good product
The stone is exactly as advertised. There's two sides. One for rough honing and the other one for a polished edge. I would suggest for those who have not not sharpened knives before to check out the video that's on Amazon. It's a quick tutorial that lasts about a minute and a half. Just remember to be very careful when you sharpen it.

A Must-Have for Every Home Chef: Knife Sharpening Stone Kit!
Title: A Must-Have for Every Home Chef: Knife Sharpening Stone Kit! Rating: โ โ โ โ โ (5/5) Review: I recently purchased the Knife Sharpening Stone Kit, and I must say it has exceeded my expectations in every way. As an avid home chef, I understand the importance of having sharp knives, and this kit has become an indispensable tool in my kitchen. First and foremost, the quality of the sharpening stones is outstanding. The kit includes multiple grits, allowing me to tackle various levels of blade dullness. The stones are made of high-quality materials that ensure durability and longevity. They provide a consistent sharpening surface, which is essential for achieving razor-sharp edges on my knives. The sharpening process is straightforward and user-friendly. The kit comes with detailed instructions, making it easy even for beginners to achieve professional results. The angle guide is particularly helpful, as it helps maintain a consistent angle while sharpening. I found that it greatly improved my technique and resulted in a more precise edge. What sets this kit apart from others on the market is the inclusion of a non-slip bamboo base. This feature ensures stability during the sharpening process, preventing accidents and providing peace of mind. Additionally, the base doubles as a convenient storage solution for the stones when not in use. Another aspect I appreciate about this kit is its versatility. It works not only on kitchen knives but also on a wide range of blades, including pocket knives, scissors, and even gardening tools. It's a comprehensive sharpening solution that caters to all my needs. In conclusion, the Knife Sharpening Stone Kit has become an essential addition to my kitchen arsenal. Its exceptional quality, user-friendly design, and versatility make it an excellent investment for both professional chefs and home cooks. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned knife enthusiast, I highly recommend this kit for maintaining and restoring the sharpness of your blades.

Great results, but needs instructions
Iโm really happy with how this whetstone kit has worked. The double-sided option is very practicalโthe 1000 grit side does a great job of sharpening a dull edge, and the 6000 grit side finishes it off nicely. After a bit of practice, I was able to get my kiddo's Cub Scout whittling knife back to being sharp, and the base keeps everything steady so it doesn't slide around while youโre working. The only downside is that it didn't come with any instructions in the box. If youโve never used a stone before, you definitely have to look up a tutorial online to figure out how long to soak it and what angle to hold the knife. Itโs not hard once you see it done, but a simple setup guide would have been a big help for a beginner. Aside from the missing manual, itโs a high-quality set that really delivers if youโre looking to move away from those cheap sharpeners.

Works great if you're patient
Watch a few YT videos about this and get going with this dual stone. I thought I needed a 300 or 400 grit stone like one video said, but these are enough. Start with the 1K for about 5-8 minutes per side. You're not grinding away much with a 1K stone: that would take you forever. When you glide along, try to use the full length of the stone with each swipe. Eventually, you'll need to buy a leveling stone to level it out--but that's not until you notice a dip in the stone. You need a completely flat stone for best results. When a burr develops on one side, it's time to switch. Run that thing up and down, back and forth for a good 5-8 minutes. You don't have to press hard, just slight pressure to get a good swipe. Then, go back and forth sides until you feel that burr is gone. It's time to step up to the 6K side now. The 6K side does a little more than polishing, as others might suggest. It makes the edge sharp still. Japanese knives will take longer to sharper because of harder steel. Use the spacer tool they give you to get the 20 degree angle, but really for Japanese you need a 15 degree angle. The spacer was good enough for me. I'm too new at this to do it freehand and guess what 15 degrees is. Also, I took masking tape and wrapped it twice around where the knife meets the handle. You don't want to grind the handle part and this protects it. After the 6K session, try to cut a tomato or pickle into thin slices. That's a good test. It will never be like a razor blade, but it should be a lot sharper than it was for doing this. The first time with there things will take you 20 minutes or so, but you'll get faster. Also, I put a damp cloth on the counter between the wood holder. That keeps it form moving around. Good luck!

Ordered this for my husband but he said it NEEDS the instructions.
I ordered this for my husband, who is experienced in using a stone. The following review is from him. The stone is a high quality constructed stone. The two grits are good for most knives. With no directions it's difficult to get started. The silicone holder and the bamboo non-skid base are very helpful for safety reasons. The first thing you need to do is soak the stone in water for at least 4 to 5 minutes. It's important to remember to rinse the stone after use and let it air-dry for 24 hours before storing it. Especially if it'll be stored in a dark place. If you don't it can mold. It is a good stone sharpener even for the beginner. But without instructions it's basically useless. If it came with instructions I would have given it a 5 star rating.
