I bought this. looks great but my files don't fit. it says fits a4 - which is what i have but the files are too big. what size files do i need to buy?

You'll probably find they are foolscap which is slightly bigger than A4. A4 fits in mines. Have you got the rods to the very outer part? There's 2 different slots
