OutIn Nano Portable Electric Espresso Machine, Travel Coffee Maker

LIFESAVER!!! I bought my Nano with camping in mind. Haven’t gone camping yet, but I did take a trip to NYC soon followed by having foot reconstruction surgery. NYC: Caught a TSA agent’s eye in my carry-on bag. Did they think it was a bomb? I dunno. LOL Our cheap hotel room didn’t have a coffeemaker, so I brought it along with some Nespresso capsules just in case I couldn’t get coffee due to my injured foot’s pain. Good choice! We had coffee every morning thanks to my Nano. Post Surgery: I’m not supposed to put any weight on my foot for 6 weeks, so how do I satisfy my coffee cravings without inconveniencing my daughter? Nano to the rescue! I keep it & several boxes of capsules next to my bed & brew up whenever I want. How cool is that?! Nano has been a true lifesaver. Pros far outweigh the cons. Pros: Brews well, convenient, packable size, portable, cup included, easy to use, instructions on the machine, uses Nespresso capsules. Cons: Messy after brewing, doesn’t always brew when water is at max level. Overall it’s a great machine that can serve many situations when portability is important.

Works as described. It'll heat your cold water and make the shot, or you can heat the water before and just make the shot. The downside is that using a Nespresso OE type pod, or the tiny 6g included portafilter, the water flows through quickly and makes a thin watery coffee. The pump motor is very powerful. But that is not the fault of the machine, it's the fault of trying to make good espresso with a tiny amount of coffee. The result from using a pod is the same as if you used a Nespresso machine, which is actually not that bad at all. If you use restraint and add less than 20ml (or less than 15ml) of water, you'll get a better shot, albeit a tiny one. You can tap the button mid-shot to stop the pump too, so just stop it when the shot looks right. The other downside is that it is relatively big and heavy. Almost certainly not for minimalist backpackers. Car or motorcycle campers and hotel travelers are the target market. The best thing to do with this machine if you want serious espresso is to also buy the Nano Basket Plus. It's an 18gr stainless portafilter add-on that you fill with good coffee properly (very finely) ground & tamped that will produce a pro-level awe-inspiring shot. That combination will absolutely replace a $2000+ Italian espresso machine on your counter. But for a very portable machine for the office or travel, this paired with good quality Nespresso pods is a major step up from hotel room coffee, or having to stumble down to the coffee shop in the hotel lobby in your PJs and slippers to get your morning fix. That is my use for it- hotel room use when I travel. Fill it with water before I go to sleep, stick a pod in there and leave it on the night stand. When I wake up, press and hold the button for a few seconds, it'll heat the water and dispense the shot into the included cup in a little over 3 minutes. Caffeinated before I even get out of bed. If you go the Nespresso compatible OE pod route, I strongly recommend the Starbucks brand. That part of the company is owned by Nestle (who owns Nespresso) so the pods are real-deal, but they have good fresh coffee in them. Honestly, the hassle of grinding coffee to make a 6gr shot is not worth it, just use the pods. The coffee only touches the lower parts that screw off, so clean up is just a quick rinse. It's mostly plastic but it seems like high grade durable plastic that'll take some abuse. There is nothing about this coffee maker that seems cheap, lightweight or under-engineered. To the contrary actually, it's heavy duty and well made. Like all battery powered tools, the battery is a wear component of this device and when the battery dies, your coffee maker dies. Unless iFixIt comes up with a tutorial on how to replace the battery. Hopefully it's a really good quality battery that will last years.

I have *never* written a product review before, and this espresso machine inspired me! I absolutely love it and use it daily (purchased two months ago, April 2026). No mess (pods), I rinse with water and I’m pretty much done. It’s light enough to carry easily — while still feeling substantial enough to be a real piece of equipment. Works reliably. You’ll get 3-4 shots on a charge, which works for me. I tend to plug it in after 2 shots. Totally fine for how I use it. Quiet! The espresso machines I’ve worked with in the past could vibrate the room. I wanted something I could take to the office and not feel invasive with. It’s not a silent machine per se, but definitely not bad at all. I’m not an espresso snob by any means, but I *honestly* prefer the iced lattes I make at home over the coffee shop now. I took it on a trip to NYC and made espresso for strangers, made a latte for the person who was hosting me. Community through caffeine! And it’s cost effective. The machine itself is reasonably priced compared to other espresso makers, of course. But more importantly, instead of a $7 shot of espresso and almond milk at my coffee shop (fine for a treat, but hurts on a daily basis), I can make an iced latte that I love for $1-2. I can’t say enough good things.

