6 adorable animals that are stitched in segments. Amamani is short for Amigurumi Amish Puzzle Animals. They are based on the traditional Amish puzzle ball, and, as such, come apart into three segments, or rings, which have to be assembled to form your animal. Gauge isn't important in these projects, however it is important that you work a tightly as you comfortably can. Helpful tips and step-by-step photos are included in this pattern book. Each of the 6 designs are made using Deborah Norville Everyday Worstedweight yarn. Animals included are Dinosaur, Elephant, Giraffe, Turtle and 2 versions of the Lion. The basic puzzle ball structure is easy to get to grips with
The basic puzzle ball structure is easy to get to grips with, and the idea behind the animals is fun and inventive - but just as a warning - the shaping on some of the heads is really rather complex by amigurumi standards - I'm an experienced crocheter so managed but it was a fun and impressive skill workout. The explanations and photographs are fantastic though - just thought I'd slightly forewarn people that the shaping is complex with lots of short row working, working part rows and swapping between working in rounds and rows and back again. I enjoyed the challenge though - normal amigurumi can get a bit boring after the umpteenth round of increasing and decreasing DC.

Great fun
Excellent book and very clear instructions! Having a brilliant time making these. You just need to remember that the terms are USA not UK - other than that, great and would recommend.

Precioso

Cute and fun, the perfect toy project to knit and to play with.
This is one of those books with a cover that clearly shows what you're getting into. On the cover you see the different projects a turtle, a dinosaur, a giraffe, an elephant, a lion. The sixth project is a white lion with a fringy mane. The designs mostly share the same parts except for the head, but the turtle has different legs. The designs are good looking and fun. I'm impressed by how clear the explanations are. A lot of crochet books have nebulous instructions, but not this one. It has lots of information on how to achieve the techniques presented in the book and a lot of photos on how the pieces come together. Even photos taken from different angles. So the reader's understanding is not left to chance, like in some publications. I think the instructions are good enough that even an enterprising newbie could give it a try. If you're interested in crocheting for toys, you should give this one a chance.

Awesome patterns!
The patterns (basically all variations of one concept) are incredibly easy to follow, even for a beginner. I have a little experience crocheting but am by no means a pro, especially when it comes to reading patterns, but there are lots of pictures and very clear descriptions and I had no trouble following these patterns at all. Since buying the book a few months ago, I've made them all for my 2 year old daughter and she loves them! They are fun to make and can be completed in a few days to a week working at a pretty leisurely pace. Definitely worth buying!
