Simple, easy, effective. I use these snap traps outdoors where they are exposed to direct sunlight and they have not "melted" like other black plastic traps do. I mounted each to a 3/4 in thick particle board with 2 screws. 2 traps resulted in perfect execution. One trap stunned the animal and I was able to dispatch without any issue. I consider these of good quality and expect them to last until extermination is complete.

We are having right around 50% success rate, which over this period of time is impressive.We have bought more of them and feel like we will have the rodents under control soon. Best of all we are NOT harming other animals as one does with poison.Highly recommend these.Review in progress day Four, Five and Six- Day four I decided to just bait the traps and not set them. Interestingly enough even some of the baited traps were untouched- 6 out of 12. Again we have a sizable rat population as they are horse stables. Day Five I set 12 traps, 2 were untouched and unsprung, 8 were sprung and bait gone, and 2 had caught something- so our worse percentage yet. Day 6 I baited 10 traps and set two of them. So two rats caught out of two 100%.Review in Progress- Day Three of using the Rat Traps. This morning of the 12 traps, 5 had caught rats and the other 7 had been sprung and the peanut butter eaten. First night with a less then 50% performance. I did rinse the traps off this morning. Tonight I baited the traps with peanut butter and did not set them. I think some of the rats have gotten wise to them.Day two of using the rat traps in the Review in Progress. Again this is horse stables so one expects to have some rats. I set out 12 traps again last night. Caught 7 Rats, 1 trap was untouched, and four traps had been sprung with no catch and all bait eaten out of it. So we did slightly better with a 58% catch rate last nitght 48% trap sprung, no catch and bait eaten and 8% not touched at all.This will be a Review in Progress. We have horse stables. With horse stables you have rats. We will NOT poison as it affects every other animal in the eco system, and I have seen the ravages of it on our local bobcat population and owls and its horrible. I had bought a live trap that originally worked -but apparently I now have a race of genius rats who have learned how to go in and eat and then exit. Much like a Las Vegas Buffet. I purchased these traps based on the reviews AND that I am terrified of trying to set those Wood board rat traps. I just got these traps yesterday and put them to use. I set out 12 traps , 6 in each barn. I put Peanut butter in the bait cup as instructed and put the bait station side of the trap near the wall as instructed. The instructions also say put on level surface. In a barn that is not necessarily always the case. Out of 12 traps last night we had a 50% catch rate, 40% trap sprung, no rat, peanut butter gone, and 10% (one trap) that the bait was eaten and the trap was not sprung. I just ordered 12 more.I will set out 12 again tonight, one in a different barn and see how we do.

The good: the trap worked as designed!(easy to set)made good! The bad: small area for food to put in (I used peanut butter) The Ugly: hard to desingage! I would recommend and you get six of them! Clint Eastwood would be impressed and hey go watch THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY! Ending: I would say what my friend says in pickleball when she misses a shot RATS!!! Have a nice day no more RATS...

Spring breaks or something and they won’t last one more than once! The spring won’t stay latched open so you can’t set these cheap poorly made traps! I’ve literally not caught any mice with this, and I can’t get the trap to stay in the open position no matter how many times I press it down wiggle it look underneath to see what’s broken. None of that and nothing’s no plastic is broken either there’s no reason why this stuff shouldn’t be latching and staying open.

They kill rats, but you'll be lucky to see 1 rat per trap. One month after delivery, 2 of the 6 traps remain capable of being set. The trigger mechanism is incapable of holding the bar on the other 4. Two rats died so far.

