Does this scan through Gmail without a middle man? It's a feature that I've seen as hit and miss on units.

Almost everything about the PageWide series is hit and miss, please avoid and save yourself a ton of headache and stay far clear! I don't get paid by any printer company, just speaking of personal experience.

Is there a way to print 11x17 using a manual feed tray?

No, the paper path is only 9" wide.

The description says this has 70ppm but the HP website has this model doing only 50ppm?? What have you found?

50 ppm listed on the HP site is for "ISO, laser comparable". 70ppm is the draft quality speed, the next quality setting gives a better print but slows it down to 50 ppm. I have found that text documents print well in the draft setting but anything with color needs one of the slower settings. Colors turn out a bit faded in the draft setting.

Hi, does the scan function scan to searchable pdf? e.g. can open the pdf, search and it finds the text within the scanned document?

I have the HP PageWide Pro MFP 477dw and it does have the searchable pdf destination on the onscreen scan page. It scans a bit slower than regular pdf scan, but if you need it, it's worth the wait.
