No it does not. There is no space. It’s basically a sifter that you lift up and the good liter falls throw leaving the clumps. I would not recommend it with saw dust.

Q: Does the sifter work with PrettyLitter silica cat litter?

I have not used it with that litter, so I cannot say for certain, but any sandy, granulated litter should work with So Phresh Petco Brand Lift-to-Sift Cat Litter Box.

The sifter tray holes are too big for the pine pellets. I ended up purchasing a similar size liter tray at Petco for $16 and drilled holes all over the bottom that are large enough to let the sawdust fall through but small enough to keep the pellets from falling through. I use this new liter box with the drill holes as the sifter.

Yes it does, with an opening in front for the cat to enter and exit.
