Hunter Downtown, Outdoor or Indoor, Ceiling Fan, 60 inch, Matte Black

So far so good, just got the fans installed today and I am very satisfied with the look and performance. Installation was "almost" straight forward, but for the most part like hanging any ceiling fan, if you are a handy person and can follow instructions, no problem. I ordered these fans for an outdoor application to replace some aging fans, the down rods in the pictures are 12 inches and are not included, I ordered them at the same time and installation was a breeze. Now for the dirty details, the fans have no pull chain, they are controlled by a wall switch (pictured) that uses the hot wire to power on and off, and a remote transmitter for speed and direction. My old fans had pull chains and hot all the time so some rewiring was in order to use the switch, if you currently have a wall switch for a fan, no problem. The fans I ordered have no light, but light buttons are included on the switch, not a problem other than it makes the switch look busy, three extra buttons that are not needed for my application. So far I am very happy with how well they move the air, and that they are so quiet and do no wobble at all, only time will tell how well they last.

Had this install on our patio with a 72" down rod to replace a normal 50" fan that just wasn't moving enough air on the patio. This seems to be doing the trick. Haven't fully enjoyed it on a hot day yet as it's now cooling off, but it looks great, moves a lot of air, and the wall control is easy to use. Two thumbs up at this point.

**A note about the wall controller** I had read some reviews saying that this fan comes with a wall controller that has to be wired into the homes electrical and it's not clearly explained why. This is partially true. The wall controller takes batteries, this is how it turns the fan off and on and controls speed. It's truly a wireless remote and the fan has a built in receiver. The remote has a single black wire and a ground. the single black wire is so the button/switch on the controller can cut power to the fan completely, and ground is just ground. Think of it like a toaster plugged in and it's turned off. You can pull the plug from the wall to completely cut power. If you have a single light switch for the receptacle that the fan will be wired into, you do not have to wire the controller in to the wiring if you so desire. It will work as a wireless remote. I installed this fan in an un-finished garage and simply mounted the controller in a new receptacle box conveniently wherever I wanted, up high and out of reach from curious children. Love the fan! Moves a ton of air, easy to install, looks great, and instructions are almost great, but still good. It just doesn't explain why the single wire is used in the first place and would have been much clearer if Hunter explained it better.

We were looking for a larger outdoor fan and this does the trick. Moves a ton of air which helps with the mosquitos too! Didn't come with a light or light kit so make sure you have ample lighting another way.

I bought two of these for my pergola. They constantly lose the pairing between the wall control and the transmitter. It also sometimes fails to start even when correctly paired. I had an electrician come by and he said that it's definitely the transmitters because he was getting a perfect power reading from the wiring. I contacted Hunter support and they had me do a couple of steps but the issue was not resolved. When I told them the stuff did not work they stopped responding. It seems like it will be very hard to get them to fulfill the warranty.

I added the Hunter 51592 Downtown Ceiling Fan (72 inches, Matte Black) to my back patio, and it looks fantastic. Installation was easy and straightforward. This fan is a must-have for anyone with a patio entertainment area, especially in the South where the heat can be intense. It provides excellent airflow, making it comfortable to relax outside after a long day working in the yard. Highly recommend!
