Q: How well does it hold up in the rain?

It hasn't rained since we set it up, but I imagine it will hold up very well. The white material is thick plastic. The green material appears to be a polyester type but this green house seems to be very durable. It is not complicated to set up. I did it with a 7 year old! If you purchase this I would caution you on the welded nuts. Do not over tighten! I have hada couple of greenhouses made of this material, and this is by far the best. And a good value!!

There is a zippered door on both sides.

Q: what is the cost of replacement cover( in the future,if i need to order)?

It depends. For the 1st 2 yrs. I was looking, the price was $300-$400 (completely ridiculous... would've been cheaper to buy a whole new greenhouse for $200-ish). But the 3rd yr. I looked, one was available for $80. So I would suggest buying a couple of them when they are available at the cheaper price, if you can afford it. Generally, each clear canopy cover will last about 2 yrs. with round the clock use. After that the plastic will start degrading on the ceiling, leaving lots of holes for rain to enter and heat to escape. It's a hassle, but from now on I'm only going to use the canopy during the cold winter months so it will last longer. Summer sunlight and heat damages the plastic, and I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area, so it doesn't even get that hot in the summer. In the long run, it might be more cost effective to buy one of those $2,000-ish plexiglass greenhouses, but for now this works just fine for me, even with the need for replacement canopies.
