It did exactly what I expected it to do. This day and age that's saying a lot. No frills just a straight forward way to get my TV into my speakers.

Another Sound Miracle!
Couple of things to know before I give the rating. Most HDTVs are doing away or have done away with RCA or 3.5mm connections. If you'd used HDTV RCA hookups for Equalizers, amplifiers, stereos, AV amps, other externals from the new TVs you have to find something to convert the sound from OPTICAL (NOT HDMI arc) to RCA to your external component, then back to your sound output source, external speakers, soundbars, headphones, etc. THIS AUTOUTLET DAC and TAIKURA ADC combine to allow you to loop TV optical thru the DAC to the component, back out to the ADC to the speakers/sb. There's another converter which is for audio capture only, it will not work in this scenario, you need the DAC/ADC combo to get sound. OK, here's the good news, IT WORKED! From TV/opt>AUTOUTLET>RCA EQ>TAIKURA>Soundbar. Sound is as good as the soundbar produced under the HDMI arc direct. The 192khz to 48khz made no discernable difference at the soundbar. Best thing about this is now, instead of the usual ~3+ frequency bands internal in new HDTVs, when your 12-15 freq equalizer is introduced, you can shape the sound frequencies to your liking. That means for instance, when you're listening to anouncers in a ball game, the canned stadium noise can be muted down, boost the voice vols, and enjoy the game. This was NOT possible using HDMI arc with 3 freq bands no matter how hard you try. So, this set up gets you out of the HDTV/soundbar jail, instead of a closed system with little ability to shape your sound, combo opens up and YOU control the sound. Audiophiles ears should be straight up by now. heh. Best news about this whole process? VERY inexpensive and I thank the inventors in filling a void that needed to be fixed. HDTVs and soundbars sound are to say the least, very poor. Wish it weren't true, but most of us who have watched TV for 70 yrs know this is true (TVs in the 50s had better sound than the stuff out today!).

This was educational
Well, I learned a lot by adapting a 40 year old stereo to work with my Samsung Frame TV. The frame doesn't allow anything but HDMI Arc and Optical audio input, which I guess makes sense if you're trying to get people to buy $500 sound bars. But here's what I learned, apparently optical audio basically makes the volume rocker on my TV remote not work anymore. And that's because optical audio is a one volume fits all kinda thing. So running it through a DAC to my speakers I'd have to adjust the volume on the DAC in order to change the volume. So heads up, optical audio takes the power of controlling the volume away from the TV. But that's not to say this product did anything wrong. But the product does have a flaw. Yes it translates audio perfectly and does it's job like it's supposed to, but if I turn off my TV this shoots out an awful and loud static sound for a couple seconds which is pretty awful to listen to. Luckily I only turn my TV on/off like twice a day so it's not too bad, but this could be really unbearable for someone who turns it off and on a lot. Anyways that's about it, this turns analog sound to digital sound pretty okay for my needs. I plugged it in and forgot about it.

It's a great way to connect your TV to an audio receiver
You plug one end to your fiber optic output on your TV and the other end into the rca audio input on your receiver. You can power the de ice by plugging the usb into the usb plug on your TV or any usb power brick. The sound is clear but not as good as analog. I enjoy it although its hard to know if it's truly a 192khz device.

Digital to analog converter with RCA jacks
I have a wicked Yamaha receiver from the 90’s I won’t part with hooked to older Klipsch speakers. I have a non-smart Samsung 60 inch TV. *Do yourself a favor and get the 7ft cord* I hooked the optical cable to the optical tv port and hooked the other cable to one of inputs on the TV for power. I hooked the RCA jacks to VCR1 (I guess I could have used laser disc/tv or others) I went into the TV audio settings and did what the directions said. I put the function on the receiver on corresponding VCR1 setting. I don’t know how long it will last but I’m happy.

Better than Best Buy
Easy install and works great. The guy at Best Buy said it couldn't be done without 3-4 powered units to make the conversion, this did it in one step and was far cheaper.

Does the job well
Works wonderfully well in booking up a modern TV to an analogue stereo receiver.
