Works great!
Purchased one after seeing my friend's. Used it on a trip a few months ago. My family and friends could see where I was and my progress. It took a little while working through all the menu/screens on it but once you get the hang of it. it's straight-froward. You can use your phone to configure it too. They have varying levels of accounts for their support services and they even allow you to pause it.

Inreach contract is a Trap.....
Garmin inreach is a thief. They will not let you out of your contract. I spent over 3 hours trying to get out of the contract. Messages with them and phone calls. Still didn't let me cancel. They charged me the $49.99 on my account again . The only way to cancel is to cancel the card you sign up with. Don't buy any inreach products. There are a lot more satellite options available that work as good or even better. Keep looking for anything but Garmin. I will say the device attached to the smart phone for texting was flawless. System is awesome. But getting out of contract takes some effort.
