4 not 5 stars b/c WE ALL HATE HP for sucking us into their printers and screwing us with their overpriced ink cartridges. We all know bargain and refill cartridges are a dice-roll. I currently have a DESKJET F4280. I used my first black ink 60xl and am WOWED by how much capacity it has, COMPARITIVELY, to the regular 60 - which SUCKS. I'm a grad student/adjunct teacher. I print constantly. This semester, for the first time, I wasn't running out of ink for lectures the morning of and having to rush to school in order to print in the labs. I teach 2 courses, printing roughly 8-15 pages (usually 1.5 spacing TNR 12pt) 2-3 times/weekly minimum; and have printed many articles, maybe a couple dozen, all at "Fast draft black & white" - the lowest ink-usage setting. That setting does the job and the cartridge lasted through the semester, just dying the day I turned in my grades! With the regular capacity cartridges with this printer and my old super-cheap HP printer I was running out of ink every two weeks unless I structured my life around printing at school. Bottom line: costs more, but its worth every penny - if you print b&w non-quality docs regularly.

Never mind those printer ink cartridge knock offs. They aren't cheap if your printer says it's incompatible and flat out refuses to function at all. I had three different kinds of error messages with the knock offs, to the point where I thought the printer was toast. I needed a portable printer anyway, so bought another printer from Amazon, which, because I had Prime, arrived the next day, and was incredibly inexpensive on sale, for heavens sake. Next day after that, my HP cartridge arrived and the HP printer, properly chastened, performed immediately. Now I need to order up the combo color and black, just to have spare HP cartridges on hand. I love HP cartridges, you never need to worry about print quality or printer sending protests and caution signs to printer file, or not be able to get a reading on supply or amount of ink remaining. We had the same thing happen with my husband's printer, so we now know to use the genuine HP article....or else. :-)

These HP 60 black in cartidges are quite expensive, but the ink provides very clear images. I tried buying cheaper versions of this cartridge by other companies and none of them worked well, and one of them damaged my printer. Do not buy the cheap substitutes, get the real thing.

Was a bit concerned seeing the packaging which is slightly different than the genuine products’ purchased in the past. Installed it and the printer stated that a genuine cartridge was installed. Will monitor the usage though

I appreciate the availability of the product; however, I don't think changing the product code justifies a 50% increase in price.

Good value and quality One cartridge doesnt work (first I tried), not recognized by printer, probably the chip inside as per google search and HP support. Amazon very helpful to solve the issue. Took me some time to go through all details , now beside cartridges have few IT skills as well.
