Fine strings with a metal like tone
I love these strings. They came fitted on my Taylor 12eN and in this way I grew to like them. I have been playing and changing strings since I was 7 and Im now in my 50s so think Ive got a good grasp of it by now, both nylon and metal, and wanted a cross over nylon string guitar which for me is the 12eN for mainly folk, finger style material and these strings are part of the package for that sound in my opinion. The carbon strings I feel give a very cross over sound and feel good if your used to playing metal strings. They still have a lovely smooth nylon response and tone, but if played right can sound in a different class all of their own. They lend my own songs a style which Im glad seems to be individual, not too classical sounding, yet not too harsh as some metal strings can be, an in-between.Ive just fitted a set to the Taylor, and this is the first change it has had since new. Reading a previous review, Im hoping that a string doesn't break soon, but will update if I find this. I have played on the previous set the guitar came with now for about 8 months till I thought they was sounding dull and needed replacing. I have at times a very hard finger playing style with my nails (no plectrum though, as some people do with nylons these days), and can say that Ive not had any problems at all with snapping etc, so fingers crossed. On fitting I found that the top 2 strings (top B&E), needed 3 loops to hold them at the bridge end, as when tension was turned up the knot would come out.Update.Been on over a week now with no issues at all. Keeping full tension, playing on them hard and sounding a dream. I think because of the high tension of these strings, and the thinness of say the top E string, it’s best to go careful with them when bringing them up to full tension for a while. I have been very cautious with this set, and brought up to standard tuning very very slowly to avoid snapping as mentioned by other reviews, but I’d still rather fit these than other strings.

String snapped
First string kept de-tuning when trying to tune up. When correctly tuned it snapped. After contacting D'addario they are sending me replacement sets. Also i have now got used to these strings and they are actually louder , brighter and have more projection than my old EJ46 sttrings.

Good tone and feel will probably buy again
I have not tried so called carbon strings before. The name suggests that they are made of carbon fibre but this is not the case, they are made of a fluorocarbon polymer. They have a clear sound and its easy to hear the separate voices when more than one note is played together. The strings have settled in quickly and do not need much retuning each time I play. I don't quite know why but the strings have a good feel and seem a bit easier to play than my previous strings although I can't see why that should be.

Like a new bright guitar
These strings are imho brilliant, I had been using nylon strings for years, since the 60's so to find these carbon strings for my local luthier built classical guitar was a revelation, I took note of the other folks experience with the high E breaking on bringing up to pitch and took my time to tune it up.Even with my poor hearing I can tell the difference, happiness is a set of new string with bells on with these carbon strings.I had purchased a second concert classical guitar from Niel Ta in Australia, he advised me to stck with the carbon strings on my new guitar, I did plus upgraded my 87 luthier built existing guitar, I will certainly be staying with these strings in the future

Extremely bad strings, better avoid.
Awful strings. I don't understand good reviews for them. First string has got blown and shot off at the bridge after 1 HOUR they'be benn installed. I've never had this with a fresh strings before. And when I tried to get the string from a peg to put it in a bridge again, I found that the string has got corrupted somehow inside a peg, so I could not fix the accident. Quality is low. And< the third string IS NOT CARBON. It's milky and seems to be a regular nylon. It does sound dull compared to 1 and 2. 1 and 2 are super bright with a lot of high frequencies, but they don't have a resonance. Just an empty screamy sound. I've tried 3 Dadario strings, XTC44, EJ45, EJ45FF, they are all horrible, will never buy Dadario again, total scam.

A pleasure to play with.
As an amateur player it's difficult to choose the right strings without the pro' knowledge, but I'm very pleased with these. Nice sound and seem to stay in tune (use my iPad to tune them, much better than my ears!). Would definitely buy them again.
