Simple and effective
Bought this for my daughter to film my granddaughter's games for mentoring purposes. I bought a more expensive one and had to return it was too complicated (4 people tried). This one was 1/5th the look price and works exactly as we needed. Im shocked and pleased. Im happy the other one was too complicated. I saved!

HORRIBLE app - Videos Failed to Save in App
BEWARE - The Hohem Joy app that goes along with this gimbal is very unreliable. My software was up to date. I recorded a video only just over 5 mins long, and it said Video FAILED to save. Very upset, because the video was not recoverable. Very disappointed. Do NOT use this app!! Such a shame, because in order to fully use the gimbal’s zoom function while recording, you are forced to use the app and not just the iPhone camera app.

inspires me to make more videos!
ok, i'm a gadget nut. yes, I might have a problem! with all of the cameras and tripods and action mounts I've used, I've never used a gimbal stabilizer. this is like having my own steadi cam they use to make movies! hard to believe some of this technology is available to us consumers now. this seems to be something of an entry model to keep the price down, but it gives a good preview of what the bigger models offer and what's coming for all of us.i'll grab some video with this to show the modes. basically it puts the phone in variations of "stable". the idea of course is it doesn't move when you move, it only moves (more or less) when you move the joystick. so you can be moving around and the phone stays locked where it is pointed. it's a strange effect when carrying the phone!it's also super for selfies, as it has the remote (bluetooth) shutter and camera controls. the gimbal is dense but not TOO heavy and it folds up reasonably. maybe it needs a case, but it goes in the backpack with me everywhere now.the handle comes with a cool little tripod. when closed it is just is an extension of the handle. great design! it's a standard 1/4" thread so can go on a "real" tripod or mount if you prefer. but i love how small this is. when opened, the unit will stand on the desk in front of me and it follows me to keep me in frame. it's a pretty cool trick I've only seen with an Owl style webcam - and a pretty cool effect when it works. and of course this physically moves the camera instead of just digitally tracking a subject. try that, webcam!i will say it doesn't fit my phone perfectly. it is a Samsung "normal" size Galaxy, not a plus or ultra. if i center the phone, the clamp presses the main button of the phone. if i don't center the phone the gimbal complains. the camera is on the opposite side of the phone from the buttons so I feel like they could have made a mount that doesn't interfere with the camera lenses, but doesn't press the button either. yes it would lose some of its portability.
