Q: very comfortable but how hard wearing is the sole? Shoe will almost entirely be for (fast) walking (not hiking/treking) or for gym work outs.

I now have three pairs of these shoes. I found the first pair so comfortable that I wanted to wear them all the time, hence buying a couple of other colours. I bought the first pair near the start of a 6 week tour of Scotland, and rarely wore anything else for the rest of the holiday. We did a lot of walking - they remained comfortable and there are few signs of wear. Although they are trail running shoes, I would choose something more substantial for hiking, but for city walking they are great.
