Nikwax Tech Wash & TX.Direct Twin Pack – Wash-In Cleaner and Waterproofer for Waterproof Outdoor Clothing, Restores Breathability and Performance, 2 x 300ml

My partner and I both own North Face Tri-Climate jackets which have served their purpose really well in the British weather but have started to lose their waterproofing after about 12 months. You know that it's lost its waterproofing when it starts raining and, although you feel dry, when you take the jacket off you realise that your shoulders are completely drenched - even through the fleece liner!Like a lot of outdoor clothes wear the North Face jackets aren't cheap so having lost their waterproofing so quickly is a little disheartening and I didn't really want to have buy new ones already. After a quick search around I discovered Nikwax products which claim to not only safely clean the jackets but also add water repellancy back to them. I thought that for £10 for a twin pack of Tech Wash and TX.Direct I really didn't have anything to lose and thought it was worth a shot.I found both products very easy to use and had no problems with either of them. It clearly states to clean out the soap drawer on your washing machine before using. This makes sense as washing detergent is likely to react with the Nikwax products and prevent them working to their full potential. Obviously this isn't relevant if you decide to hand wash them. We don't actually use the soap drawer on our washing machine for normal washing and instead put our washing detergent in the moulded cup that comes with our washing detergent so felt confident we could use the drawer with no issues.After washing the jackets we hung them outside on a fairly windy day and they were dry in no time. After drying I tested the water repellency by splashing some water on them and it beaded up and rolled off, so seems to have done the trick! It wasn't long before I had the opportunity to test it out for real on a rainy day and the jacket behaves like new again.One thing I did notice after washing the jackets was an odd smell. It turns out this is the TX.Direct which smells very similar to PVA glue. Thankfully this smell dissipated after a couple of days but you might want to air the jackets outside for a bit longer if the smell bothers you.If you are in a hard water area you will need to use 50% more of the Tech Wash product so you may find this will run out quicker than the TX.Direct bottle.Overall I'm really impressed with these Nikwax products which have breathed new life into our jackets.

We really rated this quite highly. Good quality stuff that did an excellent job. A versatile cleaner and waterproofing solution that comes at a fair price and smells nice too.

Very easy to use it, got few waterproof clothes, was going to send it to dry clean, but a friend told me this product, and the outcome are great, almost like just bought it, save money.

Does what it says on the tin

This was my first time using Nikwax on my winter jackets after two years, and I was honestly surprised by how well it worked. The jackets came out looking fresh and almost brand new. I tried them out in proper Scottish weather and the water resistance is spot on again. As someone new to the product, I found it incredibly easy to use and it really lets you enjoy your jacket again.

Good stuff works well on dog and my rain gear

I tried to wash my work jacket. First impressions, the dirt cleaner does not fully cope with all the dirt, but the jacket looks better. As for the other bottle to restore the water-repellent layer, so far it's okay in a little rain. I will write a more extended review when I test under the more rain

Works just as intended…. We used it to clean our ski pants and jackets to keep it clean and water repellent… tried the clothes in our second trip and it was better than the original manufacturer coatingHighly recommend

D’excellents produits pour laver et réimperméabiliser les vêtements « techniques », je m’en sers depuis des années sans problème. Existe aussi pour les vêtements en duvet et tout aussi efficace. Le sèche-linge optimise les résultats.

Excelente producto, lo use para una chamarra repelente al agua que lamentablemente se dañó con un lavado con detergente normal que le dejo manchas de jabón, nikiwax redujo las manchas, y aunque no las quito completamente creo que en próximas lavadas con este producto las manchas se van a reducir poco a poco.

Producto excelente para impermeabilizar en condiciones las prendas que se quieran. Primero lavé la ropa con Tech Wash ( 30 grados y ropa sintetica) y despues de centrifugar y sin aclarar vuelves a lavar con el impermeabilizante TX Direct (muy bueno). Con los 300 cc que trae cada bote yo he lavado en tres veces: Dos chaquetones tipo Parka para travesia-montaña tipo decathon (uno con un poco de relleno dentro para treking montaña y el otro sin relleno pero con dos capas interiores tipo senderismo) para ello use 150 cc de cada bote, otra lavadora con una chaqueta impermeabilizada de vestir, una chaqueta de trecking (tela gruesa impermeabilizada) y una chaqueta fina cortavientos de kalenji (100 cc), y finalmente y por ser poco lo lave a mano dos cortavientos ( use los ultinos 50 cc), todo ello quedo perfecto y muy bien impermeabilizado.De todas formas y a pesar de ller bien las caracteristicas del producto en su web nikwas.com no se muy bien el efecto que hace el primer producto de lavado )( tech was) sobre las prendas, eso si, el impermeabilizante TX Direct es muy buen producto, impermebiliza las ropas muy bien.

Sono contento dell'acquisto.Ho provato su stivali in tessuto e scarpe da waders.1* lavaggio a 30° con detersivo e candeggina gentile ( no ammorbidente )2* lavaggio a 30° con due tappi di prodotto " tappo verde "3* lavaggio 30° con due tappi di prodotto " tappo viola "Il tutto messo ad asciugare all'aria.Una volta asciutto ho testato sotto al rubinetto e l'acqua scorre come da nuovi.Un po' macchinosa la parte del lavaggio con ben tre cicli, la confezione garantisce per tre dosaggi, quindi un po' costosino ma il risultato fa svanire il costo e il tempo impiegato perché è perfetto.
