag on top and the other on the bottom. I've seen some left and right zipper sleeping bags that only zip together when the bags lay beside each other, so you end up with a zipper in the middle between the two sleepers, which isn't ideal for movement, comfort or sealing. The only caveat I have is that these bags are canvas style, so they will absorb moisture and are susceptible to getting wet if exposed to water/rain. But it hasn't been a problem for me in all of my tent camping. The canvas is heavy, but soft and silent. The carry bag has two size options and the sleeping bag won't roll up into the compressed bag size unless you have very good straps (i.e., metal) and the muscle to cinch them down well. Doing that I can confirm I can get it recompressed to the small size, which works well for space-challenged vehicles. For the size, temperature rating, and being able to combine into one large sleeping bag, I was unable to find a synthetic bag at any price that could reasonably compete. You had to give up significantly in either size, temp rating, or being able to combine two bags. So this product has a lot going for it. Update, as of the end of 2015 and through four seasons of use and many tenting trips, my two Coleman Big Game sleeping bags have been excellent. Still the same here as of December 2020 with these sleeping back. They're my favorite camping bag, especially in the Canadian Rockies and in high elevation cold fall overnight temperatures.