After 30 years with no vermin, one managed to chew through the aging mortar in our foundation wall which allowed more than a few -- first mice, then rats! -- into our basement. They did a lot of damage chewing wires throughout the house, as well as books, and almost any stored food items they could aggressively get to. We tried many natural ways to repel or live catch, and called many pest and wildlife control companies -- who proved over-priced and more interested in a long-term contract than solving the problem. The only way to do that is find and properly seal the point of entry and set traps to, sadly, catch and kill. It broke my heart that humane methods were not viable and our house was having thousands in damage done to the wiring they like to chew.I bought these traps out of desperation and frustration and am so glad they worked! I put a dab of peanut butter in the bait hole. The raised sides on the small well makes it harder for smart rodents to knock the bait out without springing the sensitive trap. I put them along a dark wall, behind other things as rats are smart and suspicious; but I kept them accessible to monitor and remove. Within two days I'd caught what turned out to be the last two rats we heard or saw evidence of. It no doubt helped that I had removed all accessible alternative foods from access (putting remaining ones we needed into hard plastic containers which many sites recommended as safer storage from rodents who can chew through a lot -- even concrete! -- but, evidently, not hard plastic). We had already had a basement foundation company send someone to seal the holes with spray caulk and copper mesh (also bought on Amazon but available at most hardware stores) before scraping down and re-parging/cement-plastering the weakened wall. I've held on to a few of the traps but hope we'll never need them. I also gave two to a friend and she said they worked very quickly to catch her small invaders. Every city and town has rats and mice -- my city has millions. They carry diseases and ruin homes making wiring into fire hazards or inoperable. I knew we had to seize the opportunity to get rid of them as quickly as possible! These traps were easy to set, and we could empty, clean, and re-use them (wearing disposable gloves to stay safe from any exposures). Or you coukd toss the whole trap but I'm somewhat obsessive about recycling and upcycling and not as squeamish as some about emptying the trap since I grew up in the country. Also, the very high price of having pros set and empty your traps is good motivation to do it on your own. Good luck solving your own invasion.

I pretty much agree with everything said in the other reviews here. I've been using these for a few months and have caught seven rats so far and a mouse. These rodent traps are extremely good at catching rats -- I've never had a rat trap go off without catching a rat. This is important because you don't want the rats to get trap-shy. I'm not convinced that the traditional type of snap trap is any better. In other respects, these traps have it all over the traditional wooden traps. They are very easy to set and never go off by accident while you're placing the traps. The bait cup is cleverly designed and well-positioned. Not only have I never had a trap go off without catching a rat, but I've also never had bait stolen. I get the impression that trap positioning has a lot to do with the way the rat ends up getting caught. With traditional trap positioning along walls, I don't think the rat is necessarily even after the bait in many cases -- it just happens to blunder into the trap as it's going about its business. Anyways these Rat Traps work for me.

I live in a rural setting. Feild mice and brown rats are a natural thing in the woods and fields here. I have only ever had the big eyed field mice see refuge in the shed, garage and occasionally the basement when it gets cold in winter. I have been a die hard fan of the old wooden traps for over 20 years; they are inexpensive, and effective. What drew me to the idea of these traps - I also purchased the full plastic that look like a big pac-man - is that they do not rust up, and they are easier to bait and set.Having used the wooden traps, the springs will get corroded from dampness of a cement floor in a matter of months. That makes the recoil a split second slower over the years, and eventually, it creates a gruesome death, rather than a quick one. I hate having to continually replace rusted traps. Also the way some of the animals will enter a trap, they will stick to the metal bar. The way this trap is set up, you avoid much of the ugly part of rodent killing: getting the dead critter out.The bait cup just swivels out. No trying to smear a little peanut butter(or super glue a cheerio, as dad does) to the bait clip. The cup comes out, stuff the best attractant in it, and swivel it back in. If ants clean it out, as has happened to me in the summer, you can leave the trap set, and take the bait cup out and fill it and put it back in. Wonderful! No pinched fingers while attempting a rebait!If you are worried about if this would kill the animal, rest assured that it will. Release dead critter, reset. The full plastic ones are even easier.The rats I am catching are NOT large city rats. These have a body if 6 inches or less. These are brown woods rats, not the city rats that are the size of a half grown possum. I will gladly answer any questions onbthe device.

To small for rats in London ... need redesigning.. found one rat in agony near trap.. all traps triggered and nothing....

Well made and plenty of snap. Many a rat has already given his life to these traps.

Problem neighbour created a problem for the neighbourhood. The efficient traps took care of that effectively and quickly. 5 stars

This was sold supposedly by a rhodent trap supplier listing the target as rat OR mouse. I later discovered kill-bar traps have to be size specific. I was sent rat traps. They looks like they would kill a rat but I have a mouse infestation. Normally I would return for a refund but I felt misled!

I set up all 5 traps in my garden and i returned to 3 of them in the triggered position, but the trap did not snap. And one of the was so poorly made it could not be set. Good idea, extremely poor execution.All 6 traps are now in the garbage. Go with the old fashioned traps and wear some gloves.
