Ring Battery Doorbell Plus, Home or business security, Head-to-Toe HD+ Video, motion detection & alerts, and Two-Way Talk

Bought this because my old one went out. I'm a very big firm person on using the ring brand. This definitely has a better quality when looking out on the camera. It gives a fishbowl effect so it gives a wider view but doesn't make anything look awkward. It doesn't always pick up everything I don't know if it's the setting or the product itself. But there's been times when I needed it to record something and it either picked up right before or right after or quit recording in the middle of it. We have a shelter over our porch but it does still get rain and sun as if it wasn't covered and it holds up pretty well. It connects through the Wi-Fi pretty well but if there's a bad connection it lags some. We have it just screwed in screwed into the wall panel beside the door and have to charge our batteries. The battery is hold up pretty well if there's not a lot of motion going on, when there's motion consistently the battery tends to die faster.

I have good number of cameras, doorbells, and alexa devices all configured and paired together. I bought this doorbell to upgrade my front door. Wow is it nice!! I really can see the difference in verticle resolution.These have a lot of great options and features that really give you good control over your devices with a few major cons that really are hard to overlook and should cost a few stars.Pros. Great alerts, great video quality for just 1080p, range, and night vision. I can have it setup so if my front door gets motion alert, all the flood lights and cameras that can see that area light up and record. You can share with family members and determine what cameras they can see and which they cannot. I.E. we have a bedroom cam for our rottweiler puppy that has a large crate we can see right into during these early training months. I'd rather not having my teenage kids seeing into my bedroom but them getting motion alerts for the doors is awesome.Cons. Local storage is blocked behind a paywall. I literally bought a 512gb microsd card and found out when I couldn't find where to enable that you have to not just pay more than what I was before with one camera, but you have to move up to their most expensive 20 dollar a month plan!!! What... The...heck Ring!??! I'm reading also that even after you do this, you can't use both cloud AND local storage.. This is double dumb and downright either HORRENDOUS design by the developers or just intentional extortion via nickel and diming of their already paying customers.I'm a 25+ year IT professional. In EVERY camera system or data suite you care about, local and cloud storage together IS the bee's knees. It should be available on cloud no matter what in case of fire/ring alarm theft and local storage used for faster replaying of recent events up to the amount of data your SD card can hold.Rather than giving in and paying, I returned the SD card and said screw it. I previously was paying about 3.99 a month for my single ring camera. I got tired of maintaining my local IP camera setup and needing a vm (virtual machine) running to record and eating up storage on my NAS to save it all. I was stoked when I saw the local storage. I dropped over 500 bucks on doorbell cams for back and side doors, flood light cams, and interior cameras to ensure our pets left home are fine and being checked on when we go on longer trips. I was OK moving up to 10 dollars a month for all that I get. Adding another 10 on top for something that costs RING NOTHING for me to use. is unacceptable. This is just a money-grabbing paywall and it needs to stop.Lastly, the biggest operational con besides this is the poor integration with Alexa for scheduling camera functions. I.E. I do like getting driveway alerts via the alexa when motion is detected because its a blind spot inside my house. One window on the back side of the house can see the driveway due to garage location. I set a schedule or snooze it to not give motion alerts if I'm having people over and it completely ignores this schedule and gives endless motion alerts via the alexa devices. Stupid annoying and it seems people have been complaining about this on the forum since 2018.

Update: 8-19-24. Ring saw my earlier post & called me offering any assistance to make my purchase better. They were fantastic. They helped me with some settings & even answered questions i had that wasn't part of post. I now have a fantastic signal & everything is being recognized. They changed my settings on my chime pro & the signal has greatly improved. Upgrading my router was not a waste considering the excellent signal im getting and the fact im trying to make my home a "smart home". Ring tech customer service really pulled through & was awesome. They are even going to call me back today to make sure issues were resolved. Excellent customer service.Original post:router was an older model & ring wouldn't give me a good signal & work properly. So I bought the Chime Pro with wifi extender which did not help at all. But it is a nice doorbell. So then I had to buy a new router (which wasn't cheap) and signal got better. It seems as though there is a lag when it & if it picks up motion or person & if they are moving fast, it may not register at all. I'm hoping it is just me trying to learn all the settings. I do know that I've put out alot of money to get this ring battery doorbell plus to work. When it does work, it's pretty good but I'm still reviewing its performance. It's only been 2 1/2 weeks so I may update this later. So far I'm not sure the product was worth all the money I've put out. That being said, my new router was only needed to get the doorbell to work. The Ring, Chime & router was expensive just to have a security doorbell that's not always picking up person/motion. I'll keep tweaking it. Not ready to totally count it out yet.

Overall I am pleased with this device, but it has some flaws. It shows a nice wide angle view of my front door area. The previous version of this would not show if a package had been delivered, but showed people coming to our door and cars in our driveway. The new version is much improved both in terms of higher definition as well as greater field of view. We had some trouble getting it to link with our Alexa devices to give us proximity warnings, but finally got it to work. One irritation however, it gives a doorbell like ring before each announcement of someone being at our door. After having it a while, we notified that it is a different sound than if someone had rung the doorbell. It seems like we should be able to disable the tone but keep the announcement, but can't figure out how to do that.

