Nikwax Hardshell Cleaning & Waterproofing Duo-Pack

This stuff works brilliantly if you follow the instructions! I didn't know what the outcome would be but I decided to try this stuff to clean and reproof and old favourite jacket of mine. And I have to say it worked very well. I added a little extra of the reproofing solution and dried my jacket at room temperature. The fact this product was advertised as not requiring heat treatment was what attracted me to it and it worked for me on that basis I simply hung it on the washing line for a day and it was great. I tested it with the hose on setting that would replicate moderate-heavy rain fall and the water ran off it. I intend to purchase this again and I highly recommend it.

I purchased Grangers last year to waterproof my ski jacket and trousers just before heading off for the slopes, which seemed to work really well. However, 9 months later, I used my ski clothing again to go trekking in Norway under very wet conditions, and unfortunately both trousers and jacket got soaked, which was a little disappointing.This year, I decided to reproof my clothes with Nikwax before heading off to the slopes again, and between the two (Nikwax and Grangers) I believe this product is slightly better.My greatest concern reading other reviews was mentions of stitching falling apart after a wash with this product; thankfully this did not happen on my 10+ year old ski clothes (Animal brand, principally made of synthetic/polyester materials) - but I was careful to air dry the clothes and not use a machine dryer.I noticed after completing the application that my clothes felt a little more 'papery' to the touch; I'm not sure how to describe this - a technical feel, the material felt slightly rigid and dry, which was not the case with Grangers which left my clothes feeling like they were before the wash/application, like any synthetic material really. I completed a few water droplet tests which definitely had better results than what I remember with the Grangers product.Anyway, took them to ski and zero water absorption so was very happy. I guess the ultimate test would be to head to Norway again this November and test them out in pouring rain to get a true performance comparison!All in all, I think it's a slightly better solution that the Grangers and would recommend (especially for proofing old ski clothes).

I tried to wash my work jacket. First impressions, the dirt cleaner does not fully cope with all the dirt, but the jacket looks better. As for the other bottle to restore the water-repellent layer, so far it's okay in a little rain. I will write a more extended review when I test under the more rain

Great, do as they say on the label

I've used this on goretex motorcycle clothing and I'm impressed with its performance. I treated my jacket and trousers 2 months ago and have been through a lot of serious rain while wearing my biker gear since. There was only 1 day it let in a little rain on 1 arm, which was a particularly bad, flooded day where I was riding for a good hour and a half. The rain was battering down. I've since been on other very heavy rain days for maybe 40 minutes each time, where road spray is absolutely drenching me, but once I get home and pull my gear off, I'm dry underneath. Genuinely impressed, as I would normally have multiple wet areas with the same clothing untreated. Being on a bike in the rain with a cars road spray covering me is a serious test for this product.What worked for me:I did a quick rinse and spin to clean the washing machine.I put 1 item of clothing in with the quoted 100ml of Tech Wash. I put it on a 30 minute wash with a slow 600 speed spin at 30c.Afterwards, while that item is still damp, I added 100ml of TX Direct. I put it on the same 30 minute wash with a slow 600 speed spin at 30c.I let it dry naturally.This worked for me and I'll be buying it & when it finally needs reproofing.

Does what it says on the tin

Got caught in that sudden downpour recently, and put on old faithful that leaked on the arms, so used this two part (wash then prevent) and did the trick. Water beads off nicely doesn’t affect the breathability of my jacket good value and easy to use.

We really rated this quite highly. Good quality stuff that did an excellent job. A versatile cleaner and waterproofing solution that comes at a fair price and smells nice too.

Works just as intended…. We used it to clean our ski pants and jackets to keep it clean and water repellent… tried the clothes in our second trip and it was better than the original manufacturer coatingHighly recommend

D’excellents produits pour laver et réimperméabiliser les vêtements « techniques », je m’en sers depuis des années sans problème. Existe aussi pour les vêtements en duvet et tout aussi efficace. Le sèche-linge optimise les résultats.

Excelente producto, lo use para una chamarra repelente al agua que lamentablemente se dañó con un lavado con detergente normal que le dejo manchas de jabón, nikiwax redujo las manchas, y aunque no las quito completamente creo que en próximas lavadas con este producto las manchas se van a reducir poco a poco.