Alright. I'm a lifelong espresso drinker. Every morning. I make my morning latte every day. Someone gave me a Vienna Plus espresso machine and it's saved my life and pocket book. The biggest problem I've had is when I go camping. I'd been doing those iced coffee Starbucks packets, but they were always so sweet and don't hit the mark for me. On my camping/road trips I spent too much of my budget just making sure I'm caffeinated. And now I'm not giving my money to Starbucks (union busting my friends in Seattle) so I looked for other options. I thought about upgrading my solar battery to a larger output so I could bring my Vienna Plus espresso machine, but that's ridiculous and big, and also expensive to upgrade to a high enough output. But I was tempted. Then someone mentioned this Outin compact espresso machine on their outdoorsy YouTube channel. (Modern Self Reliance) I don't think he was sponsored by them, but just wanted to give a review. I put it in my mind bank because it was $140 at the time. Honestly still a reasonable price with the results I have. But then it was on sale for Prime Day at $111. I thought I'd give it a shot (pun intended). They take returns if I don't like it. Let me tell ya. I was actually shocked. It might pull better shots than my Saeco Vienna Plus. And the espresso has a more sweet balance, which I like. Positives. Awesome shots, portable, charges fairly fast, but I recommend charging the night before if you have coffee dysfunction in the morning. It will use most of the battery for 3 shots. Works really well for iced latte. Negatives. Takes quite a while to heat up between shots (you can preheat the water to shorten this time). You need to watch out when you unload the spent coffee for the next shot because it can be really hot. The set up was confusing per the instructions and I needed to go to YouTube. There was a random piece that didn't seem to be needed and maybe I'll figure that out later. It says it takes Nespresso pods, but I absolutely could not figure out how to fit them in the space nor how it was supposed to puncture the pod, so I just cut open the pod and tamped the espresso directly in the device. At that point I may as well just buy pre-ground espresso for cheaper. Lesson learned. The instructions and pieces need to be color coded because all I can see in the pictures are "put this thing in this black cylindrical piece". Which is almost all of the pieces! Maybe it was my eyesight. Maybe it was my lack of having had coffee. But I can imagine someone with a disability finding this confusing. [Update: When I was fully caffeinated I realized the extra piece was the slot for the pods. D'oh! See, this is why they should be color coded. But crisis averted for the rest of the trip. Which went great except for one particularly cold morning and the water was too cold to heat up the 3 double shots I was pulling. Pre heating the water is a good idea if you can.] Overall, despite those negatives, I recommend this device for those who have roughed it when going camping and hate that part of camping without a comforting espresso. It's a nice little luxury amongst bugs and the 100°+ weather at Lake Siskiyou that we are being cursed with. Dare I say I might even be tempted to use this at home as well. Maybe. It does take a lot longer. But I really like the flavor of the shots. Highly impressed!

I have been using the outin nano as my daily espresso machine for ~ 6 months now, and it has become one of my favorite products across all of the things that I own. I have extensively used both the included nespresso adapter and the nano basket plus (separate accessory). For ~$200 with accessories, this little machine makes exceptional coffee that stands up as a daily driver. The nano basket makes a significantly better shot than nespresso pods, but the pods are hard to beat for convenience. The basket does require attention to grind size and mass of coffee for consistent results. Also, and unsurprisingly, there is no shot pressure control, so grind size, mass, and amount of water used are the only variables available to adjust your extraction. If you don't yet have a grinder you like, I've found that ~17.5g of Illy's classic espresso grind or decaf is a good place to start. I have not used the included espresso basket as it is significantly smaller than the nano basket and has too many plastic components for my comfort. Beyond making a solid cup of espresso, this unit really shines in it's portability- it can be tossed in a bag for car camping, road trips, or hotel stays. It is sheer luxury to be able to get back to a hotel or AirBnB late or wake up early to dependably delicious coffee. Also, for those who are nomadic, it is liberating to be able to stick your espresso setup in a bag as you move from one location to the next. More amazing, in a pinch, espresso can be made completely on battery power (as opposed to using a kettle to boil the water first), though this uses up battery life fast. I also purchased outin's stand, which seems expensive at $40, but is well built and so far sturdy enough to stand up to daily use. Also, it is surprisingly helpful, and I would not want to go back to not having it. The chief one is that if you plan to make multiple shots of espresso back to back, the metal basket gets quite hot / somewhat challenging to empty and refill. I am hopeful that they will make it possible to buy multiple baskets without needing to buy a full kit to make this issue go away. Also, my first outin broke after ~ a month from what was likely a manufacturing defect. However, Outin responded quickly to my support request and sent me a replacement unit with very little back and forth. The replacement has worked flawlessly since. Overall, I have really enjoyed my outin nano and recommend it highly.

