Q: Does the ceramic heat exchanger need cleaning? if so, is it easily removable & cleaned?

I purchased this for a tenant that complained about mould in his room. The installation was easy. It is too early to tell if it made an improvement as the weather has gone slightly warmer. I read in some place that you need to clean the filter every two years
