Quality Harp
This is just a beautiful harp. In all aspects however (dimensions, shape, size, etc) that I can tell it is exactly like my less expensive Hohner Big River harp, except it has a wooden comb instead of plastic, and "feels" a bit higher quality. I can't honestly hear that much difference with wood over plastic, but I'm fairly amateur and I've been told by more experienced players that it has a "warmer" sound. Like every Hohner I've had my hands on so far it has a very lovely sound and is easy to play. Some have said the sharp edges and wooden comb are not comfortable to play for long periods at a stretch, and I think that is mostly true, but I guess it is something you get used to with this style of harp (like Marine Band, Special 20, etc) -- they are all squarish on the edges and a little sharp on the hands; you may build up some calluses between your thumb and index finger!!. If you are a beginner I would actually recommend you go for the cheaper Big River harp as a starter, since they are effectively identical as a learning instrument. And if you looking for a comparable harp to the Big River with smoother, more comfortable edges, I can recommend the Seydel Blues line. Note that this harp is in the key of A, which is lower than the usual recommended starter harp of C. I already own a C and I think for a second key the A is a good bet, since it seems like the second most common key for beginning tutorials, after C.

Quality Instrument
I'm really pleased with this Hohner Blues Harp. For me, the Marine Band probably has a slightly richer tone, but I'm fairly new to the world of blues harmonica, and I find the Blues Harp is easier to bend and overblow, and also a little more comfortable to play. Please note that the sound quality is very good, and only marked down as I'm comparing with the Marine Band. It's still way ahead of a couple of cheaper brands I've tried out. This was great value at the discount price, and I'll definately be adding more of these to my collection in due course.

Excellent Harp!
After 50 years break, I decided to try and play the harp again. I needed an 'A' harp primarily to play Smokestack Lightning by Howlin Wolf. It was worth the purchase just for that! However, I now have a few harps in different keys and am persevering with other songs. The Hohner Blues Harp is an ideal instrument for me.

Still the best...
Way back when I was a kid, I joined the folk group at school and Mr Plant, my geography teacher, gave me a Hohner Blues Harp in the key of C and said "Here you are Rob, learn Blowing in the Wind, Bob Dylan for next week". 50 years on and I still use them (although not for folk as I had an epiphany shortly afterwards and discovered Led Zeppelin - sadly Mr Plant wasn't related to Robert!). I've occasionally tried other brands and recently bought a Fender 'blues' harp for a session whilst I was in Salisbury - reedy and tinny is the only way I can describe it, no good for vamping at all. 'Why did you buy it then?' I hear you ask... well sadly, there are no music shops in Salisbury anymore and I had to drive to Absolute Music, Poole and Fender was all they had in the key of A... satisfied? Yes, Hohner are expensive, but you get what you pay for and that is quality. As the saying goes: 'buy cheap buy twice'

Great little blues harp
I bought one of these about 25yrs ago in E, never really got into it but picked it up recently and thought "hmmmmm". The modern harps are a little larger and the casing on the Blues Harp is slightly more curved than on the Marine band harps, which I feel fit better in the hand. Respond beautifully to the draw and bend notes very easily. I now have three. : )

Hohner quality.
Just as I had hoped, the Bles Harp has the feel of a quality item. I would say that is slightly more difficult to get single notes than on the Hohner Big River, but then I am just a learner.Easy to get consistent bends, nice easy tones. You need a A harp if you have downloaded the "super tutor" ipad app!!

great quality as you'd expect from Hohner.
great sound straight out of the box. worth taking a bit of time to break in the reeds.

Buen sonido aunque algo cara

Peccato. Voto 1.