More than impressed. Once you dial in your beans grinder settings, you will get nice cream expresso out of this. This is the best it gets for a portable option. Im using Bustelo beans for cortaditos and coladas. I highly recommend the basket kit for a true expresso and double shot.

Great product in many ways. If you put the scooper in the water compartment and power cord in the large plastic cup you can fit everything in for easy travel. The first one I ordered I thought was defective. It wouldn't completely use all the water. More like half. So I had to run it twice as much to get the same amount of espresso. Which wouldn't have been a big deal except the battery needs a lot of charging. It's a struggle to make one double shot espresso and impossible to make two without having to wait for recharge. I think part of the issue is I'm at an elevation of about 6,500 ft. One time when I was at a lower elevation the issue was not as prevalent, but still there a little bit. Considering I need it at this elevation I have to return the second one back. It is still defective as a product in general unless you advertise it to work only up to a certain elevation.

Waited a few months and a few trips to write the review for this. Easy to use! I admittedly have only used espresso pods but I dont camp and didnt want to carry around a method to grind beans so espresso pods it is. The issue that I am having with this is that sometimes the device cuts off mid brew even when it is fully charged. I bring this with me when I travel for work so it's not inconvenient to keep this charged. But its cut off mid-process at least 3 times. Twice when I used the heating element and once when I didn't have to use the heating element. It just happened this morning. I used hot water and it started but only got through about half of the water in the chamber. I double press it again and then it finished brewing. I then went to plug it in to see if it needed to be charged and nope. All 4 little lights were lit up. Dont know if my unit is just faulty sometimes but I like the tool. Found some espresso pods through trial and error that I like. Add a splash of creamer or oatmilk and I have an enjoyable espresso. I like buying beans whole so I may attempt to find something easy to travel with to grind beans, but for now, just using pods. Not sure how long this will last with the ins and outs but or the 3 months I have had it its been mostly problem free. Recommend, but test out consistenly before that return window closes in case you have issues!

Vous cherchez une machine à expresso compacte, nomade et performante? Cette machine Outin Nano est clairement une option intéressante. Offerte pour mon mari VTC, il l’a depuis plusieurs semaines au travail, et voilà ses impressions. Contexte & usage : Il travail en voiture, donc j’avais besoin d’un accessoire qui me permette de me faire un bon café sans dépendre d’une machine qui prend de la place. Cette “machine à expresso portable” est annoncée comme chauffant rapidement, pesant seulement ~670 g. Je l’ai testée avec des capsules Nespresso. Points positifs : • Elle est vraiment légère (≈ 670 g), donc facile à déplacer • Elle chauffe rapidement : elle monte à ~92°C pour ~50 ml d’eau en ~200 secondes. • Compatibilité intéressante : café moulu et capsules. Ce qui donne de la flexibilité. • Le design est joli, finition métal/ABS/acier inoxydable, ce qui donne une impression “qualité”. À noter / limites : • L’autonomie batterie peut être limitée si vous utilisez de l’eau pas chaude: pour mon cas (espresso) j’en ai pour environ 4-5 tasses • Le réservoir est assez petit (~50 ml) donc pour des tasses longues ou des usages intensifs, il peut sembler juste. • Le prix est plus élevé que les machines filaires classiques, mais c’est le prix de la mobilité. Conclusion : Si vous voyagez, utilisez souvent un café à l’extérieur ou avez besoin d’une solution compacte pour le bureau, cette machine portable Outin Nano est un bon choix. Elle combine praticité, puissance et finitions soignées. Si vous faites principalement des cafés “normaux” chez vous, vous pouvez peut-être opter pour une machine plus simple et moins chère.

Nice Machine, bit bulky but does the Job. Though coffee output is not enough as the cup is small. Landed using the Coffee Pods, as they are strong well packed and easy to use. Good for travelling in the car/ Train or Plane. if you have the space.

This machine is better than I’ve anticipated. It gives perfect espresso’s anywhere from car to outdoors. Heavy solid quality feel, easy to use. I absolutely love it. If there would be a minus: it has ‘only’ capacity for 3 maybe 4 cups when heating. It’s not really a minus but a logical consequence for being so small and portable. But when you are able to fill it with hot water it has plenty more capacity. A cool, handy and pretty machine I didn’t know I needed so badly. Now I’m hooked.