I had an older ring that stopped working so I upgraded to this one. The wide view is great, picture quality looks good, even at night. It’s not perfect at night but you’re at least able to see.My issue is that this did not come with a flat bracket, just a corner wedge which I installed and it doesn’t catch the entire porch. So now I have to look for a flat bracket to put this one.The cover was hard to get off I’m assuming because it’s brand new but now I realized you have to push up the cover comes right off. It installed with no issues and the ring app connected to it right away.Even though I setup my zones, it doesn’t record once someone is in the zone, it records when they’re pretty close to the camera which kind of sucks, what’s the point of zones?Besides all that it still gets 4 stars and it works as designed.The night picture you see is with no lights on.

I received and installed this unit in early December, 2023. I decided to wait until the battery needed to be charged before writing a review. Today is April 10, 2024 and the unit is still working and I've not had to charge it. To me, that's GREAT BATTERY LIFE! I usually have about 6 to 10 motion notifications a day. (I cause most of those myself). My unit is mounted on the front of my garage and it functions as a security camera rather than as a doorbell.I didn't take the monthly plan and therefore, I only get a message that there's motion detected at the doorbell. However, if I immediately check the doorbell history there will be a photo of what caused the motion. Occasionally, I see the neighbor's cat crossing in front of my garage about 15 feet out. It picks me up in front of my truck about 20 to 21 feet away. Now and then, a deer rounds the corner of my garage, and it picks it up too. It doesn't hold the images very long but you can see what's there if you look right away. I don't have any trouble identifying what's out there. Since I don't pay the monthly fee, for me that's not too bad!The doorbell unit is located more than 110 feet from my computer system and cell phone inside my home. The signal seems to me to be very good. My garage is well-lighted and is bright in the front, so I can't say how good the unit is with night vision.Maybe I will update this message when the battery runs down. Update: June 19, 2024: The battery charge indicator showed it was almost completely discharged. The unit has been working flawlessly. I removed the battery and charged it today. Hope this helps.

I absolutely love my Ring doorbell! It gives me so much peace of mind and helps me feel safer and more comfortable in my home. The picture quality is always super clear, and the two-way talk feature is also very clear and easy to use. I love being able to check in on things whenever I need to. Definitely worth having for the extra sense of security!

I purchased this camera after an incident at my place. I've mounted the camera using a compatible bracket on the front door. So far, so good. What I didn't realise though is you need to purchase a plan to store video footage and use features like doorbell calls to your phone. I didn't even realise there was this feature as the instructions never mentioned it. I got a bit of a fright when a chime went off very loudly on my phone as someone was at my door. They do give you a month free subscription from date of purchase with these features which I didn't notice at first either. Check their website first to see what features you want and what plan is best. I didn't do that, when I should've done so. Although I wound up purchasing the standard plan subscription which works out cheaper to pay annually. So this is a great camera, but if you don't purchase a plan it's only as good as seeing who is at the door. The incident I had the police wanted video footage, so you're best to get a plan with it.

I previously was using (without) issue the standard Ring Battery Video Doorbell (in copper colour); and bought the Battery Video Doorbell Plus when it went on sale during Prime Day.It has been a game changer, and is better in almost every way:1. The Field of View is SIGNIFICANTLY greater.I live a top a flight of stairs, and often when I had deliveries, I previously couldn’t view or be alerted of deliveries because the camera view of the standard Ring Doorbell didn’t reach the floor.The Video Doorbell Plus solves that problem as the field of view reaches from the floor to the roof. Maybe an extra 30 or 40 degrees improvement in field of view vertically. My floor to ceiling height is around 2.5m.Lateral field of view seems similar.2. Removable battery is a game changer.Having to remove the whole unit to charge for 8 hours with the standard Video Doorbell is a real inconvenience. Being able to just switch out the removable battery in the Doorbell Plus so there is no down time, is significantly more convenient.The battery still uses a micro-USB to charge. Don’t know why Ring isn’t using USB C by now (cable is included though)3. Less lag when going to Live View.I found with the standard Ring Battery Video Doorbell, it took up to 30secs to go to Live View when someone was at my door (usually around 15 to 20secs). By the time I connected the person or deliverer was gone. The Doorbell Plus allows me to connect to Live View in 1/2 to 1/3 of the time previously (5 to 10 secs usually). Significantly less frustrating.I don’t know whether the removable battery will last as long as the internal battery of the standard Video Doorbell. If there is significant decrease I will update my review.I liked the copper colour of the previous standard Doorbell (matches brickwork better), but I can buy removable faceplates I think.Overall, the Video Doorbell Plus is better, more convenient and functional, than the standard Ring Battery Video Doorbell, in almost every way.When on sale during Prime Day (with 40% off), the price of the two were almost similar. I can’t recommend the standard Doorbell if you can afford or can get the Plus version on discount. It’s better and less frustrating to use in every single way.

Works like a charm, easy install

It was easy to install and get working. The product works well and has a great viewing angle for both people and parcels. It has gone offline once for no reason; however, I can live with that if it's only once. One improvement would be to fix the geofence bugs. It doesn't work consistently and notifies me that I am at the door when I am leaving the house, which is annoying. I have mine hooked up to Chime Pro and have subscribed to the Protect plan. I would buy it again.

Once it’s up and running, the motion alerts are reliable and the notifications come through fast, so I always know what’s happening at the door.Two small things worth mentioning:Because it’s battery powered, I had to think about where to mount it so the signal stays strong and battery life stays good. Mine holds charge well, but if you get a lot of alerts it uses more power.Some features in the app, like advanced motion zones, take a little time to dial in just right. Once set, though, it works smoothly.Overall this Ring doorbell feels reliable, with very good video quality and easy install. Great choice if you want a solid wireless video doorbell that’s simple to set up and keeps you connected to what’s happening at home.
