A Great Intro to Financial Basics for Teens – Simple and Practical
I picked up Money Skills for Teens for my teenager, hoping to give them a solid foundation in real-world money management—and overall, it's a great starting point.Pros:Clear and easy to understand: The book breaks down financial concepts like budgeting, saving, credit, and taxes in a way that’s super accessible for teens.Relevant examples: Uses real-life situations teens can relate to, like earning from part-time jobs, spending wisely, and saving for big goals.Encourages smart habits: Emphasizes the importance of saving early, understanding needs vs. wants, and being mindful with money.Good conversation starter: Helped open up some great talks at home about money, responsibility, and planning for the future.Cons:Basic overview: It’s more of a broad introduction than an in-depth guide. Great for beginners, but older teens or financially-savvy readers might find it too simple.Could use more visuals: Charts, diagrams, or budgeting templates would’ve made it even more engaging.Overall, this is a solid, no-nonsense guide for teens who are just starting to learn about personal finance.Great gift for a high schooler or anyone new to money management.

American book.
Annoyingly this book is based on the American system of finance and the monetary units are written about in dollars.

I Wasn’t Taught This, So I’m Making Sure My Kids Are
I bought this for both of my teenagers, but especially my son. He’ll eventually inherit a modest trust from injuries he survived during the Tubbs Fire, and that reality has made financial literacy feel a lot more immediate in our house. What I needed was something that didn’t overcomplicate things or talk down to him. This does a good job of walking through the basics in plain language. The explanation of gross versus net pay is a good example. It’s simple, but it’s the kind of thing people nod along to without really understanding until it shows up on their own paycheck. The tone feels right for teens. Not childish, not overly polished. Just clear enough that they can follow it without checking out halfway through. It’s not trying to do everything. It gives them a place to start, which is honestly the part most of us never got.I’d rather he learn this now, while the stakes are still low, than later when the decisions carry more weight. Money is one of those things people assume you’ll figure out, until you don’t.This helped me feel like I’m at least pointing both of my kids in the right direction.

Great life skills for anyone
This comprehensive guide with a workbook built inside, is about money skills that every teen needs to push them forward into life. Each section within the chapters is easy to read and understand with ease as well written so any young person can learn to apply to their life as they reach adulthood. The author goes into life skills with money from opening up an bank account to paying your bills, skills that schools don’t really teach our teens. I wish I had a book like this when I was a teen, it may have helped me to become a better young adult. I recommend this book to anyone who will need those life skills to provide what they need for the future.
