Installation does require an electrician, but it’s pretty straightforward. Once it’s in, it just works. This is the second time I've bought this same charger. First one is still working (a year later). This thing is the real frickin' deal. You'll need 6AWG wire, a 60A breaker (and an electrician) and some conduit/EMT. The wire and breaker will cost another $250-300, if you're going about 50 feet from the box. This can be installed out in the elements. The 24 foot cable is fantastic. The amperage setting will vary, from 12A-48A (though not sure why you would charge at 12A). It can add about 44 miles of range per hour to your Tesla. The Tesla app will control this, will set charging schedules (I do not allow this to charge during peak pricing from the utility). This has a built in GFCI, so you won't zap yourself in the wet weather. I do not have these vehicles, but there was an update in late 2025 on this unit so you can use to charge an F150 Lightning or Rivian. It's also got a 4 year warranty. I chose to buy from Amazon (through Tesla) vs. other bidding sites (where this is cheaper) so I would have a warranty and not an open box/refurb where the warranty may not apply. Didn't seem worth it to save $80. Some people complain about wifi issues. I've never had a single issue. I have bought one...now two of these. They're great!

The charger arrived VERY quickly. Well packaged and after a few videos, install was easy. Companies wanted to charge me over $500 to install. I did it myself after a few videos and treading very cautiously with higher voltage. Bought 20ft of the 6-2 Romex from Home Depot along with with a 2-pole 60amp breaker. I didn’t want the charger mounted permanently on a wall in or outside of my garage. So I built a custom moveable charger with 20 foot leash. I can move it all around my external garage or move it outside of the garage if I need the room. With the 20ft cable and the 18ft of testa cable, it is very mobile. Connecting the charging unit to WiFi took a while with all the “loading” and it is a good distance from my router. Once connected, I can view charging status and a bunch of other info. I am charging my Tesla now at 41-44miles per hour of charge.

Charging at home is a great convenience, and the device (plus installation) will pay for itself by paying home electric rates instead of public charger rates. The only issue was the initial setup with the Tesla app, which did not work efficiently and took several tries.

I have ordered this item for my new car, which arrived on the day after my return deadline. To find out this charger is only compatible in the USA. I’m not living in the UK and completely stuck with this item.. I’m really not sure why which item is available in the UK Amazon store if this is not a compatible item with UK EVs (Tesla) and I’m not £400+ down the drain and cannot return the device. Completely out of pocket and stuck with this item! This item should be removed from the UK Amazon store to prevent further issues.
